Purdy stood up to the starting defense as the scout team quarterback, that's how they knew he would be special. Ask anyone on the starting defense - they'll all tell you the same thing. Purdy is him

Every 49er fan who’s faithful, knew about Brock Purdy last year, during the preseason. That was the camp talk, was how good this kid from Arizona was!!

You can stay up to date in training camp and you can watch the practice's so I can say I thought he was the best QB in the building but it wasn't till the dolphins game when he came in and balled out that he was who I wanted under center when the season began especially when most of what you saw from Lance was subpar and garopollo was heading out yeah I had a feeling about him in training camp

I remember my coworker was asking me how I felt about Trey lance that year and I told him, “ I don’t know about Trey but I think they should play this 3 string Brock purdy guy, he looks really good in that preseason game” And my coworker goes “he just looks good becuz he’s playing 3rd stringers”. It was quite noticeable that a rookie had so much control of the game so early from the very first preseason game.

@@millsfinancialgroupif you think about it… they ask jimmy to back up Trey. This was before purdy… they signed Jimmy to a guaranteed contract. So why would they dump 6.5m away? Plus if Trey didn’t get injured purdy would’ve back up Trey the next year (2023) but know you what happened instead.

I TOTALLY agree with you. I remember seeing him the first time in a preseason game and asking my son "who's this guy?, he's pretty good, like seriously"...When Trey and Jimmy went down, I honestly didn't feel too panicked knowing we had this guy. I didn't think he was gonna be as good as he is, but I knew he was pretty good. It's crazy just thinking about that. "Who's this guy?" lol

After we drafted Purdy I went to watch videos of him from college and I left a comment, our future starting QB because I saw something great in him, I just didn’t know he would become our starting QB during his rookie year..

In my opinion as a pocket GM, great to good QBs are the most sought after player, roll the dice on trying to get those other undrafted positions, and if you lose out, oh well we play an average guy at those other positions but losing a good to great qb hurts a lot

I recall the preseason game last season when Brock sprinted right and hit a receiver with a dart in the corner for a TD. It was wow! I knew then. TW rushed him and hugged him from the sideline.

So, what you're saying is, Kyle was already looking for a plan B (QB) even though he had Trey. I wonder what Kyle saw early on that gave him buyer's remorse with Trey ... Obviously he had to love him in order to give up the farm in the first place ... but you can see the narrative changed and Kyle was scouting for diamonds in the rough in 2022 ...

All you had to do was watch Trey play in the two games he played in the 2021 season lol. Against the cardinals he was awful. And then he struggled against the lowly Texans in a must win game for the entire first half. A stud QB would not have looked so bad.

It’s more than just a couple games. Kyle at that point spent a whole offseason and season with Trey backing up Jimmy. That’s enough time to tell if a guy has it or not.

⁠@@weilingaby3029 We may never know the truth behind the Brock pick. Even the 49er beat writers have only speculated on it being Slowik. Some have suggested as you state that it could’ve been Griese. But I’m not going to give any credence to Kings statement being he doesn’t cover the team & somehow got an answer that none of the team beat reporters have managed despite asking the question on numerous occasions.

Stoked for my 49ers but if im being honest i been rooting for the Lions all season. I'm glad we won but i cant say I wasn't worried. (Should have seen me the first half. 😒😳🤬) lol But yeah....Detroit has no reason to feel down. Hell of a season, hell of a team, and you'll be in the post season once again next season. Steve Wilks job is on the line here. Our defense is arguably more talented this year and the 49ers have taken a step back. I do not envision a scenario where the defense plays flat again & they lose the SB and somehow keep Wilks.

Not Wilks fault. Hargrave was brought in to rush the quarterback, not stop the run. Chase Young is a straight up liability against the run. Armstead being hurt and missing 5 weeks really hurt against the run. Clelin Ferrel getting hurt on the last week of the season meant they lost their best DE opposite Bosa who could set the edge against the run. Then you play the Packers and Lions in the playoffs and they run the ball down your throat. The Chiefs will try to do the same because if you establish the run then you have Mahomes play action that will be almost impossible to stop.

I think with the early picks they’re drafting with heavy consideration with what they need, but in the latter rounds they focus more on players they like most regardless of position. That’s what I think anyway.

In this case, the coach was compelled to start Lance since they bet the farm on him. As the seasoned veteran, Jimmy came in and was winning when he got hurt. Nothing against these guys, but obviously the best thing to happen for the team was for those two guys to go down. Getting Brock on the field. Best thing to happen in a long time for the league was MVPURDY. People tone in for the story of a generation.

hand to god as soon as i seen us take brock i knew something was up an knew it was very intentional. the writing was on the wall, stevie wonder could have seen the motive/intent. i get it, no one would think this would be the outcome right? but i felt great about it instantly an said he is gonna be our guy just off the intuition that someone saw enough an was convinced. otherwise with trey an jimmy who we couldn't get rid of like a cancer at that point why take a qb? at all??? this was the plan kudos to us for having the big balls to take another swing years later after taking that more magnified swing on lance with that trade to get to 3.... here we go boys! our dynasty starts superbowl sunday vs mahomes of all people. Brock is gonna make amazing growth after this.

What’s you saying Willis? Barring an injury to MVPURDY or major losses of talent, the 49ers are in Dynasty land now. And it starts on Super Bowl Sunday. Other than Mahomes having a slightly stronger arm, everything else is a tossup between these 2 quarterbacks. Yes, Brock has shown he can make big off schedule plays as well. He places number one this year in that category. Can you imagine how well he would do with KC’s offensive line.

9er's defenses is allowing too many points per game :/, Losing Hufanga and having Chase Young play lazily isn't a good look. It requires Purdy to have to play above and beyond to beat the Chiefs.
