Sonos has reached out and said they will and are fixing the app as we speak. I am heartened and if we give it some time, things will get better. They have released a new version now at 80.02.04. It has a lot of functionalities added back.

Another great video Peter. My biggest beef is queue management. As you have said, I can no longer add a track to the queue at random without replacing the whole queue. How on earth has this app been signed off by the senior management of Sonos. Keep the videos coming 👌🏻

was having the same problem. One tip, activate voice control, then tell sonos to play some music, wait a few seconds, ask it to stop the music. do Truepaly right away. for some reason it works. I did this when I downloaded the new app, then when I updated it. Before that, the trueplay process would start, but it would hang or not start at all.

I had been unable to tune trueplay for a couple hours, the tv dialogue would cut in and out. I got trueplay to work by doing a complete factory reset on all devices. I arc, sub, surrounds. to be safe i first unplugged all sonos devices. then hold down the reset button and pair again to the app in a "new room". do this for each device. i then did trueplay on the arc first, viola it works. then i added the surrounds and did trueplay again. works. then adding the sub. works! try resetting this way, hopefully it works.

Hi Peter, thanks for the video. My system is still a complete mess. Every time that I open the app, system not found, music constantly drops and then the system loses complete room setups. We won't forget that this is not the first time that Sonos has thought itself bigger than it's customers. Remember when they made equipment obsolete overnight, forcing us to upgrade or lose support. If I hadn't invested so much money into Sonos I would go elsewhere. I have emailed the CEO, guess what? Nothing. They need to admit they got this spectacularly wrong and just release the old app which just worked. Beyond frustrated.

The missing features aren’t nearly as big a deal as this overall system instability. Music will be playing and I can see or control it from my phone. I can’t consistently start music even from Spotify when I want to. Volume controls are unresponsive. Just awful

I could solve the Problem with Break ups on Apple Music. On my side it was just the new Arc. Everytime I installed the Sonos Voice control I Had massive problems with Apple Music espacially after Grouping with other Rooms. First time, I even had to make a factory reset because the Arc didn't play any track on Apple Music. Amazon was still fine by the way. After the first issue I reinstalled the Voice control and it happened again. So anyone with problems with Apple Music on Arc System pls try deinstall Voice control.

I have the same network I have had since day one of my sonos set up. Sonos app update comes and system non stop says it can't be found on my network. Sonos blames my network so I drop $300 on a new router setup and same issue still. Their support needs to be told to stop blaming everyone's networks and fix their own damn problem

I’ve hade the same problem with couldn’t find the system… I did a full factory reset on every speaker, arc and sub. This solved the problem. Especially if you’re on a mesh network

I’m so glad you did this video .. I purchased the two era 300s and sub to complete my arc in march, and that update has been ridiculous! . Last week the app crashed and .. and erased my whole system had to start from scratch. I’m sure their focus is now on the damn headphones they need to fix the bugs especially before releasing a rumored arc 2 . It’s ridiculous thx again

It’s a sad day when a real enthusiast like you Peter has to “vent” about a company failing to consider its impact on its customers. Thanks for being honest as it’s influencers like you that can get them to listen. My main issue is that the update was not something I can reverse out. Same with the firmware update- I couldn’t access my system until I agreed to let it update firmware, which I was very nervous about. Software development is hard and mistakes happen, but forcing customers to endure the mistakes with no back out option is inexcusable. Why can’t we just go back to previous version until they sort out the issues? This experience and the approach Sonos has applied has turned me completely off them as a brand and I will not buy another Sonos product, and I’m gonna tell everyone I know not to buy it either! Very disappointed as I was a real fan boy.

Hey Peter, Greetings from Kentucky. The feature I miss the most from the upgraded S2 app is the ability to create and label playlists as well as Downloading albums from Apple Music. Btw, my system still sounds great (Arc, Sub Gen3, two Sl ones) so I’m not touching Tru play until you say it’s working. Love your channel thanks for all you do Peter concerning Sonos.

