My brother. It was you and your videos that bright me t the exciting world of MINI. I’ve since bought my first Mini. Searched for some time and pulled the trigger on a Mini R60 S ALL4. Black on black with the whole car in murdered out black. I bought it online and had only driven one locally from our Mini dealer in our city. But that short test drive made me fall head over heals in love with these cars. I’ve always driven an Audi or Subaru so buying one meant I needed to ensure it had AWD. I fall❤❤ in love with her every time I start her up and as I approche the ride in the car park. I’ve already begun building on it and have gone wit the race checkers theme for her. Before Christmas I will have added performance package to the car as well. It came with the 19” wheel/tire package so for this winter I’ve already scooped up a nice set of winter wheels and tires as the set that came with , was a summer performance set. Anyhow. Wow by the end of the year you could, maybe, possibly, have a remote chance, of being on the cusp of having 3 yes THREE Mini cars! Thats proper love lol. I'm of those that just doesn't quite get them, but I've never driven one either. Love your honesty though Pete and love your channel. Your obviously doing well, but your within the realms of relatable and your thoughts and reviews reflect this. Oh and just have to say your end/credit music sounds just like Emirates onboard music. Every time I here it, it takes me back to my honeymoon which was via Business class too. Never have the money to do it again, but glad I did!

Congratulations done Pete. You get my vote for "Ham Actor of the Year 2020." 🏆 And it's only February too... :-))... You're absolutely right about spotlights for the front of ANY Mini too. They're almost a prerequisite. And if you are getting a new Mini, make sure that you have a black roof if you're having a panoramic sunroof. Sunroofs don't show up that much with black roofs as they do with the other colours. So my choice would be a red Clubman, black wheels and with a black roof. And spotlights too :-))... Oh! By the way. The first "hot hatch" I can ever recall having 150bhp was the 1988 Vauxhall Astra GTE 16V. And that had 154bhp driving just the front wheels. Car reviewers then, said it was going to be far too powerful to handle. How times change!! However, it's been fun watching the JCW Clubman. So, so sad to see her go... :-((... PS - I forgot this. By the end of the year, new Mini's should be getting LCD screens to replace the mechanical dials :-))... So I'm led to believe!!

Took delivery of a Clubman JCW two months / 3,000 miles ago and we're also really impressed. Still don't see many around. Not kerbed the 19" alloys yet (fingers crossed..!) but the ride on uneven and poorly surfaced road is very harsh. (Hey, but who wants a soft suspension with 306ps?) On a smooth road it's great fun and love the noise from the exhaust. Fantastic build quality, great styling, plenty of oomph and a nice to have something a little different to other hot hatches.... totally agree with your comments in the video - we love it!

thanks for the review. It's great to get a sense for your passion for it. I've had more opportunity to drive my wife's Countryman more and more for a few months as she's working from home during the pandemic. It's a non-S model. Still very fun and enough of a lure to make me go into my local Mini dealer to look at the Clubman. Well, I should come as no surprise that I came away with one. Not a JCW mind you, but an All4 S model with JCW touches. Brilliant. NOW I get it. That thing you say about Minis getting under your skin.

i have had WRX-STI's , Focus ST's and S4 and never ever have i considered a mini but a year ago i test drove a 2019 JCW 30min's later i put a deposit it i still have it and i love it to bits ! its all about that Mini life

Another great video Pete. Fully get what you say about mini’s putting a smile on you’re face, we have a mini one as a family pool car and there is always a rush for the keys. You are right about the spot lights too, JCW’s should have them as standard.

I knew you'd be hooked on the Clubman lol, Minis give more smiles per miles than any other car I've driven. My 2005 R53 supercharged baby is expensive to run it's getting old, like me but I wouldn't swap it for the world, whenever I'm grumpy which is a lot, if I jump in the car within seconds I'm smiling again. It's a pocket rocket that I can drive sensibly or rag the nuts off, and it always delivers. Take care mate 👍👍👍👍👍🏁

Love my 2020 JCW Clubman. Here in the states we have something called Mini Takes The States every two years. This year it's in July. My bucket list is to do this with my son and this car!!It was a gift from him to me.This car makes me smile every day. After my cancer treatments I walk out and I STILL smile. FYI the sunroof makes a difference too. Thanks and drive safe.

