Alcohol creates histamines causing sinus inflammation, so buy organic without all the pesticides and look up Antihistamine producing foods. But obviously going without alcohol is your best option!

Hi Pete, I have a testimony that would blow your mind. Let me tell you in short. I used to be a diabetic for 12 years until recent months. I used to inject myself with insulin 18 units in the morning and 16 units at lunch and 18 units at Dinner as well as taking 2000 mg of Metformin per day (there was something wrong). I cut all sugars from my diet and began drinking fresh veggie smoothies and now I'm not diabetic and I lost 10+ kg and I feel great. I now am gluten free and began to make my own bone broth to heal my gut which I believe I have LGS (Leaky Gut Syndrome). I believe that today's wheat flour and breads are poison due to the way wheat is now processed. Over processed to make it last longer on supermarket shelves they take out the fibre and all nutrients. I have just recently bought your book "The complete Gut Health Cook Book".

thats amazing! Im so glad to hear your healthy and eating well. Ive had the privilege to have had a lady late last year to educate me on health, Soulla Chamberlain from Star Anise Organic Wholefoods, did two over the phone consultations and changed my eating habits and haven't looked back as I was always sick, had severe Candida and digestive issues for almost 20 years . Check our her website for some free recipes, and yes I ate lambs brains, still trying to stop my thinking thats it a brain, even though it was delicious!

So for all the Vegans and other critisizing, here is the key point that Pete made, but many seemed to miss. Every "body" is different. There are absolutely many individuals out there who Paleo is not appropriate for based on medical conditions, genetics, and other factors. Veganism of course is an option for many people that works well for them, so congrats on finding your life diet. For those of us eating true Paleo (abundance of vegetables and more so then animal proteins), and have had success, the results are amazing and life transforming. In addition to the physical health benefits, my mind is sharper, and as an unexpected pleasant surprise, I have become more focused on my goals, and I am more motivated to accomplish them.

A note on eggs: A number of people in the USA who have reacted badly to eggs, and assumed they were allergic to them, or their physician or other expert told them they were, later discovered they were ~not~ allergic to eggs from hens on pasture eating a diet w/out herbicide, pesticide, or fungicide residues. The major difference, however, seems to be that these eggs are either not washed - as clean eggs from clean nests do not need to be washed, and keep better that way -Or, they are washed with a bit more care on small, family operated farms, so the -*-eggs are not contaminated with egg wash solutions, which will easily go through the pores in the shells if not done properly-*-.We don't think of eggshells as being porous, but the chicks have to breathe before they hatch. If the egg wash solution is adequately warmed, the contamination should be minimal- at least in theory - but if the egg wash solution is colder than the egg, the egg contracts inside the shell, pulling the chemical egg wash solution through the pores into the egg.Why producing food without the use of toxic and/or synthetic chemical substances is such a radical notion these days is beyond me. (Or preventing foods from coming into contact with synthetic chemicals, including packaging- as BPA is not the only dangerous substance transferring from containers to foods. Glass, btw, is a naturally occurring material.) From a nutritional standpoint, eggs are one of the few nearly 'perfect' foods, (along with a few other foods demonized by some). It's worth the effort and a little extra money to get QUALITY eggs, and see how our bodies respond to them. They taste better, too!
@Jefferdaughter

Ditto for dairy. It makes no difference to me whether or not someone chooses to consume dairy products- But, the stuff sold in grocery stores in America is a *very* different thing from fresh-squeezed milk from heritage breed cows properly managed on pasture: higher in fat and solids-not-fat, lower incidence of mutated A1 casein protein, higher Vit A (the real thing, not betacarotene or other Vit A precursors, which some people, most notably children, cannot convert to Vit A), just to name a few differences.I'm talking about un-homogenized milk, where the fat gobules are not altered. Uncooked, of course! (aka 'pasturized'- and not irradiated, either) Many are surprised to find that they cannot digest industrial milk from the stores, but have no trouble enjoying real, 'fresh-squeezed' milk! So, at least in some cases, it isn't the lactose that was the problem! Fresh, raw milk contains live beneficial bacteria and enzymes that help with digestion, but many of these bacteria also aid the digestion of other foods.The milk from dairy cows on 100% 'grassfed' diets rarely have the chemical residues all too common in the milk from industrial-style dairies, including antibiotics, pipeline wash residue, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, etc from industrially grown crops used as feed for these cattle- many of which can and do pass through the cow and into the milk in one form or another.Not to mention chemical transfer from those plastic jugs, or plastic-lined cartons...For those accustomed to fresh, high quality dairy products, that stuff sold in grocery stores tastes horrible. No wonder they have to add cocoa powder and sugar (HFCS) to it to get kids to drink it- but the children I know who were raised on quality dairy products won't touch the 'chocolate' version either.The same can be said for veg, of course! Canned veg from the store is not going to provide the same nutrition as fresh, raw or lightly cooked veg grown in living soil WITHOUT chemicals.