Thanks for the tip on getting trueplay to finish tuning! Up until now I always had the TV input selected so it failed. As of 10 minutes ago, I switched the input to apple music and was able to complete the trueplay tuning on the first try. The on/off toggle is showing up now and it sounds to be applying the trueplay settings. System is Beam G2 + Sub mini + Era 100 surrounds. I have another HT system (Arc, 1xSub G3, era 300 surrounds) that still has the trueplay tuning from before the app update - I've been afraid to try retune it with all the issues others are reporting. That system also has the trueplay on/off toggle and the trueplay settings sound to be applied even after the app update. Looks like I got lucky with the app issues somehow

Man…. After I realized that there was no longer any way to adjust my surround volume, I’m strongly considering it. I’m tired of them taking isht away. I personally like my surrounds turned up loud 🤷🏾♂️. I can barely hear my Era 300’s now.

Since the "new" app my local music library still plays, but no album art. Also my library is not aways shows at sources..... And to add a library is also gone, I want to those features back! Sonos forums exploded with topic's with problems.... Sonos need to fix this.

Guys, I got mines to work 1. Do a complete reset to your Sonos devices. Do it the recommended way (holding down the pair button) Unplug the deviced before re-pairing. 2. Re-add your sonos devices (to a new room name to distinguish your readded devices). 3. Do Sonos True-play for your main Sonos (Arc). It should work. 4. Add the Surrounds, Do trueplay again. Hopefully it works 5. Add subs if required. Retune trueplay again. Good luck

The biggest issue I have had so far is getting an error when removing sub mini and surround speakers (sonos ones) from my beam 2 setup. It just errored, after power resets, router resets, nothing seemed to work. I wanted to change my ones to era 100s. In the end factory resetting the ones and adding them again separately allowed the sub mini to be removed and then the era 100s could be added as surrounds and then I added the sub mini back and it all works. The ones paired ok as well for another room. So adding seems to work ok, remove not so much.

Agree with all your comments. I Emailed Sonos after your last video and they responded that there would be a fix to the upgrade. Received the update to the app that was supposed to address the issues with the upgrade and it still has the same problems using my iPad and iPhone. Come on Sonos. Fix the problem!

Brand new user here….In late-May I bought 2 Fives and a Port for my existing equipment. For me (with no history) the app is easy to use and seems to be working properly in every way. I have no complaints. I guess I’m too new to realize what’s wrong?? 🤷🏻♂️

People who use the alarm functions, searching/playing local music, switching wifi networks. Seems like some speaker models just don't work at all and are basically bricked. That would definitely be... unpleasant.

Hi guys and Peter. From my app immediately crashing, to very stable now. My trueplay works for my beam gen 1 and 2 systems. I haven’t trueplayed my arc and era 300 system. Still works from S2 app. Didn’t mess with it yet. So far I must say, I like the new app. It’s quite fluid but takes a bit of learning. I am a fan. With upcoming updates it should be sorted soon.

I maintain a Dolby Atmos playlist within Sonos that contains a mixture of 360 tracks on Amazon Music and Atmos tracks on Apple Music. I still can’t add to that playlist unless I use the desktop app on my laptop which isn’t the easiest to navigate. So frustrating.

I know that no one wants to hear this, but my update app experience has been good so far. Aside from just relearning how to navigate, no issues so far. Only improvements on my end. I now have lossless on Apple Music, and my roam 1 which always had connection problems with the app on WiFi is now actually reliable. I do feel for everyone having trouble though, but I thought I would share my positive experience since I haven’t heard a single person say the update was good for them.

Trueplay works for me, however I see a lot of lag, when selecting a song on a playlist the song often doesn’t play - something went wrong error and then it jumps to the top of my playlist and starts playing the first song. It really is horrible.

