Just wanted to comment that you were a huge part of my last year at school, i finished in 2017 and the memories poured in when i found your channel again. Your artwork really influenced my last art board i did. More over, your small doodles helped me create something out of nothing when drawing was the only thing i did. Totally agree with your love of the scrapyard, nothing silly about it at all. I visited our local yard on my own, not as part of a class, and asked if I could take reference photos - the guy was sort of bemused at first, but by chance I had some of my finished art in my car. So then he understood what I was doing and let me go all around the place and photograph everything - mountains of leaf springs, rusty wheels, derelict truck beds, the buildings and the way everything interacted with the weeds and forest around it. Wonderful experience.

There's a big metal scrapyard not far from where I live and if I could I would sit and watch them sort and compress it. There really is something fascinating about it.

You're right, it was the ethanol free gas that made the difference. Gasoline with ethanol spoils. Considering your background, you should be able to smell the difference with a sniff of the gas tank. Good gas smells like gasoline, spoiled ethanol smells like furniture varnish or lacquer. If you sniff the tank and it smells like varnish, don't even try to start it - odds are, you'll just screw up the carburetor. :) Great drawing btw. :)

2 ways to take anything home from a scrapyard or junkyard photographs and drawings! You can have them without having to own the objects. Just an idea for consideration.

A scrapyard or garbage dump can be a treasure to an artist. I love the randomness of trash. Anyway I draw it is correct because it is random. Quite interesting.

Does anyone else think Peter would make the best housemate ever? Like he's such a character, and I know he might push it a little for videos. But I've been watching him for years and I think he is a little weird in a very pleasant way. Furthermore just an art force of good. I would cook for Peter! And art with you! That would be a dream. Love the pencil art. :) I used to love crawling through the junkyard at the edge of town. It wasn't allowed, though, maybe that's why I did it. Anyway, I used to always bring home little scraps of stuff and make "inventions". Mom just rolled her eyes and told people that at least she knew where I was and I wasn't hurting anything. Hope your throat feels better. Dealing with a cold here today, as well.

its been so long so i watched one of your vids. today this popped into my recommended and im so glad it did cus i forgot how satisfying and relaxing it is to watch them

Man I've been really struggling with my relationship with my own art the past couple of years. My technical skill is not great yet and I don't specialize in one area, constantly hopping from one medium to the next. My artist peers, they're all so good in a particular area and work with such Intention and expertise, I can't help but look down on my art whether it's my lack of skill, lack of meaning, lack of focus etc. But your channel and your words and your art really, really inspire me . They inspire me to just persevere and make my art the way I want, without thinking about what it means or what it could be "if I was just like this" or "had just done that".... My point is, thank you for what you do, and I think I'm not alone in saying that you help me as an artist not just artistically but also personally. For example Instead of lamenting that I can't do realistic drawings I've been trying to embrace my more cartoony style, and your videos really help encourage me to keep that mindset going. I've never been to a junk yard, but I've seen them in movies. I have a habit of tearing things apart to get parts for creating things and stuff. So I suppose my house could qualify as a mini junk supply thing.....

Movie suggestion, if you enjoyed the scrapyard and the cranes/magnet machines so much: "The brave little toaster" It's a childrens cartoon from 1987, about a toaster and some other household-item friends, trying to get back to their human, after he moved houses. And there is one scene on a scrapyard, with a huge angry magnet, which tries to catch the toaster and his friends. Very scary o_O....there are actually a lot of scary scenes...like the moody Air conditioner and when they are at the tinker lab....puh. Recommend this film!

I can confirm that the ethanol-free gas does wonders for small engines like the one on your lawnmower. We have an older tractor-style mower that used to have _horrible_ performance issues until we switched to ethanol-free gas. Same with weedeaters and other two-stroke engines. The switch made them all run beautifully and we haven’t had a significant problem from any of those engines since.

I never liked the thought of thrift shops but when I do go, there’s so much stuff I could remake into my own stuff… I get it 😊

Old gas in the mower will kill it if you don't use it for months. Also, make sure the shed doesn't get mice or rats as they can eat through the plastic of the oil button. You hands shouldn't be shaking from the mower either, that much vibration can actually be fatal to you.

it is my first comment to one of your sketches you have made. I stumble about the Opus88 few month ago and I watch your sketch canal on KZfaq. I'm fascinated about your work an the doodles. In the last I see always the normal pen like fountain pen, rotring or sharpies, in this time I saw the first time you worked with other. I think it's give more depth to the drawing and more substance. I'd like to see more of this work, not so hard, more depth and life. In other drawings I must impress more depth than here.
