no n o no no no. okay this is my problem. you say you want petite models to succeed? What if we are passionate about fashion,high end and even runway. We can CHANGE the industry and it is ironic because the fashion industry actually promotes diversity and I have to accept it it has brought down some requirements to be a high end model. but what about the height requirement? like you said we can look longer in picture its all about technique, about practicing.Designers shouldn't only make sample sizes for tall people they should create for petite models too. looking at a business perspective I feel like it would actually increase sales and it will gie your brand a good image since you are promoting diversity. just imagine a short model in a runway. that would turn heads the brand and that model would be all over magazines and other runways. WE CAN CHANGE THIS INDUSTRY. #DIVERSITY

It actually depends on what market you live in. I'm 5'0, but I've been in 5 fashion shows. The producers liked my walk. I've also been published in a couple of magazines and a brochure. Look to your local markets. That's a good start!

I am 5 “2” and called a commercial agency after I applied- I got rejected due to my height. Even when I posed to look taller, they read the description of the height. I will make sure to read the requirements more thoroughly next time. I will never give up.

This helped so much! Im only 5'2 (last time i checked) maybe 5'3 now. I've wanted to be a model since i was a little girl and everyone ive ever met has always encouraged me to do so. Im gonna try my best to reach my goals and this definitely gave good advice.

About 6 really good agencies invite me to their castings. And my height was always big problem. It broke my heart. I like photoshootings but I always wanted to be “catwalk” model, high fashion etc. But my friend recommended me to try beauty pageants. The winner prizes are often often runway shows. Maybe it will help someone

I was wondering, say you were looking for jobs. Devine Avoki is 5"5 and she's a runway model. I'm just wondering is she considered a petite model and would others like her height have a (very small and) slight chance of being a runway model too?

Hi Jodie, yes Devine would be considered petite and yes the opportunity to become a petite model on the runway is very slim. It isn't impossible but the opportunities are just small. One would have to work hard and diligently to walk the runway as a petite model.

i never was insecure or worried about my height at 5’2”. i was actually really happy with it as it made me different. that was until i started thinking about being a model and becoming really inspired by that idea, and within days of getting really excited, my hopes dropped when i realised i was never gonna be tall enough. i’ve decided not to care and go and rock the runway because that’s what i want to do. i’ll work and i will get there, and i’m not going to settle for another category which i’m not happy with.

So your saying that 1. They need to appear as a tall person as possible and they know there place 2. They need to submit the right photos. But your forgetting the real reason why "petite" models are not taken seriously. I think your also forgetting when a woman steps across that line where the stereotype she is portraying can no longer be used. I have seen models and honestly it is the same thing no matter which way they use there bodies. In the end they will need somebody because it is a reality. You can no escape that. Is it a good feeling when the person you are with does not see you as number one.

if you have dream/goal or just really passionate about something specifically to this, you don't let the "height rules" they have discourage you. models like Eva Marcille & Devon Aoki who are both 5'5 are very successful high fashion models. i'm not bashing this video but i feel it is helpful but discouraging at the same time.

I’m 15 and 5’4 and I’ve stopped growing, I was always taller then all my friends as a child and everyone thought I was gonna be tall because my mom has 7 siblings and 5 of them are 6’5 so I really did think I had a chance but I got my dads genes and I have definitly stopped growing, I hope hope hope that we can break these stereo types and standards one day and I hope I can be the one to do it, that’s my life goal

You could more likely get into high fashion runway since you are considered *TALL* & that's the starting point for high fashion/runway modeling begins, however you most likely have to have a certain look & a great body that the agencies would want to look for *IF* you have that as well...

All the inclusion the industry supposedly champions(plus size,trans,disabled which is great imo)and not ONE truly petite model. You can be in any category in parentheses above but not short?🙄