We bought a pair of Era 300's for the kitchen yesterday and it wouldn't let me do the full 'walk around the room' Trueplay. On a slightly positive note it did at least do the small automatic thing where it's fires a few bleeps around for about 10 seconds 🙄

Thank you for your loud voice on this Peter! .. This recent Sonos update has been a complete and utter disaster. I recently spent over $4k on upgraded Sonos gear and would have jumped at two pairs of headphones had this update not been such a monumental disaster. Now I'm hesitant to spend another dollar on Sonos gear. I'd say this has probably been my worst tech spending experience in several decades. I'm still hurting from the revelation that my ERA300's are lobotomised because I've set them as rears and would need to buy a second pair and set them up as a different zone if I wanted to listen to the ERO300's as a spatial music pair. It couldn't be hard to allow for a virtual zone with just the two ERA300's running fully functional ... GRRRR!!!! But then they can't even get an app to work successfully so maybe I'm asking way too much. Good speakers, crap app!

this "i am moving my phone up / down randomly" will always blow my mind. i am still the kind of guy where the microphone needs to be placed at the listening spot and get accurate results every time with different patterns from the same position... having said that.... imagine having paid thousands of euros in a speaker system and not being able to use it because the "android/apple app has bugs".

Hi Peter, when I first downloaded the new app and I went to equalizer settings I had 3 sliders one for base one treble and a balance slider which allowed me to adjust the balance of my surrounds. Which I thought was great better then setting it by distance. The problem was when I would go out of the app and come back all my settings would go back to the normal settings so I read that you should reinstall the app to fix that. So when I did that the balance slider was gone from the equalizer settings. Kind of wish I hadn’t done that.

Hey Pere, a bit off topic, was watching a movie on Netflix the dialogue was so soft and mudded. Wish sonos would let you increase just the center channel. Using arc, sub 3, 2 sl 1's. For reference I have a very old polk soundbar which I don't have this problem. Seems like I wasted a bunch of money. Sorry for the rant.

I would agree on this and watching S6 of Outlander last night was a pain. Even with speech enhancement on it is difficult to hear the dialog, especially with the heavy accents. It would be great to be able to boost the center channel on the Arc and Playbar.

@Peter Pee, my single Era 300, used for music only, does not show in the iPhone app the music quality, and worse it does not seem to play neither Atmos nor Lossless. However my Beam Gen 1 is showing and playing Lossless. Is a the app/firmware issue?

I agree the new app is not that great I noticed it doesn’t show what volume your on cause there’s no numbers and when it did the update it totally reset my sound settings and true play has to be retuned. I also noticed that I had reconnect my optical cable back to my tv cause I no longer get the sound out of my Xbox as my tv doesn’t decode Dolby digital audio which really sucks and have to increase the volume a lot more than I use to as well

I’ve actually given up on the Sonos app and now just use airplay. I know this isn’t an option for everyone, but if you’re an iPhone user and Apple Music subscriber, not only do you have access to Lock Screen controls, Dynamic Island controls (and if you have and Apple Watch, control from there too), but every single track from my playlists now play without issue compared to when playing from the Sonos app where tracks will skip or stutter. Just a better experience for me personally. I now just consider the Sonos speakers as ‘AirPlay’ speakers.

great vid and details on the ongoing issues... im still having huge issues with the volume slider, its very unresponsive on my iphone 15pro... i tap and try to slide it and it doesnt respond until i try it 4-5x. Also yeah, the lack of volume numbers is so annoying. The old app was pretty boring and limited in some ways, but it worked, this new app is just a hot mess right now. I dont want to go in there anymore bc it just feels clumsy and distracting to my listening enjoyment. Lets hope all of this gets sorted out ASAP

I’ve also found that they have removed clear Autoplay settings for a Line-in source. I have a turntable connected to the Sonos Amp, but in the old app it would autoplay to my main theatre set up in my living room. Fortunately, the settings still seem to work, however, I cannot view the setting which confirms that it will autoplay. I’m concerned that in the future it might stop and I would have to select the input each time.

Every single time I try to play music on my Move 2 (through the app or AirPlay) the music does nothing but skip/buffer. I have to turn the Move 2 off and back on and that resolves it. But this is happening every single time I start to play music.

As of June 8, TruePlay does not work properly. On IPAD TruePlay will show the demo of "how to", and then the button to "start tuning" does nothing. Queue management is not what it was either.