I just subscribed, great videos and reviews. I traded in my 2015 paceman s for the new 2020 clubman jcw back on December 13. I am loving it so far. We live in Alberta Canada and the All4 with the mechanical locking diff is amazing in the snow and ice. My wife’s car is a 2018 countryman All4 as well. We Love mini. Looking forward to more reviews! I purchased a 2015 R60 that was in "like new" condition last June. It made me smile from the getgo. The extra 100+ horsepower of the JCW would definitely get me in trouble with the law which up to the present I have been able to avoid.

Great review sorry to see it go, purchased one in December after 5 years with a countryman JCW. It's at a different level so glad I waited 18 to 24 months for the 306hp variants to arrive. Your long term reviews made me feel I made the right decision, nearly as good as the JDM Subaru Forester Sti I had for 7 years before the Countryman. The Clubman is lot better equipped and a nicer place to be inside and goes nearly as quick! So a big thank you keep up the good work Steve

OK, here I am 3 years later, watching this video (again) and finally understanding why you liked this car as much as you did. Because... I am getting almost the exact same car for myself this week! My test drive yesterday of a used 2020 Clubman JCW with barely 17K miles on it convinced me that I have to stop moping about and start 'motoring' about. It is time for me to pull the trigger (because I finally have the $$$) and put some real joy into my driving. And when I say almost the exact same car, I mean the same model, same exact color scheme, but with the wireless charging yours didn't have, it has the panoramic moon roof, and it's the American version so it has the steering wheel on the proper side. 😆 I knew when I saw it I needed it in my life, but I wasn't quite sure why it stuck out as much as it did. But rewatching this video, and I get it. Thanks to you, @PetrolPed for planting the seed in my brain.

Started nursing school in a distant city. I couldn't commute in my 5 series BMW and had to sell it, but could not find anything economical that provided the same ride and performance. Tried the Mini Clubman which essentially is a BMW and immediately fell in love with it. Thought that upon graduation I would get the 440 BMW convertible which I've always wanted but think that I prefer the JCW Mini Clubman! I LOVE MY LIL CAR! Parking, driving, unique style, I absolutely love it! Your review sealed the deal and I can't wait to purchase! Great review. P.S. My husband dings my rims lol !!!

Great vLog... Should have one later this year... Will be keeping my 2015 JCW F56 as a mistress! This is the confirmation I wanted to see. Most dealer don't have them instock... Think apart from the demo's they are made to order as most are jumping in the Countryman from bigger SUV's

Just picked up a '2020 Clubman S myself. Not the 300 horsepower engine but it does have extras like the glass roof, wireless phone charger and the bigger LCD. Very fun car to drive.

I was asking your advice on the clubman about 6 months ago when my wife bought one, its really well spec'd, it has the opening sunroof which is nice. Ours is a Cooper D, next time we'll hopefully upgrade to the JCW. We also have an MX5 ND, its really nice knowing whatever car we choose to drive, its going to be heaps of fun! I've just picked up my JCW Clubman and totally agree with what you say about putting a smile on your face. I have the XL screen and that's a must coming from a F56 with the standard screen. What a beast of a car. The rear looks outstanding 👌

Love the LED spot lights on my Cooper S Clubman, look great (apart from sitting over the "S" badge) and they cut through the dark... so much so I have specced Lazer LED's on my VW camper conversion

I sold my R56 last year and miss it every single day so I know where you are coming from with regards to Mini ownership. I think the Culbman has got better with age and the JCW looks the ‘nuts’. Hopefully I’ll once again be a Mini owner in the next couple of years and there’s a very good chance it’ll be this model 🤞. Loved this vlog 👌

My wife has had a JCW Convertible and a JCW Coupe and I have to say I have always grabbed the keys for a drive to the shops - and I am lucky to have a SQ7. They are great fun and now she has a Q5 I am seriously thinking of getting a JCW Countryman

I am 75 yoa and have owned more cars than I can recollect, more recently and in the last two years I had an extremely fast Cooper S, I wanted to trade it for a high end Countryman JCW and was told it would be three months delivery which was eventually extended by months and on into more than a year, I purchased a nice BMW instead, however, the need for the Mini never left me and I pick up my new Countryman JCW on Monday 9th January. I also had an X5 M Competition (Ultimate Pack) which I ran for a year before trading it in for a more moderate 3ltr X5. I have driven a JCW some time ago and simply loved it and I am looking forward to Monday when I will pick up my new one.

