Hi all. This is the second and final build video of the Tamiya Wild One kit. This covers steps 25-41 which completes the kit. I have realised that I didn't mention step 41 because I route the wires in a different way to the standard build. Really nice kit this and one that I think a beginner could build. This was a kind gift from the RC Elf so big thanks to him. I'm going to try to get a speed test done with this when the weather is better so look out for that. Meanwhile, thank you for watching. Please like and comment and all that :-)

Hi there. Yeah I'm happy with the final result. Oh yes I don't know why I didn't glue both sides of the tyres in the first place. I normally do. Many thanks indeed for your great feedback. Much appreciated 😁👍

Man I love that gun metal color on this! I thought the black looked tough but I am in love with the gun metal look of it!!! It looked fantastic out there and boy did you get a ton of sand in those tires!! Great job on the build and the little fixes to shore up any of the weak spots as well!!

Hi Addam. Yeah I always thought that gunmetal would suit this and I'm really happy with it. Oh yeah it was a mistake to only do one side of the tyres. What was I thinking! Many thanks for your great feedback my friend. Best wishes to you 😁

Lovely video as always, I like the pace, very fast but still understandable. I missed part one, I need to go back and watch it at some point, but I saw it finished here and it looks great, especially out in the dirt, it's a really nice buggy! Have a great rest of the weekend there!

Hi there. Yeah with this video I was going for an easy watch for the casual viewer as Mark Bryan has already done a detailed build guide for the Wild One. Glad you liked it. Part one is the same fast format. Yes it runs really well and is great fun. Many thanks indeed for your great comments and enjoy what's left of the weekend 😁

I am just about to build mine in memory of my late father who built my original one with me back in 85 so big thanks for this video, it's going to help. I had hoped that Tamiya would sort out that slack gearbox on the Re Re but I guess it's a case of more shim's just like back in the day 👍
@PeteWylieRC

Hey that's a nice thing to be doing to remember your dad. Hope you enjoy the build and that it brings back happy memories. Tamiya don't seem to be too good at improving the kits when they bring them back. The shim does seem to do the trick though. Many thanks indeed for watching 😁👍

Hiya John. Yeah I do like this original version and this one is very much a runner. The Blockhead will probably have quite an easy life with a brushed motor! Thank you for your great feedback as ever my friend. Best wishes to you and yours 😁

Great looking wild one, and performed superbly. This is one of the models that got away from me, which I regret to this day. Unfortunately hurt my back and was out of work for a while a few years back, had to sell the original NIB wild one and original NIB FAV I had kept for years. Luckily have a shelf queen FAV, but still not been able to get a wild one as yet. If i do get lucky and pick up a wild one, will be watching this again to remind me of your mods. Thanks, have fun and hope ya gearbox works flawlessly now 😎👍

Hi there. That's a great shame about the one you had to sell 😞 I'm sure that the re-release ones will be available again. I did miss out previously and then they released them again. Many thanks for your great comments and hope you get to own one before too long 😁

Thats a good way to smuggle sand home, if you need it, might take a while before you get a decent amount though for anything practical. I will have to look at my Blackhead Wild One soon, as its getting to build season for me. Great video, lots of tips, enjoyed 👍
@PeteWylieRC
@PeteWylieRC Жыл бұрын
Oh yeah but I think the best way to smuggle sand home is to run a short course truck or rally car on the beach and you will have at least half a metric tonne in the chassis. I'm going to leave my Blockhead kit for a little while as obviously it's nearly the same kit. You'll like this build and the end result I'm sure. Many thanks for watching.