My biggest complaint is every time I get on the app it defaults to the sound bar in the living room, and it’s hell to get it to switch to the room I want. It takes several iterations of unchecking the sound bar and checking the speakers I want for it to switch.

Agreed! I have 7 Sonos speakers, but I've stopped using them. Instead, I switched to a Bluetooth speaker that I move around the house. Sometimes, all the speakers vanish from the app, and other times, they reappear but refuse to play - insisting I use a different speaker for music. 🙄

My thoughts is that they were such in a rush to get Rome too and the Sonos headphones out they gave the app a makeover to impress new customers and screwed up in the process. Now I will tell you that when I try downgrading to an older version of the app I had problems with it recognizing my other Sub in my era 300. And it would not let me add the other speakers on without upgrading fyi.

The function of playing "Top Tracks" from an artist doesn't work anymore. I use it all the time, but after updating to this horrendous version, it's missing. I'm on Deezer, but the samme occurs on Spotify as well.

Another problem is that the zone control is super glitchy. Lots of users (me for one) are reporting that the zone checkboxes don’t work so music blasts out of the wrong zone or the volume control doesn’t work in various zones.

Over the last week I'm finding all my Sonos speakers are going on mute every night. On the Sonos forum it seems this is a common issue since about last Tuesday - Sonos posted one reply a week ago saying they are looking into it, then nothing since, and a lot of comments say they have contacted Sonos support about it and basically been brushed off. Curious as to who else it might be affecting? Things seem to be 2 steps forward, one step back with Sonos at the moment - and customer support seems to have gone out the window entirely.

I just got the delivery of my sub. I couldn't add it to my system. I have a sonos move, sonos arc thats connected vis hdmi to my samsung tv. But everytime i use the app to search for the sub and move , it finds it, i update but doesnt add to my system. The message tells me to lig out, then log in . I do this but nothing changes

I was able to get true to play work , play a song from your sonos music app and pause it , then go to trueplay and run the set up

Trueplay is working for me. Using ARC, Sub Gen. 2 and 2x Era 100. Seems to be an issue with Era 300…

You’re right. I can Trueplay my arc on its own but as soon as I add the Era 300’s as surrounds it won’t complete Trueplay. Very annoying.

Cannot perform trueplay with on surround setup with playbase, sub2, one gen1 and one sl as rears. Gets to the begin tuning and won’t start. Using an iPad.

Just got era 300 as sorround and trueplay just doesnt seem to do anything at all in my new place. Music and sound is just waaay off and screetchy. Hopefully it will workout soon. If it doesnt imma go back to my one sl's as rear sorround og buy the era 100 and sell the era 300..

I solved the Trueplay issue at least for myself. I disconnected the Arc from e-ARC and switched it to music. I used the built in Sonos music ‘your services’. This allowed the trueplay to work without issue. Let me know if this works for you. I have an Arc with two One SLs and Gen 3 subwoofer

Hello Peter. When I open “About my System” in the new App, none of the speakers include the WM:0 or WM:1 information. This information still appears when I view “About My System “ on an old iPad using the S2 App. Any reason why Sonos is not displaying the WM:0 information on the new App?

They need to add onscreen menus to their soundbars so even if the app gets screwed up, you can still operate it. B&O did a similar thing and now the beosound stage is a potato alarm clock speaker.

I want to set my system up ONCE, have it sounding wonderful and have it STAY that way without some damn app auto updating and screwing everything up. Why does that seem to be asking too much?

The new app was nowhere near ready for release but I don't really see anything wrong with frequent updates. If they can keep the fixes coming quick then that's better than having everyone wait for a major release. (Unless they are releasing fixes which cause more problems). I'm actually brand new to Sonos and apparently I've decided to purchase at the wrong time. I just assumed that great software was probably one of the reasons they were so popular, so i thought they would have nailed it. The sonos unboxing experience was excellent. The quality of hardware excellent. The second I opened the app the issues started and it really put a damper on the experience. Luckily the sound quality saved things but I am still getting loads of issues with the app, so hoping things start to get better soon.

The update still fail message for me. And new app refuses to play Spotify to beam g2 without another speaker being included in the group. New app really failed
