I am a pure ford fan, but I really miss brocky, miss his nice attitude and his ability to race. It was an unfortunate loss and he will be dearly dearly missed R.I.P Brocky king of the mountain

The cry catch phrase back then was Body by holden, Soul by Brock. Brock indeed was talented, many Americans & Englishman came to conquer the mountain and failed. A lot of todays hotshot drivers simply could not have cut it, driving those old V8s

As far as I can tell, Brock made the mistake of turning his back on the people who helped him get where he was and started listening only to his deffacto partner and his chiropractor and their "spirit guides". The result was he went from building some of Australia's hottest cars to doing predelivery on some Russian sh#tboxes in the space of about three or four years.

Well it was a slip-up for Brock - but 4 years later he would be back with Holden, and actively embraced by them... In the meantime however - Brock was a Ford man, racing Sierras in Group.A (Falcon in Auscar), and through his Austech business, modifying Falcons, Fairlanes and Mavericks!

Peter was a brilliant driver and employed a lot of innovative engineers. Unfortunately he was not a good judge of character and when Bevs friend Eric Dowker got his hands on him, He started to believe his own Press. And that as they say was to end of Peters reign at the top. I was working as a development engineer with GMH at the time watching this painful scenario unfold. A most unfortunate point in time.

@MrVicist - Put simply, a 9 time Bathurst winner (in Australia Bathurst is all that matters as far as motor racing is concerned), and through his promotion of safe driving, he was able get his name into the media , and with his continued Bathurst success the legend grew. The 1987 polariser thing was a mere blip on the radar, and only added to the legend

All that, and he STILL won Bathurst that year.

Just goes to show, when people believe in someone, how much merit they will give them. Imagine if someone in the Engineering Dept. came up with a box with alfoil and worthless crystals inside it, they would have been the laughing stock of the company and stacked by weeks end. Seems Brock made a LOT of poor decisions in his life, none less than wrecking 2 families in the conquest for his own dick. And dragging many other peoples lives and welfare down the rabbit hole of his selfish dream. Not exactly the Hero most of Australia makes him out to be.

Brock appeared to be a nice guy, but for someone who had so much success and with so many fans that worshiped the ground he walked on, to turn around and try and make large sums of money by deluding the most vulnerable of those makes me question if he really was such a great guy?

Huge fuck up of Brock. The Polariser was tested on channel 7 and also willisee show with no results. Also Bev brock was squarking lika chook on tv and Peter was hiding behind her skirt. Brock should have jumped into an RX7

Maybe he should have stuck with the boozing, ciggies, and carousing. It was only after going alternate that he stopped winning races en masse. He would have won another 9 bathursts and he'd probably still be here today.....