Another great/informative video Pete! Wow, I've said it before and I'll say it again - These old school RC cars look so much better than most of this modern character less stuff flooding the market today!.... maybe its just because this was 'our' generation and I'm just getting old and nostalgic?! But, great to see her running/taking the modern electrics like a champ! Nice tips on the body reinforcements though fella! Yep, bloody sand gets in everywhere.... Got enough in the tires of my tamiya fleet to start my own beach! 🤣 😂 👍 👍 👍
@PeteWylieRC

Hi there. Yeah I must say that I like the buggies that actually look like real buggies the best. I'm not sure why there aren't more modern ones that look like scale models. Also the handling of this has character and is great fun. I reckon the best one for having the retro looks and being able to cope with a brushless set is the Kyosho Turbo Scorpion. It's got metal gears and fluid filled diff etc. I haven't had many problems with it and it looks gorgeous. Anyway good to hear your thoughts. Many thanks indeed for your support. Best wishes to you 😁
@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC

@@PeteWylieRC Agreed mate! Good job that there's lots of 'traditional' tamiya and Kyosho re releases to choose from then eh? I haven't got a turbo scorpion(yet!) but have had similar kyosho models in the past and would totally agree with what you say.... much as I'm a die hard tamiya fan boy, the quality of components/engineering/capabilities of the kyosho models are superior in comparison. I usually stick with good old brushed motors myself, the superstock rz and technigold motors perform very well in most of our mainly tamiya fleet, and are a good match! But.... getting hold of technigold brushes is starting to get very hard now!! 😂 All the best fella, keep up the great work!! 👍 👍 👍

Happy Saturday, Pete! Great conclusion too the build with a few top tips as always! I like your body fix, those sides are always flapping about on mine! Must give that a try! Looks like you had a lot of fun out there with the Wild One, it's a classic Tamiya that every fan should have, I think! All the best, matey, catch you later! :D
@PeteWylieRC
@PeteWylieRC Жыл бұрын
Hiya matey and happy Saturday to you too. Oh yeah I knew that the sides of the body were an issue and I thought that just making them more rigid would be enough but I did need that extra little fix. They can still come loose in a big crash but generally they stay on. A classic as you say and unlike some of the other early buggies, this actually drives really well. I did watch your rally vid yesterday but I needed to crack on with dinner after that so I'll pop back over and leave a comment in a bit. Many thanks for your great feedback on this mate. Best wishes 😁👍

Awesome build Pete and great tips for the improvements. Gearbox/differential and drivetrain issues remember me on the ORV. I'm just curious, is that the same spot where Paul Fulton runs?

Hi there. Well I've not tried this fix in my Blackfoot but some people did say they'd had success using shims. The size of the bearing is 5mm hole, 9mm diameter and 0.3mm thickness. I got a few so I could add more than 1 if needs be. Many thanks for watching 😁
@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC

Hi Mark! Yes, the shim in the differential does work.... for a while! But, if you are running anything quicker than a silver can it won't be long before the metal gearbox plates warp and the bevel gears start jumping about and stripping teeth!! 😞 Trust me,I own 3 monster beetles, a blackfoot and a mud blaster.... so can safely confirm this is a blatant design fault that dates back to the eighties! If you want to resolve this issue for good(and improve performance) then the MIP super ball diff kit is AWESOME! It's easy to fit, but sadly not cheap (approx £70)....but trust me, forking out the money was a far better option than nervously waiting for that dreaded clicking to return and having to strip the diff/replace parts time after time! 😤 Good luck fella! 👍 👍 👍

what kv motor is that ? i am trying to find a good brushless esc , and i love Absima controllers , i use cheap chinese esc at the mo, but maybe a 40 pound investment in a good one may pay off . Can you recommend one for 2-3s ? great vid , tim, southsea

Hi there. It's the 3421kv Absima Thrust combo. These are good and I'd also recommend the Robitronic Razer 10 ones for pepping up an RC. I only tend to run with 2s but they are rated for 3s also. Thanks for watching 🙂

Will old school type 7.2v batteries fit?
@PeteWylieRC
@PeteWylieRC 7 ай бұрын
Yeah it's designed for the old school batteries. Depending on the exact size of your battery you may need to run the wires through the side of the chassis which is what Tamiya show in the instructions. I don't like to see wires so I am using that smaller battery and running the wires inside. Many thanks for watching 😁
