I remember back in the day watching an interview with Pet Shop Boys about why they covered this song. They said they felt U2 were a "Vegas act". It's now 2023 and WOW how right they were!!!

Uh uh. PSB wanted to turn a rock song into a disco song thinking rightly it's going to be a hit. Bono took the song as sarcasm but after an explanation f2f, all was well.

This came about because Bono dissed disco acts like the Pet Shop Boys as rubbish so Neil and Chris decided to record a disco version of this mixed in with Can't Take My Eyes Off You to show that 'serious' songs and disco can blend quite nicely

Mega mashup ! Not only did Pet Shop Boys combine Bob Crewes 60’s iconic “CTMEOOY” with one of U2’s most brilliantly bombastic stadium raves “WTSHNN” but even managed to incorporate 50’s SoCal car culture tributes and clips from U2’s “The Unforgettable Fire” video , that itself was heavily influenced by Godfrey Reggio’s often copied by never duplicated “Koyaanisqatsi” . Brilliant all around !!!

March 1991: I wake up, hungover after a college party and turn on the TV to see this video. I think "cool, PSB doing U2." Then at 2:05 I go "WTF?" Didn't exactly hate the "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" part, but... 25 years later and I simply think it's a brilliant cover.

Marvelous song! Just listen to the background music....there are so many layers of different tones and sounds. It keeps amazing me! The music video is also fascinating. If they'd done this to With or Without You, I'd hate it... but this is an extreme guilty pleasure. If nothing else, it has the powerful beat the original U2 song never had.

One of the Greatest songs of 1991 and one of the best songs ever created by the Pet Shop Boys covering the old 1970's song "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" by The Boys Town Gang. The original song was recorded by Frankie Valli during 1967... but I like the Pet Shop Boys version much better ! 👍👍👍👍👍

I have watched the original U2 video too many times to count plus the U2 super Bowl performance which is still the best ever. Still enjoyed this reinterpretation by Pet Shop Boys.
