Жыл бұрынIn celebration of the four-hundredth anniversary of the publication of the First Folio in 1623, we have gathered each of the four folio editions of Shakespeare’s plays and the 1640 edition of his Poems.
Presented by Professor Emma Smith, our senior specialist Adam Douglas, and Pom Harrington, watch our video to learn more about the history of the publication of the Folios, the differences between each Folio, and their significant impact on the English language.

Wonderful presentation! The best look I’ve had at the First Folio. I think the fact that we have fewer copies of the Third Folio because of the Great Fire is a clue to why we have no Shakespeare letters and few original copies of individual plays-Shakespeare collections were lost in the flames!

And yet we have letters (or similar material) from basically every other actual writer of the time.