Nice review and you're right, there's definitely something about a mini that makes you have more of an emotional affinity with a car than any other! My wife and I are looking for a new fast family car and contemplated three things: 1) Clubman Vs Countryman pros and cons i.e. trade off on boot space, but a more dynamic drive? 2) Clubman safety rating worries us both? 3) Read and heard indifferent things about the Countryman JCW.

I agree with you on the lack of phone storage. My wife's Countryman S does not have the iconic package, so it's missing adaptive cruise, wireless charging, and auto-dimming mirrors, fortunately it had the leather seat upgrade. I've opted for loading my JCW Clubman with everything, including roof rails. The rails on the Clubman are sharp...low profile and black. Now is the worst part, waiting for the car to be built. This does give me time to decide a stripe layout for her and a good name.

We opted for the New JCW Countryman version, and I can tell you agree with everything you have said! We missed out on the Sliding Pano Roof, and that is still a regret for me, although I cannot complain as its not my daily its the other halves!

It's been an enjoyable long term test with all the content you've produced. You've certainly not sold Mini short in the effective promotion of this car. The i30N goes back in a few months and this Mini will be on my test drive list for its replacement.

My wife recently got her 2020 Mini"S" convertible and for a vehicle with a 40k price point I am amazed that it doesn't have power seats.and that the tires are Nitrogen filled which do not last as long as normal tires and cost around $200 + to replace should they go bad. Yes I agree there should a dedicated spot for your cell phone with a charging pad. The Convertible does have a 2 step roof, the first step is a panorama version of a roof window and then the second step takes the top down completely. Pretty cool! great driving car, lots of fun, room for 4 but wouldn't recommend 4 adults going on a longer than a 2 hour road trip.Love the cornering headlights and the Union Jack tail lights. The heads up display is awesome as is the entire audio/navigation system. Also it is recommended to use the PLUS grade of gas which runs about $0.30-0.50 /per gallon more here in NJ. Overall its a great car and maybe they will add the features missing in future models.

I love the barn door. I am with you would also love the fog lamps. Looks cool. The Countryman can be spec’d with wireless charging in the centre arm rest.

After 2000mls in mine... i agree with most of your observations... Had a rear light cluster changed twice after both developed a stress crack (manufacturing fault) and a new infotainment system after the original became Russian Roulette.. as to wether it would turn off and not restart on any journey ... All fixed without issue and to date all seems OK now. Due to the aero dynamics of the car.. The back gets filthy even on dry roads.. after only a very few mls of driving after washing. But overall this car is quiet and comfortable for cruising around in... and astonishingly fast with everything maxed out in Sport modes... A great all rounder... I love it also... But not enough to actually give it a name.

I know just how you feel. I tried to part ex my mini (Laddie) and I couldn’t and I purchased the car 🚗 with out a part ex. So I still have him outside. I had a Mini Countryman on Motability a Cooper S fully loaded. Then PIP changed my entitlement and Cooper had to go back but, at some point I’ll have one back. I’m hooked on Minis period and all though I’ve just bought a Meriva just to get me through the next 3 years or so I will have two minis again. Laddie is very cheap to run, zero tax and only £160 on insurance it’s not worth worrying about. Laddie is a Cooper D with racing parents on him. This makes the clutch a touch hard to press for me, so I can’t driving him as much as I’d love too. So chin up Pete and to your wife and look to the future, there’s a Mini waiting for you both 💋

I’d retro fit black mesh to avoid leaf litter if it were mine. My Astra suffers same issue below windscreen and around the tailgate seal. Great video.

I always try to keep my cars as clean as possible, however I do find it interesting to see how a car gets dirty. By that I mean how the mud is thrown up onto the bodywork, how the aerodynamics affect the flow of grubby water and how the vacuums that all cars have to a degree affect how the dirty water settles on the car.

I have a Cooper S Countryman, almost three year old now! It’s good fun to drive after many years of company cars, the usual VWs and Audis. Hope your own car number plate, as seen in this clip, is a show plate, as the characters are mis-spaced!

