I learned so much from this! Thank you! Your little guy reminded me so much of the little one I lost in February. She too was a past champion show dog who we fortunate enough to purchase after she retired and loved so very much. She had that same easy going personality and beautiful coloring. Thanks for sharing your expertise and giving me a few tears of rememberance of my baby and also great tips for the one I still have!

On part 3 of this video at 6.00 i felt the terror in his eyes!! I hollered because it was soo obvious!! ..now with my teacup pomeranian "Pokemon!" He would have ate her ass for real!! She was rough handling and pulling hair that is not allowed and he has been trained to let ANYONE MISHANDLE HIM!! SMDH!! #1 reason why i groom my own fur babies💙also she has skill just no tenderness...😢

When we had Shih-Tzu’s I had rounded scissors for the face, eyes and nose area. I had a stroke 6 years ago so I can’t groom anymore plus our girls have passed away before the stroke now I have a smooth coat chihuahua, I just take her to the groomer for her nails with my left hand and arm ei g paralyzed my husband doesn’t have the patience to do her nails,she will nibble and growl at him. The groomer charges us 15.00 for her nails it’s worth it to me, less stress for her and us.

I was very upset with the handling of your long scissors. Thank God Baba is a calm dog. Thank you for your instructions, 👋

This was so helpful Margaret! Just what I needed to know for taming back some of that thick hair! 1. Do you ever trim Pom toes like a poodle? 2. Would it be okay to use a $10 all the way down the belly, under armpits, inside of legs, etc so that dog is cooler for summer? 3. Is there a tool to get the undercoat brushed out apart from the slicker wire brush? 4. Do you give your dog supplements like Vit B complex or Fish oil to get such lovely coats? Baa Baa is like a fox!

what kind of metal comb did you use for the pom. It looks less painful than a regular comb. Thanks
@pattywirth25187 жыл бұрын
I use a good quality comb with tines that are fine and medium. I really like the greyhound comb, but it is hard to find. Get a comb that has long tines, not too sharp and spaced fairly wide.

I wish more people would see this video and not the ones where Pomeranians are shaved. I've been to many groomers unfortunately (lost our great one, moves, etc.) and most of them do not know how to cut a pomeranian.

Monks for feet and I just buy curved and straight, not too expensive for body. Like 50 to 100 dollars

Lol if these people think THIS is too rough and dangerous on a dog...never work at a pet hospital, where animals are actively STRUGGLING and you actually have to use your body weight. Super helpful video, btw.
@deefine14655 жыл бұрын
I dont know what "PET HOSPITAL" your speaking of....but ive raised several breeds of dogs and NEVER EVER would my vet/ groomer( i did all my grooming) treat my babies like what ur speaking of...my doggies are trained obviously this one is too...but rough handling isnt always neccessary...u have to adjust to each pet . And even u have to admit that combing of his hair and holding him by his tail was a bit too much.😢
@pattywirth25182 жыл бұрын
He didnt cry or struggle, how was it too rough. Ridiculous

i love your information about a pom and you are so good with these little guys. I have one question - is the teddy bear look just the way he is groomed? I love the bear look but I prefer the long coat however you brought up a good point my pom will sleep with me and so in the snowy season I will keep him long and summer he will be a teddy bear. Good job

He is adorable! I'm trying to keep my two poms in shape in between grooms. My biggest issue is with my pom mix and keeping his bootie area trimmed and clean. He's a rescue (it was a really bad situation but I think he finally understands he's truly loved here) and absolutely hates when you get anywhere near his rear end he gets very upset to the point of trying to snap at my hand and crying (he's never EVER bit anyone by the way). Any hints on a sani cut? I really try to keep it brushed but with him being so sensitive it gets matted so easily and I feel like a horrible pet parent. Sorry for the long comment and give Baa Baa some loves from me!

That dog was so choppy when done. 😮 We would never have let it leave the salon looking like that. I did like how you used the thinner to de bulk around the neck, though. I would suggest going over the whole dog with some finishing thinners at the end and using a chunker instead of a straight. It will look so much better.

be assertive with your dog don't let it run off.. if you have a table make it stand on there and don't let it try to run off, doing this at least once a week will desensitize it.

at what age should a pomeranian get her first trim. I just bought 1 and she is 9 weeks.
@jeannetteisabella6 жыл бұрын
ana hill definitely start grooming ASAP whether you do it yourself or have a groomer do it...even if it's just bath and nails. And get on a 4-6 weeks schedule so your pup can get used to it... it'll make all the difference
@pattywirth25186 жыл бұрын
Keep the feet trimmed and the butt, at this age that is all. When the coat gets longer than you like, then you can trim it. Don't cut the puppy fur short. If you decide to do that , only on an adult.

I really need help. I want to shave a pomeranian dog hair but does it grow back? Please answer:)
@pattywirth25188 жыл бұрын
+Kornelija Bilo Yes and no. When you watch the video the first dog has been shaved many times. You can see the hair grows back, but not in a normal fashion. It could take a long time to grow back or it might not grow back normal or it might grow back fine. I don't recommend shaving, but trimming to leave an inch or two , in case it doesn't grow back normal. I hope this helps you.
