With the timeline unclear for a forthcoming US-led coalition assault on the Islamic State (IS) stronghold of Mosul, Kurdish peshmerga fighters continue to man the trenches at the strategic junction of Keske, just outside the northern Iraqi city.
VICE News traveled to Keske to meet with peshmerga fighters and to learn their thoughts on the coalition’s mulled offensive, as they continue to cut off IS's vital supply lines from Syria.

I love this reporter. He is clear. Asks good questions. Doesn't over dramatize situations or reports. He is unbiased and lets the viewers form their own opinions without his weighing in and forcing us towards his own opinion.

He already reported on the Islamists go through Vice videos, btw Off all Vice reporters he is my favorite, and I think he could have a more prestigious future if he wanted. My least has to be Simon, he is clearly biased in his reports, and tries to move the audience in a certain direction.

FaV1 Because incompetence is well deserved. It doesn't matter if the accident occurs frequently. What matters is why. And this is appalling incompetence. What? So me not being in the military some how invalidates my criticism? I could easily say the same thing, its nice to support people from the warmth of your house, why don't you go fight along the Kurds to truly show your support.
@FaV1
@FaV1 9 жыл бұрын
you didn't just critisize, you insulted people that put their life on a line every day. Critic is important and justified, friendly fire should never happen and yes we should ask why this happened and then for example better the communication between the fighting forces. I don't blame you for not fighting that would be stupid, it was to make a point and critisize you for insulting people that I am sure have a hard time about this grave incident that happened.

@taimoorriaz5802
@taimoorriaz5802 9 жыл бұрын
That sounds really familiar I wonder where I have heard that before? Oh yeah Americans said the same thing in the 80's about the mujahideen when they were fighting against the Russians. That turned out just great didnt it? amazonikk A kurdish state is not a bad thing at all they reaaly deserve it. However arming the kurds would most definetley lead them to turn their arms against turkey basically picking a fight against the second largest military in NATO. Even without NATOS's help the kurds would absolutely get wrecked and if they do manage to fight back somehow it could possibly destabalize a country with again, the second largest military in NATO. A destabalized Turkey would pose a threat to other Euroupean nations because half of Turkey is in Euroupe. Things are a lot more complicated then these are the good guys and these are the badies.

Could Vice do an analysis as to why the Kurds weren't put in charge of the entire region??? They are the only Muslim group I have seen or even heard of who has any normalisation with the U.S. In order for any alliance to ever hold firm normalisation of relations has to take hold, any rational person would have put the Kurds in charge. Ask the Vice News President Shane who he would put in charge! Are the Kurds lying? If not, wtf haven't they been given the entire region in exchange for oil sales to the West???

Kurds seem to be one of the most rational, reasonable and humane groups in the hell that is the Middle East. They also seem brave and I rarely see them wearing the terrorist masks (or committing terrorist acts). Frankly I don't know if I'd have the balls to fight the ISIS animals like that. But I guess they have no choice but to fight. I really hope they get the state of Kurdistan eventually. From everything that I have seen so far, I am sure it will be a powerful and tolerant democracy with good economy, tech and environment.

I am a Canadian and I do not blame the recent death of Canadian Special Forces member Andrew Doiron and the wounding of 3 fellow soldiers on the Iraqi Peshmerga involved. I blame the friendly fire incident on the conservative government under Prime Minister Steven Harper. The Canadian special forces were likely beyond the front lines in enemy territory calling in airstrikes against IS like they were doing in December when they came under direct enemy fire and returned fire killing IS militants. This role the Canadian special forces were playing is in direct conflict with the non combat/training role the government mandated of them 6 months ago. When you have your countries army operating on the ground in opposition of the officially mandated mission I can imagine a breakdown in the normal standard operating procedure in an active warzone especially one which is made up of a wide coalition of allied forces. I blame this tragic incident on the incompetence of the conservative government to allow its soldiers free reign to do whatever they want and now we see the consequences.

stand fast Peshmerga, you are proving adept at this sort of war and the world owes you a great debt. ypj, ypg.. all heroes and this Christian thanks you very much for your humanity and willingness to sacrifice your lives for my people.. not many groups on this earth would do so but the Kurds are true friends and we love you and pray for you daily.

Iranian forces you mongrol* Kurds are fighting in Kirkuk,Erbil front,Shingal Front, Oh lets mention the miracle retake of the Kobane canton and how it became the next stalingrad.. Baghdad would be under ISIS control was it not for Iran helping Iraq and forming Iranian militias..The real heroes are the YPG and for Iraq's sake.. Iran.. Go learn more about the political situation before you spew your bulllshit on here.. Iraq gets help from Iran.. A lot actually.. In training and weapons.. So what is your point? Even military intervention which America and Canada do not provide for the Kurds..
