In this week’s Made to Drive episode we fold ourselves into the cockpit of Jasbir Dhillon’s 1991 Jaguar XJR-15 to experience one of the rarest and rawest supercars built in the 20th century. Aimed at transferring the Le Mans-winning XJR experience to the road, just 53 examples of the XJR-15 were produced with the help of Tom Walkinshaw under the banner of Jaguar Sport, and only 27 were optioned for road use. Powered by a beautifully shrill six-liter V12, it’s a lesser known but no less sexy staple of 1990s supercardom, and one of the finest examples of a “race car for the road,” of any decade.

The thing that you always take away is the people that you meet as a result and the relationships that you make, real lifelong friendships. Thank you for your kind comments and views ! i I wanted to make a small correction in the content in light of some recently reviewed factory records, conversations with Astec employees that built the chassis and the designer Peter Stevens. There were actually 50 production XJR-15 chassis built, not the 53 mentioned by me in the film. This has been propagated on wikipedia as well and is simply incorrect. Just wanted to clarify that so that the information being shared is correct. Thanks again for your kind feedback, making this film with Petrolicious and talking about the things i love (family, friends and cars) was a truly lovely experience ! Jas Dhillon

Wow, simply wow. The car is beautiful, the noice is a symphony, the road is energetic and the view is spectacular. But less often is the driver injecting knowledge, respect, and tranquility to make this video greater than simply a car video. Jas formulates ideas of passion, friendship, and defines driving to be long lasting memories of other like minded people that you can meet. His words are well chosen, his voice complements his love of cars, and his description of the past, present, and future adds a new level of automotive journalism: the human touch. In fact, words cannot describe the synergy between Jas and the car. You can feel a difference in this video.

That’s where it all started. My love of cars.” And now, because of that game, because of XJR-15 and XK8 I am a massive Jaguar fan, and also a massive car guy. It is crazy that I’m watching the same car, but now with different emotions. Cos, as the guy said, the passion really lets you meet new people and create a bond that lasts forever. Thank you, Jaguar! I had that same feeling as a 6 year old back in 1998 when I first saw the XJR-15, became a favourite of mine instantly to use. I always used to think of the design as a kid to a B2 stealth for the road just like the Countach 25th in black being like the F-117 Nighthawk. Those designs really appealed to me and still do. It's easy to instantly see the thread of this car through the modern McLaren, even down to the dual headsets used in the modern P1. As far this car, thank God for Walkinshaw and Stevens. The innovative engineering they had almost 30 years ago is amazing. And with Jaguar's racing history added with the fact that they made these road going race cars makes it difficult to understand why Jaguar doesn't have more of a stake in the modern supercar/hypercar game. Beautiful analog driving and simply breathtaking scenery, the blueprint of all the great Petrolicious videos.

It was an amazing video when it was just about the car. Then his dad came into the picture, then those shots of his kids smiling while in the cockpit. This brought tears to my eyes, absolutely fucking beautiful. I wouldn't have expected this level of emotional intensity from such a valuable car, as sometimes Petrolicious videos about the rarer stuff tends to seem a bit too emotionless.

I think this man embodies what a car enthusiast is about, he could very well choose a modernized super car with all of the baby monitors, but he chooses to drive something visceral, something that delivers raw performance, but has its quirks such as a hot cabin and crazy loud engine noise. Much respect. I will be researching the XJR-15 as it has peaked my interest. The performance of numbers of that car are impressive by today's standards.

just bored Tv ruins these formats. Look at Leno and his tv show. The producers always telling him to slow down. Aside from the audio quality Leno's KZfaq channel is million times better. Petrolicous would be ruined by tv formatting and it's producers. Look at newest version of Wheeler Dealers...Edd left because producers said the format of recording the detailed repair work was too expensive and time consuming. So they dubed it down to simple repairs only on film. Edd left and rightfully so. The detailed repair work was the ONLY reason I watched. Edd was very talented. Mike is annoying and goofy. TV ruins artistic production. Tv is about numbness and dumbness as cheaply as possible.
