I completely agree. Nobody is a bigger Beatle fan than me. But SMiLE is the greatest accomplishment in rock music history.

I'm a monstrous Beatles fan- ask me any trivia question and I can spout-off answers all day, but I can say with honesty that to me, "Pet Sounds" is worth the entire Beatles discography.

I don’t think SMiLE would have been really been excepted in the time of the 60s if it came out, it’s a lot weirder than any of the other stuff big acts like the Beatles were doing.

+Bryan Figueroa Yeah it's a seerious possibility... however what it is strange it is that the best album of the year 1966 is already a hard choice to do... i'm not even sure if Pet Sounds fly over "Blonde on Blonde" "Revolver" & "Fifth Dimension" (avant-garde) albums... Even "If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears" + "Face to Face" have great moments as well... i don't think it's an easy mission to choose a single LongPlaya and put it down on a throne

Bryan Figueroa well well i like the 70s as well... the early 70s were natural progression in many ways & many genres.. inspirations went in all directions... it was adventurous I've made playlists for 1971 & 1972 (among other years) It was the psychedelic days... i plan to assembled a 65/66 playlist this week... it was half a century already

Matt October lol, they revised it after they realize that it was a totally shit review, saying things like "On the other hand, a lot has happened for music since Pet Sounds. For instance, compare Pet Sounds to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, My Bloody Valentine's Loveless or Radiohead's OK Computer. To these young ears, Brian Wilson's masterpiece just doesn't stand up.". That shows just such an insane ineptitude for a music review journalist, and sadly the original 7.5 before it was changed was written by it's founder and CEO. The fact he is using Radiohead and my bloody valentine as a comparison to down play the album is insanely stupid given they are of entirely different genres, of a different time, and have different historical importance. A proper reviewer should be reviewing what it is. It's like reviewing a classic like 7 samauri and saying then comparing it to a action movie from the 90s or 2000s, they are totally different.

@@TheFamousMockingbird there are albums from that time that stay relevant or fresh tough, like dark side, i think that even if it was groundbreaking for that time, it hasn't aged well, if you grew up listening to all the stuff it inspired or other things released since then 'pet sounds' sounds kind of boring, at least is what i think
