I agree about the good information in some brand’s reviews. I now tend to buy mostly from brands that post the most reviews and also the most detailed measurements. Really saves on returns!

If anyone has a Talbots, they usually carry a fairly large Petites side of the store. They will even order for you and take care of the online part, your order comes to your house and can be returned to the store. This takes an extra step out of buying clothing when I find things I really like at Talbots. Macy's, Abercrombie & Fitch, Banana Republic, the Loft, all have some nice petites. A big discovery for me is that Abercrombie & Fitch has "Curve Love" pants in petites. The additional information shows extra short (22" - 26"), short (27" or so) and on up. I am in the extra short range and really like the fit of the Curve Love jeans. 😊

I really don't sew anymore because petite sizes are available now, but when I was in high school I sewed all my clothes. I figured I was going to have to hem store bought ones anyway so why not just make my own.

Petite shopping can be an adventure....but, knowing your measurements is the key (what I hammer home to clients)!

As a petite, I really struggle finding pants. Honestly, I dont even know what my size is any more as all these pants fit so differently so I have to try everything on. That's why I stayed away from online shopping for clothes. But I think you make a good point about online shopping. I am going to give it a try. The measurements will help a lot for sure. Thanks for all the great suggestions. PS What a nice introduction you have in the video. It's awesome! Also, your pups are so cute and well behaved. Mine would have barked through the whole video and knocked down the camera, too. Lol

Hey Mona! You made me laugh about my dogs 😂. I didn’t realize they were even in the footage until I edited but that’s real life right!! 🤣. Are you looking for dress pants, jeans or something else? Let me know and maybe I can give you some suggestions on brands to try. It’s such a shame that brands make it so difficult for us.

Ha ha Real life is the best. For me jeans are easier to find a good enough fit ( I like the fabric of Old Navi jeans), but dress pants the hardest. I actually got my best dress pants at thrift stores but that is like treasure hunting. You never know what you are going to find and you cannot plan the shopping in advance. Like you, I am 5 feet tall and pants will be on the long side. That's why I will follow up on your suggestion of finding a go-to tailor when needed. It really will be worth the investment. I don't know why I never considered it before. 🤦‍♀️

@@anamelikeothers okay here’s my suggestion. No matter if you find something at a thrift store or at a store, if you love the way they look on you except they are too long. Especially if it’s something that can be a staple in your wardrobe. Spend the money to get them tailored for you. Take the shoes you will most likely wear with them to the tailor and put them on when they mark the measurements. And fyi, I always take the highest heel I would possibly wear. It’s worth the money to have basics that fit YOUR body. You got this!!!

Struggling to find jeans/pants with inseam shorter than 30”. I am unable to wear heels now, and prefer 27-29”, to avoid hemming charges of $25 at my tailor.

I hear you Diann. If I don't wear heels I need a 27-29 inch inseam as well. When raw hems became popular over the last few years, I just started cutting my jeans to make them the right length. (I have a video on that if you're inerested). And honestly, for jeans I don't want to pay for tailoring so I will continue to cut them to length even when it's not on trend. Thanks for commenting, I enjoy hearing back from other petites. We all have the same struggles! ❤❤

As a petite, I shop online because, as you say, there are few petite sizes in the stores. Not only is that unfair, but when I have to pay delivery charges, it's a hidden tax for being short. It's discriminatory., especially when stores carry plus sizes. What do you think?

@@LoriLundquist No, I have not reached out to any brands. Sometimes, I get free delivery if I create an account with a. sign-in and password. The sign-ins and passwords add up for each purchase of petite clothing. It is a time-consuming annoyance, mainly if I need to remember the password. Another gimmick is to spend a certain amount for free delivery when ordering online, which I find unconscionable. Why should a Petite person have to meet a dollar amount threshold for free delivery? Thank you for exploring and sharing your experience with this topic.

Totally agree. The stores should at least have samples to try on so you know what to order. The Gap in particular infuriates me because they claim their brand is all inclusive but not if you are petite‼️

I struggle with rise. I’m 5’2” and all legs. Sometimes petite pants are too short. But if I do regular, I get that unattractive saggy crotch!

@@LoriLundquist same as petite, too short. I need the petite rise and maybe 1/2”-1” longer in leg. But you know how it goes-every brand, every item I put on is different! Sometimes I don’t need petite at all!

I spend a fortune on tailors because I’m short 5’0” and wide. I just bought pants labeled, short and the inseam was 30-1/2”. Thanks for these tips!