As you point out, eggs don't _need_ to be washed (of course you can do so just before you use them if they are dirty), and if you don't wash them they don't need to be refrigerated--in fact they _should not_ be, because condensation is bad for unwashed eggs. Washed eggs have to be refrigerated, of course, because the natural sealant on them has been washed off along with the dirt. I don't know why we wash eggs in the U.S.; most other countries don't.

Never hungry, blood pressure is now normal, pre diabetes has disappeared and look years younger. Taking 80% less medication. Have stopped eating all processed foods. This type of eating was recommended by my dietitian prior to me investigating Pete Evans Paleo way. Pete has just reinforced my new lifestyle and it is a change to my lifestyle and not a diet. I once followed a stupid diet with a very big focus on canned legumes (chickpeas etc) and I became very sick. I found the paleo diet and I followed it for a year. I was a sick 6'3 160 pounds at the time. After a year of paleo diet, I was healthy again but I was 150 pounds. I joined a gym and left the paleo diet to bulk up again. Now four years later I am 220 pounds but I am in good health. I really love the paleo diet. I will be using it to cut some fat now that I don't want to get any bigger. I also found that I am able to focus a lot better when I eat less carbs. I want to say thank you for your TV series. I've watched it on Netflix and I absolutely loved it. I think you are a fantastic host. Very positive message. You have a contagious love for food. I will learn more about cooking from now on.

Tobacc0 There are even people who will tell you that eating fat _causes_ diabetes, which is the craziest thing I've ever heard. Up until recently, the American Diabetes Association Web site recommended eating sugar as a way to control your diabetes. They have finally conceded that LCHF is a valid way of eating to deal with diabetes, especially if your goal is to lose weight (but don't eat like that for the long term, lol!). Troy Stapleton has a great LCDU lecture where he bears down heavily on the irony of being advised to eat lots of carbs (he developed Type I a few years ago), so that he can take insulin to get them out of his bloodstream. He shows his blood work before and after going LCHF and the difference is impressive--almost entirely normal, now. He still has to take his base dose of insulin, of course, but he has been able to eliminate the bolus dose with each meal.

True, but I think it is very important to teach your kids why they are eating this way. My oldest has many opportunities to eat foods that are unhealthy, but she understands why we make the food choices we do and thus she more often than not makes good choices. And, she can explain to friends that push back on it why she's making these choices (and how to have boundaries when they won't accept her choices). Remember, eventually kids become independent adults, and our hope is they will live happy, healthy lives.

The best documentary I watched, and I have been vegetarian and vegan for almost 16 years and suffered severe Candidiasis throughout the entire time, is THE PERFECT HUMAN DIET. It took me there times to watch it and change my thinking about food. I mean really is vegan cheese healthy? Has anyone seen the freaking ingredients in it?!?! No wonder I was a fat, overweight and very unhealthy vegan! Just saying ladies & gentlemen, caveman wasn't VEGAN NOR VEGETARIAN for long periods, and again this documentary isn't from a nutritionist point of view, its from anthropologists data and analysis, truly give it a go. Pete is brave to speak up on what he believes in and trying to educate people to make their own conscious decisions on better health and nutrition. I have dieted for 16 years and until I put into practice and introduced the Keot/Paleo foods (how did your grandparents and great-grandparents eat? I don't think they had Maccas Drive through in a small village or KFC in the town centre back then!) Just saying LOGICAL eating habits is all this is about. I had a lovely lady Soulla Chamberlain from Star Anise Organic Wholefoods, who helped me get on the right track, I mean it was easy once you realise that your eating habits were a little skewed. There is also so much online for your perusal, I have discovered Pintrest (yes I am a cavewoman I just got into it 3 weeks ago) has amazing recipes, I was not a cook by any standards just ask my friends and husband, yet late last year I haven't stopped cooking daily and enjoying it! I now do Kombucha, kefir and fermented vegetables, Donna Gates & Donna Schwenk are a great start to look at phenomenal ideas. All delicious and so proud that I make them fresh at home. Now people are asking me questions on health, I just redirect them to the people who have helped me get healthy (I'm not a nutritionist nor chef!) but i just love it when people are interested and helping others to get healthier because I hate the one thing that everyone says "eat everything in moderation" Sorry to say were just poisoning ourselves with crap, and fake vegan foods, chemical sugars etc.. no moderation in any of that & Pete Evans is just trying to ensure that people open their eyes and really look at where your food that you are putting into your mouth, is coming from. You don't buy crappy cheap fuel for your car do you? So why do we accept to buy cheap food to fuel this body we have to live in, hopefully for 100 years? Just saying to whomever reads this, food is your body's fuel source, give it the best because you deserve the best food ever!!!

