Peter, I asked ChatGPT: “How do I ask great questions? What tools can I use to improve the quality of my questions? What metrics can I use to evaluate the utility, relevance, and importance of my questions?” I was blown away by the response. I asked a similar question during the 3-hour live stream with Salim and you said that I should just ask ChatGPT, so I did just that (and Chat’s response was insanely awesome).

Your discussion reminded me why I invested in Pure Storage. They store their data in warm storage where it CAN be accessed by AI readily. Companies who keep their data in cold storage silos will be at a disadvantage.

We should stop predicting what's going to happen by when. It really doesn't serve much of a purpose except for bragging rights if somebody's right and if someone is wrong then nobody talks about it. The most important thing is to recognize that change is a fundamental inevitable part of life. And AI is just another one of those change agents that we must embrace so that we can continue to thrive during our existence on this planet. There's nothing to fear. It's an opportunity to multiply ourselves in ways that only complement our core unique abilities.

I consider myself to be a Conservative (and have all my adult life) and I think a UBI (universal basic income) will happen regardless of the opinion of people that think otherwise. The bottom line is people will get food to eat, shelter, cloths, transportation and recreation or fight you for it. If we tax the automation properly, this increase in productivity could benefit everyone, even those that lost their jobs. Yes, there are ways to pay for the huge cost of the UBI (enough money to cover basic needs) without breaking the bank or being concerned about the number of humans actually working versus the number that do no paid work.

I am glad you mention UBI . . . personally, I think most UBI's don't go far enough in that they are "basic" or "subsistence" level income. I prefer universal thriving income which allows folks to have a comfortable living standard even if they don't work (but they can make more through working). See "The R.I.C.H. Economy" by Robert Anton Wilson which prefers automation. Wilson famously said "unemployment is the cure, not the disease; employment is the disease" (as in all those awful jobs people hate having to grind at). R.I.C.H. is Rising Income through Cybernetic Homeostasis and AI can help transform society in that way. However, you are right governments (and oligarchs) won't want to do that . . . but it would be a new age of education and art and discovery.

Only problem is GPT-4 will send all your board conversations to OpenAI and they'll read it and train on it. Yeah, you can turn off the chat history, but it will make the Web UI less usable and disable plugins / browsing support. So right now it is not an option without leaking company IP, but maybe in the future it will be possible.

I doThai-to-English translation as a hobby -- luckily, and not as an occupation. I have watched as, first, Google Translate and, now ChatGPT have rapidly caught up to my ability to do translation -- and at hypersonic speed. While Google Translate is at about 85% accuracy, ChatGPT (v. 3.5) is at 95%. Version 4 is probably close to 99%. ChatGPT still needs some oversight for those rare hallucinations, but I can see the writing on the wall. Even now, just six months after ChatGPT was launched, I am having a significant reduction in translation requests. Yes, I realize that AI isn't taking away my avocation -- but people are willing to accept 95% accuracy for free (or $20/month), despite the errors that creep in. And that is how AI will erode quality of products in various sectors.

(ok i idid pause the video to write this and it was addressed somewhat after lol) The other perspective in relation to Ai taking jobs, for me is that yes some jobs will be made redundant by AI but other jobs will be created to maintain the infrastructure (software/ hardware etc) to build and maintain these Ai's. In addition to this the jobs that Ai take away will be more menial tasks to a certain degree requiring society as a whole to increase our level of education and knowledge, elevating society as a whole to adapt to the new tech and pushing us further to advance as a society. Another point is calculators and spell check, as an example means for some people we don't need to have our brain focus on those skills and memory so much that we can use the tools provided to spend our intellectual resources pursuing more advanced or interesting projects and tasks, professions etc. I got a bachelor degree in audio engineering as a phonetic speller, i used the tech tools to skip having to focus on spelling and was able to focus on studying the physics of sound and its applications. The people who are scared of losing jobs are people who are scared to adapt, learn and grow. But in time we will elevate our base level of knowledge and ability as a society. Just my unasked for opinion.

28:25 This concept assumes humans given more capacity to create will do more. However, it doesn't consider humans have limits of time, energy, and needs. Just because machines can create 1 trillion of X it doesn't follow that people need or want that much. Just because machines can create 10 of each for each human, it doesn't then follow that in the future there will be that many more people. So, we are hitting the limit of human capacity to consume and thus abundance if we can accept it.

You cannot just have AI draft a contract. An experienced lawyer must review it, or it's worthless. A contract comes alive when there's a dispute. At that point, you realize how much every detail matters. If you didn't have an experienced lawyer carefully review the contract you'll have nothing but trouble (you'll end up losing to the party who did have a lawyer review it).

What I see is using ai to align these parallel components for higher speed with much higher level component numbers, thus not slowing with higher component numbers, thus numbers achieving human level numbers of connections. Not the trillion at this time but emergent properties from huge increases in speed. How do you even build this process in quantum computer states, I cannot conceive how time would factor this.

Wrong. OpenAI and the 130 people there did not invent GPT. Most of the work have been done by countless of AI researches in the academia and the industry during decades. OpenAI "only" scaled and commercialized it once it started to work reasonably well.

I don´t know if universal salary would be good in every country. In Colombia we have kind of that with money given to people just for being poor. I know first hand a bunch of this people who doesn´t work because they get that money. I knew the case of a 23 year old woman who had a job and quit because she didn´t need the money because the goverment gave her that. That´s absurd, that makes people lazy (not always but in many cases it does).

One of the missed biases is delusion. There are many misconceptions and misunderstandings in this conversation. I'll tell you one and can happily send you the others for a fee as I have to spend time writing many pages and explaining them. Look at the "poem" around 37:07 where it says "God in the lab, creating masterpieces" as an example. How is that Bible or even text that makes sense ? Yes it rhymes with thesis, ceases, increases etc but it makes no sense. Had that been some medical product or process done in this way, you would have a dead patient. LLMs and other generative applications have their uses, no doubt about it but the unwarranted hype is off the charts. ...and no it does not become a thought partner, it does not think.

Personally I think you have all 'overcomplicated life' making humans 100% dependant on AI - even to the point of achieving a climax it seems. Life need not be this complicated to enjoy the absolute pleasures that have been bestowed to us. I fear some have chosen the 'long way round' to try and achieve them, not realising they are figuratively right under your nose. Learn to live, truly LIVE in the PRESENT ! .... living in a AI world is beyond human capacity and will simply turn humanity into slaves to a AI system..... The 'Good News' is .... This life is very brief by comparison to Eternity... a Supernatural life far beyond even the capacity of any AI you could imagine. We are all fools in the greater scheme of the Universe. 'True Wisdom' is way beyond mans reasoning and `AI's capabilities.

You said things about bad actors using AI to do bad things. Corporations will use AI and Robots to replace more workers than ever. Banks have less tellers than ever. Operators Done. Nursing will be cut. Warehouse workers will be done. In Korea, the kids over there are killing themselves to past test to get into college to get the better jobs that are leftover, the rest stay at home depressed. Corporations no longer care about the employees. In Asian Countries the reason some of the homeless seems low is because they are living in Closets!! If they can't live with families. In America where the homeless are working poor families, how will they compete with AI and robots? Now none of this will happen overnight, but when it starts it will be like a hurricane. Corporations are the number one bad actors ever. We will have to reform what is living in a free world, and the corporations will not make it easy!!!

You talk about all these things that AI is able to do and still say that a human with AI is going to replace other humans? With AI like this there is no need of any human interference. What are we going to do for making money? How are we going to pay for rent and food? 😢😢😢
