Now watch "Hook" next!!! It's really good! From 1991, directed by Steven Spielberg starring Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman. It's basically long after the original story and focuses on Peter Pan living as a workaholic middle aged man with a wife and two children.

John Williams and Steven Spielberg. Dynamic duo! Robin Williams puts it over the top. Also, Dustin Hoffman is perfectly cast as Captain Hook. Ahhhh, I need to go watch it now. I’ll never understand the bad reviews.

I love HOOK. it was going to be a musical, but it was supposed to be like a sequel to the original Peter Pan story. In 1985, Michael Jackson, who is a fan of the story and Disney movie, was supposed to play him, with David Bowie as Captain Hook.

@Daniel j. Milburn That's her mom not Grandma and the lady on the right in the jacket is her older sister, and they've watched things like Vikings, Game Of Thrones, and even The Shining with their mom so I'm sure she could handle Scream well enough

I’m native and I haven’t seen this movie since I was about 5 and wow💀 like I love Peter Pan, but the way they portrayed us. The voices, the red skin, the noses. They made them like caricatures. I’m a history teacher and they look so much like the caricatures we made of the Japanese during the war or the Germans made of Jewish people. It’s insane.

A smoking ChickenFish how is not liking the portrayal of natives being thin skinned. That’d be like telling a Jewish person they’re thin skinned for not liking the caricatures of themselves. Natives faced a genocide and were always drawn like that, instead of the way they are. It’s racist. I know it was back in the day, but still, I can reflect and notice it now, doesn’t make us thin skinned for noticing things.

One of my favorite about Captain Hook, is that he has a very believable fear. The inevitably of time.. And it's represented beautifully with the the waiting jaws of a crocodile literally ticking like a clock. The time Hook is rapidly losing.

In the James M. Barrie's original manuscript pixie dust wasn't a requirement to fly. It was quickly changed after the first stage performance to stop children from trying to fly by just wishing hard enough.

Disney's Peter Pan is one of my favorite old classic Disney films. I'm glad you're guys watching this. I hope you guys watch the other animated films too. Like One Hundred and One Dalmatians, The Princess and the Frog, Alice in Wonderland, and The Black Cauldron. Love you guys!

I got to meet Kathryn Beaumont, the voice of Wendy (and Alice from Alice In Wonderland). She had some nice stories! As for Bobby Driscoll, who played Peter, it was a tragic life.

Peter Pan actually started as a play first, which was successful so the author, James Barrie made into a book. The play used a small flashlight for Tinkerbell - electric lights of any type were still sort of a novelty and this could not have been done with a gas light. But this is why she doesn't talk, at least in the original Disney story. Nana was played by a guy in dog suit who crawled around on the floor. The actor who played the father also traditionally played Hook. I think in this cartoon, although the two characters are drawn differently, they are voiced by the same guy. Peter was always played by a slight woman. Disney was the first to make him a real boy. For the background, watch Finding Neverland. For a comically bad version of the play, watch Peter Pan Done Wrong (or Goes Wrong). When I was growing up, the play was filmed and shown frequently on tv. They "flew" with cables which isn't too convincing. So the cartoon for me was a super-advancement. But the live-action one in the early 2000's is even better.

Thanks for a great reaction to one of my childhood favorites. You should watch the TV series, "Once Upon A Time" for another interpretation of Peter Pan and the other characters from this movie.

Wow this is the first time I see this film on this original version (I'm french). It was my favorite Disney without princess when I was a child. Watch the number 2 and the live action of 2003. They are great.

You should watch Once Upon a Time, I love the way they wrote Peter Pan and Neverland into the story, and they do something really neat with Hook and the crocodile 🐊

HOOK is one film I grew up watching. Steven Spielberg directed it, and had a wide release Christmas Day 1991, but critics were cruel to the movie, stating that Robin Williams was miscast in the lead as well as Dustin Hoffman in the role of Hook. In 1985, production began with Spielberg having the rights to the movie, and pop stars Michael Jackson and David Bowie were in talks to lead the film, but it was halted by Paramount, who then gave the films script to TriStar pictures. On a $75-80 million dollar budget, the film made over $300 million dollars worldwide, and it's considered a cult classic.

"Peter Pan" is definitely one of my favorite Disney classics growing up too! highly recommend "Hook" in the future! as for other classics, I hope you might watch my #1 favorite Disney classic "Sleeping Beauty"! plus I highly recommend 4 live-action Disney classics that I grew up watching as a kid and I know you'll like these movies "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea", "Darby O'Gill and the Little People", and "Davy Crockett - King of the Wild Frontier/And the River Pirates" they're great! so glad you all watched this classic :)

I would recommend watching ABC's Once Upon a Time once you guys have watched many of the Disney films. Also there is a Tinkerbell series, which focuses on Tinkerbell's origins and the story of the other fairies of Neverland.

My theory for the Disney Peter Pan is that Peter Pan and Captain hook are the two opposing sides of Wendy's father George Darling. On one hand you have Captain Hook the tyrannical dictator out to get his own way, demanding that his children grow up NOW. On the other hand you have Peter Pan, the boy George Darling who never grew up and is still there under everything. In the movie, Peter Pan has his victory over Captain Hook and George Darling comes home with a changed attitude to the idea about Wendy having to grow up. Likewise, in the live action Peter Pan, both Captain Hook and George Darling are both played by the same actor to further reinforce the similarity between their characters. Every parent, to one extent or another, has a Peter Pan in them that wants to play with their children forever and have their kids never worry about grown up issues, just like every parent has it within them to be the full-blown Captain Hook. Every parent knows that too much of one or the other will only hurt their kids in the end. There needs to be a balance of the two whilst trying to avoid the bad sides of both.

Peter Pan! This is my favorite Disney of all-time! Peter Pan is one of my favorite fairy tale stories growing up and it means so much to me even now as an adult. You guys got to watch Hook and the 2003 live-action Peter Pan with Jason Isaac ( who played Lucius Malfoy and the villain in Patriot) as Captain Hook/ Mr. Darling and Jeremy Sumpter as Peter Pan. Another Disney classic you should watch is Alice in Wonderland from 1951.

You ladies should do a reaction to a reaction to another classic “flying” movie - Superman: The Movie from 1978, the superhero movie that set the bar for the rest to follow, and showed Hollywood that superheroes were not just children’s films. I recommend the director’s extended cut, or even the 3-hour version, which was only showed once on TV, both of which are on one DVD or Blu-ray on Amazon.