So one moment he says *"your body doesn't lie"* then the next moment he says *"a lot of people who adopt this paleo diet and for the first few days or even months, they feel like crap...."* So which is it, do you listen to your body when it tells you the Paleo diet is awful, or are you supposed to ignore your body and continue suffering through "crap" ?
@awstudy604
@awstudy604 4 жыл бұрын
He's saying intially some people may feel awful at the beginning as a symptom of their body going through a detox phase. Ultimately listening to your body is key, however, before you can thrive through your new diet/lifestyle changes, you have to rid your body of the toxins and inflammation that has built up over the years from consuming processed foods, added sugars, and all those unhealthy meals. Like he said Paleo lifestyle isn't a magic pill or will get rid of all your health issues after one day so your body has to get used to eating 'clean' for a while so your system will be ready and all the health benefits will come after the detox phase. Feeling awful is only temporary, whereas long term gain is what he is referring to.

While I love Pete Evans, and all his projects, and I am Paleo, I have to disagree on a point. It is NOT cheap to follow this plan. Any grass fed/pastured meats/poultry and organic fruits & veggies are very pricey. Some of us cannot afford grass fed beef, period. My family is is the upper end of middle class, comfortable and both professionals. Can NOT afford to regularly buy this kind of thing for a family of four. And then to propose using, what? Distilled or bottled water instead of tap to make broth?? It is laughable. Only the rich could do that.

Chefs become the new Veterinarians? ... First Question "What are you feeding?" (I asked my Veterinarian if she would be my DR and she just laughed, said she couldn't and referred me back to my MD... I asked him if he got the referral and he tried to tell me how far Medicine has evolved and tried to Prescribe Statins and BP Meds , I declined but did not fire him because he is good at sewing me up and he is a good guy) Now my BP, my Cholesterol, my Sugars and my Weight are all Well within ranges of a man 20 years my JR and all without his Prescriptions... I just became my own Veterinarian and did what she would do... I corrected my Diet.

I em on Ketogenic Diet?What is a Ketogenic Diet? The ketogenic diet (often termed keto) is a very low-carb, high-fat diet that shares many similarities with the Atkins and low-carb diets. It involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake, and replacing it with fat. The reduction in carbs puts your body into a metabolic state called ketosis. When this happens, your body becomes incredibly efficient at burning fat for energy. It also turns fat into ketones in the liver, which can supply energy for the brain (6, 7). Ketogenic diets can cause massive reductions in blood sugar and insulin levels. This, along with the increased ketones, has numerous health benefits (6, 8, 9, 10, 11). Bottom Line: The ketogenic diet (keto) is a low-carb, high-fat diet. It lowers blood sugar and insulin levels, and shifts the body’s metabolism away from carbs and towards fat and ketones.

I have understood the meals we have DO resonate somewhat with biology and arent completely arvitary. That breakfast infact DOES need to be differant from dinner if you want to have less negative side effects. Can anyone site any paper/study showing otherwise?

Uh, your body doesn't know if a food has a label. So no, your meals don't have to be different. You will however benefit from variety! You can fast and skip breakfast and just eat lunch and dinner and that's healthy, too. If you don't have an appetite in the morning, no problem, continue fasting until your mid day meal. If you don't have any appetite or digestive issues then anything can be eaten at any time! Just make sure it's something you like :)

Hi guys. Great video Pete. If you'll indulge me for a second; I was veggie, then vegan, now paleo and, while I'm not sure I can make the full carny transition, my views on the nutrition and even ethics of meat have been somewhat mugged by reality. I made a short video about it if you're interested. No worries if not. Peace, Rob kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gsh3odtlu5nHcZs.html

The paleo diet is moderate protein not high or low. Both keto and paleo don’t say eat a lot they say moderate which means 3-6 ounces of protein or animal protein a meal.

Yes. Most of what he says is pretty basic ordinary old common sense. Nothing clever. Nothing new. Very ordinary. And it’s stuff he’s got from other people. Then he starts going to absolute stupid nonsense. We need to remember he is a chef. Just an ordinary person. He’s not a nutritionist. He’s not a medical practitioner. He’s not a biochemist. He’s not done research. that’s okay of course. But we just need to remember he has no particular knowledge or skills
