Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on KZfaq, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on KZfaq. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on KZfaq, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

Peter Paul and Mary were such a big part of my childhood and continued to influence well into adulthood. They were just as good at their 25 Anniversary video as when they were first starting out. The intricate use of their voices in stages was a brilliant idea.

I really am sad that folk music is so unappreciated nowadays. The whole anti-war and civil rights movement that people associate with rock was actually energized originally by folk, and then folk rock. You should try and find some Pete Seeger from the 40s or fifties to hear the predecessor and inspiration for artists like Bob Dylan.

Actually Pete Seeger did some great songs in the sixties. I first became aware of him in the mid sixties, in my native Denmark. We shall Overcome, Oh Freedom, I ain't scared of your Jail, RIding in the back of the bus. All protest and civil rights songs, he did a concert at Carnigie Hall, and many of the songs are from that concert. While we are talking protest songs, we should not forget Phil Ochs, he was very talented, unfortunately also a troubled soul.

Love this trio. They were an American folk group formed in 1961. They had a lot of great hits such as "Puff, The Magic Dragon", "Lemon Tree", "500 Miles", "If I Had A Hammer", "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?", "Day Is Done". They recorded quite a few of Bob Dylan's songs such as "Blowin' In The Wind", "The Times They Are a-Changin'", "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right", "When The Ship Comes In" etc.

There are instances of artists releasing the same song at the same time. Bob's version hadn't charted, so giving it to Peter Paul and Mary was a good move to get the song out there, giving Bob his first hit as a song writer. The Chad Mitchell Trio also release a version the same year. Being a civil rights song, I believe that there was also a push to get the song into the water for the cause. Another instance of groups releasing different versions of the same song is Jefferson Starship and Crosby Stills and Nash releasing Wooden Ships together. The two groups had collaborated on the song and they wanted to release it together.

Back in the day when they came out with Puff the Magic Dragon I was just a kid listening to the Kingston Trio, Johnny Cash and Pat Boone just to name a few and their harmony in that song was magical for my little ears. I love this choice for the 3rd and finale song unless you’re going to surprise us with a 4th. Great Job Shawn.

Shawn, I saw Noel "Paul", and Peter in concert a while ago. Still a sight to behold! I love PP&M and two of my favorites are "Stewball" and "500 Miles" and I also love their cover of "Early Morning Rain" written by Gordon Lightfoot! If you want more Bob Dylan covers, I recommend two from Joan Baez, "Too Many Mornings" and "It Ain't Me, Babe." Both great songs but having Joan sing them took them to another level!

Dylan's recording of "Blowing In The Wind" was released in 1963, but this BBC performance by Peter, Paul and Mary was recorded in 1965. That was the same year the U.S. substantially ramped up its involvement in the Vietnam War, rapidly increasing the number of troops deployed and commencing the first major bombing campaign against North Vietnam. Casualties from the bombings included not only Viet Cong soldiers but also tens of thousands of civilians. Hence it's understandable why the performance is so obviously heartfelt.

Go Bob. I'm a lyrics girl! But the music really brings it, and make them pierce the soul. THIS SONG has been covered by hundreds of artists. Everyone I've loved all my life. Folk artists across the board, such as stevie wonder, Neil Young, and many others too! I was a teenager getting old enough about what was going on in the country and knew all the music anti war and unrest in the 60s n 70s. Many political songs. Love your reaction! Thanks ❤

Bob Dylan was the first album I bought back in 1966. Folk music was my favourite type of music back then. I saw Peter, Paul and Mary in San Francisco at a concert when I was a kid and that may be when I first fell in love with folk music. Bob Dylan wrote about things people didn't want to think about back in the 1960's. Woody Guthrie was one of the first.

Great reaction Shawn, and a personal treat because I've heard the song scores of times, yet somehow missed this particular performance. Puff The Magic Dragon was my first 45, and I played it till it was nothing but scratches. The meaning was obvious to me as a child, not the ludicrous trope of pop culture they have spent their whole lives denying. Once again brother, your words went straight to my heart.

Great point about people who focus more on the musicality of a song vs its lyrical content. Of course both are important but, some people can’t get past the instrumentation and they just don’t listen to the words. I, on the other hand love the music but, want to hear what the artist is trying to say. Dylan was called by the poet Allen Ginsburg, the first great “poet of the jukebox”. Dylan had something to say and his early solo acoustic shows you could hear a pin drop during his performance. Of course he is also stunning creator of brilliant music.

I think most people who've commented on music over lyrics weren't saying "every song" it's that way. TONS of songs back then fall in the opposite direction like Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, but the main purpose of my point was to _not focus_ on lyrics to the extent you miss _the listening_ of a song. You're pretty good at being able to do both so I wouldn't worry too much about.

The first time I heard it was from Peter, Paul, and Mary. I knew Bob Dylan wrote it because I paid attention to those things. Frankly, Bob Dylan had (and has) a lousy voice, and sometimes the greatest lyrics can be sabotaged by a singer with a lousy voice, even if he is the author. But they made Bob Dylan popular to a wider audience.

P, P, and M iconic version. But they play the wrong chords versus the way Bob Dylan Composed it. Always going to the V [5] chord on every line in the verses, 3 lines. Too repetitive. Bob went to the 5 chord only on the 2nd line, and time 1 and 3 to the Root chord [1]. Which makes more musical sense phrase wise to me [Dylan's version].
