Fentanyl has infiltrated American cities and is now the drug of choice. Join me and local Bryce Batcheller who explains to us the Fentanyl epidemic and how the drug is being laced in cocaine, pain pills and even marijuana. We start in affluent Newport Beach and end up in down-and-out Skid Row to see how Fentanyl is affecting all segments of society.

I'm 3 years sober, and I watch these videos as a reminder of what will happen if I relapse. I'm thankful every day that I get to wake up after the damage that I've done to my body from these types of drugs. I hope anyone who is struggling with addiction is able to get help and recover. All it takes is to want it. EDIT - THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR THE KIND WORDS! Such an amazing community on here. GOD bless you all. PS, I'm going on 4 years now. We do recover!! Stay strong. I hate that psilocybin gets grouped with drugs like cocaine and heroin. Mushrooms are a remedy, not a vice! I went on a microdose treatment for a couple of months and within the first week, every sight of a cigarette got me questioning why I was doing all that to myself. It really works.

My brother Bobby passed away from FentanyI in June 2020. The rehab he was at had to stop services (group therapy, one on one training, etc) and his part-time job had to lay him off. He relapsed and overdosed from FentanyI. He wasn't the stereotypical addict who would steal and harm those around him, he was a kind, loving, soft-spoken man who just needed some help. Love you always Bob.

I know it's highly addictive if taken too often so I only took one to go to sleep for two nights and then I finally fell asleep on my own.... I was addicted to Fentanyl patches back from 2008-2010, before Carfentanyl even came out on the streets. It started after I used my Moms Dilaudid’s after she passed of cancer and my opiate addiction grew from there. I got up to 100 mg patches and would cut up the patch and suck on the pieces. My friend with MS would sell his patches to buy crack. Harm reduction saved my life and I’ve been sober since 2010. I’m so thankful I’m still here to raise my son, whose now 15❤

I was on heroin for 2 years after being prescribed opiates for 6 years. I got clean cold turkey in my apartment during lockdown. The first two weeks I thought I was going to [redacted] myself. I have never experienced such suffering. I had no maintenance meds. I felt great mentally once the second month started to roll around, but the fact of the matter is: I had never tried an opiate before my operations. I was in an accident that almost lead to two amputations. So I live with terrible pain and a terrible fear of opiates. My pain began to get in the way of my life, no matter how many aspirin I took. So I contacted my doctor and am now on a very low but incredibly helpful doseage of opiates again. I feel that my fear of what it can turn into keeps me in constant fear of growing a dependency. I only take it when the pain gets very bad, not every day. There is a fine line between pain management and an opiate addiction. I want to clarify that the only reason I even made the switch years ago from my prescription to street drugs was that no pharmacy wanted to fill my prescription. The stigma surrounding pain management made this situation so much worse, because every Fent death was regarded as an "Opiate" overdose. When people hear about my accident; there is genuine concern and care. They ask about the pain; again with sincere care. But once I say, I'm managing my pain with opiates; the dynamic of the conversation immediately switches and I am now viewed as a junkie. Really odd situation we have going on right now. (Thanks for reading.)

Thank you for sharing your story. Although I have never dealt been addicted to drugs, I’ve had several opportunities with the numbers and amounts of opiate prescribed to me after several surgeries of the past few decades. You know how they always ask after surgery (and through recovery), what would you rate your pain, on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest? One doctor explained to me that it was his aim to take the edge off, maybe lower it to about a 6 or 7 within a day after surgery, and then start the healing process. He said that he wanted me to be aware of the pain through healing, and understand that with each passing day it would begin to plateau before it dropped again. Pain medication was only to be taken strictly as needed - not to eliminate 100% of the pain. Personally, opiates always made me feel ‘slow’, they literally darkened my world (my pupils were constricted, so yeah it was darker), and they constipated me. I had what I called ‘flash’ dreams where colors were Technicolor-vivid and dreams were emotion-laden action, nearly to the point of nightmares. So, flash forward….Just days ago, I had a surprise dental emergency, requiring an emergency root canal. Loads of pain. Based on decades of previous medical procedures, I expected a prescription for an antibiotic (got it) and a few days of a pain killer (nope!). During the procedure, I noticed the endodontist used oil of cloves, an ‘old-timey’ oil mild topical anesthetic. Hmmm….I was told to go home, take some Advil for pain and get some rest. Advil? I’m unable to take it because it burns my stomach and causes intestinal bleeding. What next? Extra-strength Tylenol, but gotta watch too much/too often to prevent liver damage. My pain was a solid 9, as my tooth was abscessed. We’ve gone from doctors overprescribing opioids to now under prescribing them.

I understand what you're going through and how us addicts can be judged. This is not what I am doing so I hope it doesn't come off that way. I just want to say that "opiates" aren't just what a Doctor prescribes. Heroin, morphine, oxycodone, dilaudid, fentanyl, tramadol and the many others are all opiates. It very frustrating how we get judged by people that don't understand this desease we have.

@@russmaddeaux78 aaaaaah!!!! Drug addiction and alcoholism is NOT a disease!!!!! I can't even stand hearing that excuse anymore. The cure is to STOP DOING IT. Disease does not have that choice AND it is Not intentionally self inflicted.---Take all meds according to directions and don't get cute and start self medicating and there would NEVER be a problem otherwise you would see every little old lady with a hip replacement, out on the streets with a walker trying to cop a bundle and shoot up. And...you Never see that!!! Stop the excuses and take responsibility for your own choices in life and stop blaming others. Now that little old lady can only get an aspirin for hip replacement because of all the irresponsible axxxholes. Ridiculous how the rest of us always have to suffer for the handful of, out of control jerks. SMH---and I am old and have seen both sides of opiates from nursing. And the street addict niece and nephew. And a dead brother from Rx abuse and a paralyzed sister in law in nursing home for life at 50yrs old from dirty needles. That was 2 yrs ago already and she still can't move anything from neck down.--So...do what the doctor says and don't suddenly grow a brain that knows better than his directions and you will Never have this horrible problem.

