I just don't understand why someone would drive a pole into the ground in this way. How do you get it plum and level? And how long will it stay standing without any concrete. And there should be a few inches of crushed stone at the bottom for drainage otherwise the post will eventually rot.

round posts treated for ground contact will last at least a decade, and when they decay it will be in the first 5 inches below surface. No concrete, just dirt. I replaced a fence last week that had been 15+ years in south Florida pasture and those posts were as good as the day they were placed.
