Peter Gabriel is one of the most amazing human beings! His music touches my soul! I listened to this song many times after a break up. I cried buckets of salty tears. I still cried some to your reaction. He is just amazing! A human rights activist and the love he shows to his roadies and road crew is just amazing!! I love your reactions to his music! I’m new to your channel and not sure all of the videos you’ve watched by him. A couple of suggestions. “Mercy Street”, “Red Rain”, “Digging in the Dirt”, and “Games Without Frontiers” to name a few

Paula Cole just destroys in this concert. I recognized her later with her single, ‘Where have all the cowboys gone?’ This is such a beautiful, peaceful song

Young lady, you 'get' it. You get Peter and his passion, his brilliance. I saw this concert live. Epic. It's okay to tear up, no to worry. You wouldn't be alone. Be well. Check out the other tracks from this concert. Also, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds, live 'Bartender' from Radio City Music Hall. /M.

As mesmerised as you get, you must remember that this is a live Peter Gabriel show, and by closing your eyes, you are missing the visuals and the dramatics. The album "Us" is from 1992, but this concert tour was in 1993, mainly. It was staged by Peter and Robert Lepage, a French-Canadian Aavant-Garde Theatre director, who spent 10 years as the Artistic Director of the National Theatre of Canada. He has also appeared on TV and in movies, most notably "Jesus de Montreal". ---OronOfMontreal

He has a new album coming out and has been releasing new songs on the full moon for the last 10 months. “Panopticom”, “Ode to Joy”, and “The Court” are just a few. I saw him in concert a week ago and my mind is still blown!

I think this song is about the eternal struggle in intimate relationships. The attraction - but also the pain. The temptation - but also the broken heart. The song radiates to me a certain hopelessness: mankind will never feel total peace and happiness in close relationships, despite endless efforts. "We've done everything we can." Somehow that combination makes this song both very beautiful and painful. But there's a feeling of hope as well.

Peter Gabriel is my favourite solo artist and this is my all-time favourite concert. He can really capture the complexity and intensity of the feelings between a woman and a man. That's what I take from this song (and also Digging In The Dirt). Gabriel originally recorded this with Irish singer Sinead O'Connor (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ab6Yd6qczJ63oIU.html) for his album "Us", but Paula Cole really made the role her own in this 1993 "Secret World Live" concert. She looked and sounded great throughout and they were really well matched. You can see they all had a great time from start to finish. The full concert is on YT at kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iM98gNV0mq_ZnIU.html but it's well worth buying it and giving PG your support for his great work!

Massive shout out to Paula Cole in this one. She of the Dawson's Creek theme song fame (I don't wanna wait). Of course in the studio version it was Sinead O'Connor. As for the meaning, I've always presumed it's to do with Adam & Eve in the garden of eden etc.

He never ceases to entertain me, I'm been a Peter fanatic since I was little. If I may I'd like to request Peter Gabriel- No Self Control (live in Athens 1987) I think you'll get a kick out of it.

Beautiful song. My favorite from the “Us” album… and an amazing tour. I was lucky to catch it in Chicago. Nice reaction. Even if the literal meaning of the song wasn’t clear, you picked up on the depth of the emotions Peter was trying to convey.

Oh, you must watch "In Your Eyes" from this same video, "Secret World Live". It will bring you jubilation. Incredibly high energy from the performers. Makes my heart sing to see you being floored by this music. I saw Peter Gabriel live for his first solo album tour in L.A. back in 1977. His career with Genesis was phenomenal. His solo career after just as if not more so. Trust me. "In Your Eyes". "The light, the heat". Blessings.

It's funny you say his music should be in movie soundtracks - he's done a lot of soundtrack work, including Birdy, Last Temptation of Christ, Ovo, and Rabbit Proof Fence, plus a lot of music both original and from his albums have featured in movies (like Wall-E, Babe: Pig in the City, Philadelphia, Say Anything, Stranger Things, and others).

I think The Blood of Eden is about the unbearable separation and unbearable distance between us and between God and ourselves. He mentions the 'moment of bliss' right in the middle of the song. The sublime moments when one feels truly connected with another is just a glimose of the joy of wboleness when the man is once more in the woman and tbe woman in the man.