I spent 8 years of my life chasing a high that tried to kill me several times. Thankfully I had an understanding father who never judged me or got mad and instead helped me every time I needed it. *RIP* to the best father a girl could ask for. The formula to Narcan needs to be adjusted and divided into more than one type but more effective. Some Fentanyl is mostly animal tranquilizer from the videos I've seen most of the dealers use it on the East Coast. I bet you can almost trace certain Fent to certain cartels or home grown labs because of it's chemical make up.

@pouya not to mention the depleted amount of Dopamine Seratonin and other amino acids that are very important for brain function. Xanax can be used to alleviate some of the body aches and pains they get from with draw but they need a lot of Omega 3 fish oil to replenish neurotransmitters. Looking at it from a holistic approach. Micro dosing at very small levels might help however Fent is man and makes it severely volatile.

Thank you so much for this informative video. Just recently about 2 weeks ago I was at a friends house and I took a small hit off a water pipe thinking it was some dab thc and almost instantly I got strong head daze like if I stood up too fast and my head started to black out. I didnt faint or black out but I had to lay down for a couple hours and it felt like I was experiencing a really bad hang over from a whole night of drinking or something. So once I felt like I could stand and at least move around once again I started my trip back home. I had about a 45 min ride home and during that trip home I threw up 3 times really badly, then once I got home it took me like 2-3 days or rest just to feel recovered from this 1 small hit i took of a water pipe days before. The reaction I got from it was almost exactly how one of the guys in this video described it would happen. Now I'm not sharing and pipes or anything that could possibly have this crap in it because even a tiny amount left over in someones pipe can do that kinda damage to me I cant even imagine what it would of been like if it was an actual hit of fentanyl, it probably would of killed me so I was very lucky that wasn't the case. I am being super cautious now and only using my personal stuff and sharing with no one now not even friends its not worth the risk..... Thank you again for this video it was extremely informative...

@@thecleanoutcrew497 I actually had to read into who the West Point Cadets are! And I have no clue why I said 5, when the post says it was 7 college kids! 🤦‍♀️ Regardless - it does make the whole situation even worse, knowing the path those kids were on. 😕 And I did read that they arrested the guy selling the fentanyl laced cocaine that killed them. The sad thing is he's only 21! I highly doubt he had anything to do with the decision to add freaking fentanyl to the cocaine. He's most likely a lower level dealer, making almost nothing himself. While he needs to be held accountable too, there is someone higher than him who really deserves to pay. Well really China and Mexico- they are killing us off! China is killing us off. Mexico depends of the money we give them for the drugs. This is just my opinion. But China... They don't give a shit about our drug money. 75% of the crap filling our homes is "made in China" - they already have us dependent upon them and now they're killing us off. And the opioid addiction is so damn strong that I dunno if the addicts would ever be able to choose to spend their money elsewhere. Or maybe that's what was happening and that's why dealers are sneaking fentanyl into cocaine! And Xanax and methamphetamine! It's just heartbreaking... Ok, rant over. ✌️

I strongly believe you are offering a solution through spreading awareness regarding the situation itself, its a extremely complex situation and frankly there might not be a possibility to save every addict out there. But just like Bryce said in the video, one solution is to work proactively and you are in a way by doing these videos. Spreading this tragedy is extremely difficult but it might make a diffrence for someone considering using.

Man towards the end of this video really brought me back. Standing around with 2 friends and meeting a stranger, talking with him, two more show up, and suddenly you have 3 convos going at once on a random street corner. Or park, or bus stop. I miss just chilling with friends talking about nothing and walking to no where. My sister was a user (clean now 🙌) and I smoked pot with friends whose siblings and parents did harder drugs, so I was in that environment but as a spectator, I'm thankful that I was able to see that other side of it and knew better when that junk was offered to me. (Not by friends, by associates)

Well done to your sister! You too for being strong-willed. It couldn't have been easy for you both growing up and being in that environment. It was nice to see positive outcomes - you did that ❤ you and your sister ❤ who I hope 🙏 are now reaping the benefits of the good choice and decisions you made. It's not easy growing up trying to find your way in life when those responsible for us and the examples around us fall short of meeting their responsibilities! I can't say it enough you did good!!! I'm not sure if that's your child in the profile picture but just think of the fantastic role model you are or will be. You've already broken the chain with the changes you've made already ❤

@@emmbieemmbie2131, I had a feeling something wasn't right with him when he got home and his addiction has always kept me on edge, so when I heard that death snore, I already knew what it was and jumped into action. It took the rescue squad to get here to finally get a pulse back for him bc the EMTs couldn't get anything to work to get his pulse back. He went to rehab a day after our B'day (March 9th), completed rehab and now is in sober living doing amazing in Winchester, VA. After it all happened he said that he knows that his body can't handle it anymore and that if he does it again that he'll more than likely die. I have more hope in his addiction bc he never shot up and always snorted it and feel like he has more of a chance unlike if he had been shooting up all them years. We just lost another good friend last week to this deadly disease and our buddy died in the parking lot of the rehab center he was checking into. There was a photo of my twin and our friend at the funeral Monday and that's really gotten him shook up about his addiction and recovery bc he knows that if could of easily of been him as well!

@@michaelsparrow2724 thank God! Thank you for the positive story. A friend of mine went to rehab and didn’t return home afterwards. He knows returning to that same environment is too risky.
