I like it without all the busyness & screaming. Peter G could just stand there and sing. The song stands on it’s own - with the his band harmonizing, the original melody & lyric: Love, ‘Whichever way I go I come back to the place you are. All my instincts, they return. The grand facade, so soon will burn. Without a noise, without my pride, I reach out from the inside….. In your eyes. I am complete. In your eyes I see the doorway - (in your eyes) of a thousand churches. In your eyes The resolution - (In your eyes) to all the fruitless searches. In your eyes… Oh, I wanna touch the light, the heat I see in your eyes.’ So beautiful

As others have mentioned, the young woman singing is Paula Cole. And yes, she is an amazing singer in her own right. This song has always been amazing and this live version is by far the best version. Much of the musical influence from this song came from African influence and fits perfectly in this song. To me, this song is a song of hope. Seeing people looking into their eyes without judgement. Just love for your fellow human being no matter where we come from. We are all human and deep down inside, the vast majority of the world is good. We all want the same thing. Music is the universal language. No matter our differences, we can all come together and have a shared experience for a few hours and all of our differences fade away and mean nothing. If we could only hold on to that feeling, the world would be a much better place. Love and respect your fellow human being. We are much closer than we are apart. If we could harness that and put it into action. That continues to be my hope. Thank you for the reaction Jamel. As usual, always great. Stay safe my friend.

I had the pleasure of seeing this tour in-person in Largo, MD (near DC.) It was increible -- I also saw him on the So tour in 1986 (I'm 50 -- so I was 16 when So came out) and it was magic. There are two stages -- round/female and square/male. This song was on the round stage. And crossing the gap between these two is a conveyor belt. Plus, Manu Katche is in the top 5 drummers in the world. One thing to note about this live version -- he added two sections - at the beginning "Accepting all I've done and said/I want to stand and stare again." Those were added after the original release of So in 1986. There's a studio version of the new arrangement as well. The low bass voice was a recording of singer Ronnie Bright. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronnie_Bright Anyway, thank you for your reaction and insight.

According to my taste, I even like the version from Live in Athens from the 80s better than the Paula Cole version. And there he sings the duet alone. Paula's dominant voice just doesn't fit. The part has to be soft and comforting. Even if it's not Kate Bush herself.

I have nothing against her personally. I really like your solo pieces. Let's say the song is covered by Sting and Pink. No matter how well they could do it, it wouldn't be the same.

This was my favorite song ever recorded before I heard Jeff Buckley's cover of "Hallelujah." This is such a poetic, searing, spiritual piece of music. And Peter Gabriel's delivery both in this version and the studio version are so heartfelt. If you haven't done so already, you would enjoy reacting to Peter Gabriel's "Don't Give Up."

In 1987, Peter Gabriel’s album “SO” took me through a hospital stay. My brother brought me a Sony Walkman and the “SO” cassette. I must have listened to that tape 20 times during my stay, I loved it so much! His duo with Kate Bush, “Don’t Give Up” meant so much to me with what I going through. Thanks!!

This song was one of my wife's favorites from the day it came out. The amalgamation of talent on that stage is staggering. Such a diverse collection of talent. WOW! I get goosebumps myself every time I hear it, see it. The individual contributions elevated this song to legendary status. Probably one of the best live performances of the decade. Speaks of the ambiguity between love of others and love of God. Just an amazing song.

This is my favorite song from my all-time favorite concert. I know this comment is very late to the party and you might not see it, but I hope you had the opportunity to watch the whole concert at some point. In Your Eyes was the encore song after everyone had left the stage, which was engineered so that the performers could travel from one section to another via an underground tunnel. How they left the stage was a performance in itself, then the dome came down and when it lifted again as you see at the beginning of this video, they "magically appeared with instruments, keyboard, drum set-up and all, at the front, circular part of the stage. Paula Cole, the young woman singing, joined the concert a week before it was filmed in Italy after Sinead O'Connor left suddenly. She is such a joy to watch as she sings, dances and interacts with Peter and the other musicians. The whole concert is a joy!

Peter Gabriel figured out WAY back in his Genesis days that overwhelming your senses with layers of audio, layers of visual images, could shape the emotional energy in the room. What you see here is a man/band/artist at the peak of his powers. 30 years of life experience making music and performing. He is phenomenal, its very hard not to get lost in it.

Peter is showing us the world the way it’s supposed to be. I saw this in San Diego during the secret world tour. It was the most moving experience in my life. Peter had 15,000 people in the palms of his hand a connection never duplicated in my concert experiences. Peter took us to a place we’d never been a place you can only exists in heaven I assume. When Jamal said it feels more like a spiritual thing is exactly what it was. All 15,000 became one and all you felt was joy and love. God was in that arena that night in my humble opinion. I won the tickets off the radio while cleaning our apartment. I think it was Devine intervention and am forever better because of it. God bless🙏🏻🇺🇸⚓️
