In this episode of Business To You, Lars talks about the PESTEL Analysis (formerly known as PEST factors) and how to use it properly. PESTEL is a framework that helps analyzing the Macro Environment of organizations and is often used when starting a new business or when entering a foreign market. PESTEL stands for Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental and Legal factors. Together these factors form a great representation of the general external environment of a business.

Lars de Bruin ( / larsdebruin ) graduated as Master of Science (MSc.) in Strategic Management from the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. In addition he has studied business around the world at universities such as UC Berkeley, Harvard, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, London School of Economics, Radboud University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Lars has a special interest in strategic M&A and is a licensed Business Valuator in the Netherlands.

Please make more videos like these. Honestly, I'm currently preparing for an exam I have tomorrow and is this video has helped me undertand more than google, my professor and books combined. It would be great to have more stratigic management videos like these that talk about VRIO and other annoying frameworks that are just hard to undertand. Like Ansoff... BCG, and many others.

Overall pretty good video on the explanation of PESTEL Analysis, one good thing that I learn from the video had to be the different variations for the analysis like Pest, steeple, and Destep. Also, how the primary focus of the analysis is not for the task environment but for macro environment. That was something that are textbook didn't go in depth in.
