At the end of May 2015 Peter Bucalo became a priest, but 30 years earlier on April 19, 1985, he was a top-notch DJ on WLS-FM Chicago!
Enjoy this flashback shot by Art Vuolo. His sermons certainly will be up-tempo and great to listen to. He also did 20 years at WDJX-FM 99.7 Louisville, KY

Pete and I spent those 20 years a WDJX together. It was the best of times and, after deregulation, the worst of times. I was lucky enough to see him ordained as a deacon and hope to one day hear him preach as a priest. Thanks for the memories!

He was approximately only 24 years old when this was filmed. I looked forward to and caught his show almost every night. He had the presence of someone considerably older but the energy of a kid. His personality along with Brant Miller helped establish the brand that would be LS FM. Nice job Dallas Cole!

I rememeber I ordered a video that I think was part of an anniversary celebration of WLS. Had a ton of the DJs from the many years of LS. It was in 1985 or '86 and this very clip of Peter B was kind of a "bonus" on the video. I thought he was awesome! I can NOT believe it's been 38 years!!

Peter B was the american counterpart of Manny Pagsuyin A.K.A. Jimmy Jam who anchored the Saturday edition of the immortal Top 20 @ 12 from 2003 to 2007

I sent Peter B an aircheck in the hopes he could help me advance career. I called him a week later. He said he didn't get it. I sent him another one and he said didn't get it either. I put a third one in a box, wrapped it up like it was a present and dropped it off at the station. He said he got it but he didn't do a thing to help me advance my career.

Now ain't that special. This is probably the first aircheck I've seen where the Electro-Voice RE20 is absent! Great retro clip, thanks for sharing. 1985, what a great year.

@@BarrettRodriguez Yes, I remember that clearly as THE American radio sound. I often revisit old 80's tapes just to experience the reverb and the "wet" vocal audio. Btw. it's not gone. I hear the same reverb effect on some American web radio and streaming channels.