Interesting Pete, glad you ended up liking it a lot. I love mine, it’s comfortable, refined and very fast and capable. Just a couple of thoughts on your options etc, for my last car (JCW Hatch) I specified the part leather and alcantara seats as your loan car. However, for my JCW Clubman, I went back to the full leather seats which I think are more comfortable and better. I agree with the sunroof (love mine). I have the same wheels with runflats and am happy with them. But I would highly recommend the adaptive suspension (assuming the loan car didn’t have it?). Really comfortable in mid mode, and stiffens up nicely in sports mode. Had the same on my JCW hatch but on the Clubman the ride is much more refined. Also the led matrix headlights are a must in my opinion. I’m just waiting for all this bloody rain to stop so I can enjoy the car on dry roads in the sunshine (having said that the car feels great and very planted on wet greasy roads with the 4 wheel drive). Keep the reviews coming👍

8" infotainment is very good from using my 2020 JCW Countryman for the last 5K miles :) i also have the wireless charging armrest too and love it!! however i do often forget my phone in the MINI a lot though.. :) also prefer the MINI Navi vs Carplay and mobile map apps. the traffic updates are very very good.

My R55 S left today and I shed a tear too. On the upside, the F54 JCW will be with me in a few weeks (luckily, with wireless charging, pano roof and roof rails) Excited is a big understatement.

I misheard and thought you said the boot wasn't as big as your escort so i thought it must be tiny then! ....but then I realised you were saying S4 which obviously has a cavernous boot and makes much more sense! Haha Love the car BTW. I agree that those gas struts on the rear doors are way too over-assistive; I bet the doors aren't that heavy and would be completely fine without them!

I picked up my rebel green and black JCW on Friday. In Australia apart from the basic JCW, they all have the 19s as standard. Bear in mind you lose the adaptive suspension when you go to the 19s, and it is a little louder road noise, and a little harder. MY biggest gripe is that the phone holder (which I think has wireless charging) doesn't fit any remotely large phone. Have to pick your phone based on if it fits in your car. No iPhone 11 Pros or S20 Ultras need apply!

MINI - Let him have a Countryman JCW for a while. PETE - It's got roofs rails! Hey, MINI, I know you don't need any help selling Countryman's (I can tell that by the fact that you can't get a test drive anywhere in the UK) so do us Gen 2 JCW Paceman/ Countryman owners a favour and let Petrol Ped do the testing for us......

First car was a 995cc Mini City.....32 years ago. Next car WILL BE a Clubman. Great shout on the spot-lamps and roof rails. By the end of 2020, Ruby will have a GP3 for a boyfriend, and JCW Clubman for a big brother - lucky girl.

Hi Pete Discussed my desire for one to join my roadster with mini area manager last week who said she'd get me a 48 hr test drive and 1st dibs at one of the dealer staff cars when up for sale. Hopefully have a jcw roadster and clubman by the end of the year . Great unbiased report as usual.

Looking forward to seeing how the GP3 stacks up to this one, as alas, I cancelled my order for mine as it just did not make its way into my heart enough, hopefully you can persuade me to pick one up in the after market when you get yours. I would think that picking up a low mileage one of these in a few years time will prove to be a very good value proposition.

I have only been following you for a few months and only just seen this video and now know why you bought the white one. 3 months and 6k miles is pretty good test drive:). Hate to be PEDantic ( see what I did there?) but the first mini with the barn doors was the mini traveller or mini countryman - depending on whether you had the Austin or Morris version from 60 to 69. The Clubman, that with the flat front, came along in 69. I'll be quiet now.

My girlfriend bought an enegmatic black on white leather 2022 Mini Clubman JCW late May/early June 2021. Our sad day was 6 weeks later when a kid in a Ford Focus blew through a stop sign and totaled her Clubman. It was going to be a 5 to 6 month minimum wait for another, more likely early 2022, and chances of having the same color and equipment was very likely. So she decided to move to an Audi RS3 sedan instead, as we need an extra vehicle quickly.

My mother just got the recent clubman. And I tried to convince her to get this one so hard ! but still... the cooper is great ! It has all the features but not quite the sportyness I want. I guess ill have to get one when im old enough to afford 😅😂

You're obviously as hooked on the Clubman as I am Pete. Mine does have the larger info screen, panoramic sun roof and the wireless charger in the armrest. The charger works great but anything larger than my Samsung S8 won't fit which could be an issue if you gotta have the latest phone! Doesn't bother me, to be honest. I am also in agreement with another comment re a Blazing Red (not the Chili one) Clubman with black roof coupled with the panoramic sunroof and black wheels, that describes my older Cooper version and it looked awesome!! Now all I need to do is save up for the JCW all4 version.......

If this car would have been out in May last year don’t know if I would’ve bought a Abarth Rivale...😐 know it’s to late at the moment (have a Multivan T6, the Abarth and a Skoda Karoq) so maybe sometime in the future but the first two will have to stay for the rest of my life...😎 great to see how You love this car.
