I have two of these set up… went back to get a few more and they are all sold out. Fingers crossed they get some more in…. Great little fun tanks and what you get for the price is awesome! -tip, be careful when putting light attachments, they can mess up background… either cut away space for them or use a piece of felt laid over and then pull it out.

I just learned that you can lubricate the back space where you slide the tight light clips in ... by soaping the background making it slippery. Yes, you still must push it into place and trust that it won't mess up the black background. Be brave and go for it !

Great video but has the tank been cycled or are you doing a fish-in cycle? Also, I would suggest a plant with big leaves so he can rest either on top or underneath out of the light. Maybe add a hollow ornament he can swim in. Imagine being under that bright light all day and nowhere to go to have a break.

I watched other videos first and set up my tank ( same one) and wish I found your video first. I did follow Father Fish's substrate with 1" soil and 2" sand . I like your substate as well. I was not informed about cleaning plants from the gell. I sure hope my Utricularia graminifolia grows well even though I did not rinse him...what do you think ???, should I take it out and clean it and then put it back ?? I rinsed the 2" of sand that I put over my compost soil to cap it ( keep it safe) I then placed plants in and used some of the little stone substrate provided after rinsing it well as it was very cloudy . Did you add more stuff in the filter ? Is the filter weak like mine and only barely making the top surface of the water move??, making me wonder if it is good enough ?? Nice video .

I work at PetSmart. And this is a totally suitable tank for a single betta. The only thing I’d recommend is a heater since bettas are a tropical fish. But it’s not solely limited to shrimp.

No tank cycling or fish acclimation? Declorinator? Beneficial bacteria or filter media? Video title says "shrimp" tank. Tank is named for shrimp and plants. Viewers, please do your research prior to purchasing any fish. Tip - Put the background film on right after cleaning, before scaping. Hope you think it through better than he did.

Sold me on this tank. I’m not using it for a betta but I don’t get the hate on it, I’ve moved my betta down from a flex 9 down to a 5 gallon and down to a 3 gallon betta kit petsmart sells and he is much happier there because the filtration associated with such a small tank is much gentler than the first two tanks.

I would recommend upgrading to a 5 gallon. Just because Bettas to best in 5 or higher. But at least you have live plants and no other fish in there. So if you want you can keep it in a 3, but a 5 would be nicer for the fish

@RickyL305
@RickyL305 Жыл бұрын
Cycling is yes the way to go in my view however regarding betas, there is ways around that now of days but regarding betas with their small tanks, I always used the NATURAL spring water which in itself works great but it must be natural, not purified or anything else. I am about to do some large tank cycling with winter coming on and needing to bring in my rare albino morph collection of turtles and higher end breeding guppies as seen on my channel. Winters in Florida are getting colder cold snaps it seems and we are going through one now but it's not that bad yet, just want to be ready to go.

@okramvlogs7102
@okramvlogs7102 2 жыл бұрын
Just line up where the lights are going to go and get an Exacto knife, or blade and just lightly cut the tint on each side and fold down. Don't cut the bottom so you can just fold the tint down like a flap.

@@okramvlogs7102 don't get that..you do know no beneficial bacteria lives in water...so as for tap water with a water conditioner..(like most people do) would have been better than old water from a cycled aquarium..that's why you have to do water changes and add fresh water to the aquarium...old water is not good for a new aquarium...don't add nothing positive...just saying.

@@okramvlogs7102 sounds correct, I do not have them at the moment but setting up aquariums again for my albino turtle collection and this seasons babies and outdoor breeding higher end fancy tail guppies for the cold snaps. I was shocked of this cold snaps going on now actually which is a good indicator to start getting prepared now. I may get a few smaller tanks for the more costly guppies I keep though. Thanks for your input and honesty on these, it means a lot. If I can assist with helping with your new albino slider as a professional breeder , let me know. By the way, do you know by any chance the sliders blood line? Keep in mind if you do not know, there is TWO bloodlines that if bred together, they will not produce all albinos like mine does yearly for me, knowing the bloodline is very important to know. There is a alternative thing you can do to fix that problem if you do not know from one specific breeder down south who produced the first double gene bloodline compatible with either albino. Just trying to help if you intend to breed them later on.

Things I’d highly suggest you do just to b safe next time Wait for the water to dechlorinate for 24 hours Let the plants and the water sit alone in the tank for 3-5 days before putting in the fish And finally bettas won’t last long without a tank heater so make sure to add it since that can b done easily (: I bought this tank and set it up yesterday but I haven’t bought the fish yet, waiting for the right time
@bones1026
@bones1026 2 жыл бұрын
actually not just 3-5 days lmao. you need to actually cycle the tank and test the water for nitrites, nitrates etc. this tank is also too small for a betta, shrimp are even pushing it because they need stable params
@Tsutsu5
@Tsutsu5 2 жыл бұрын
@@bones1026 could you explain to me how to test the water for nitrates n stuff like that? I have a beta and the size of the tank is no problem actually since these fish don’t need 20 gallon tanks, realistically no fish that’s smaller than 3 inches needs a big tank but I am curious on how to test and clean the water
@bones1026
@bones1026 2 жыл бұрын
@@Tsutsu5 ignoring your comment about the tank size because i disagree but to cycle a tank you need to first add a source of ammonia to feed the beneficial bacteria that will process your fishes waste. after youve done this you need to test the water periodically (maybe once a week or so) with a test kit to measure ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. liquid test kist are better than test strips as theyre more accurate. i recommend the API master test kit. your tank is cycled when nitrates are being produced and ammonia and nitrite is zero. this process will take up to a couple months. the reason you need to cycle a tank is so that the bacteria can already be built up to be able to break down the fishes waste and keep the ammonia and nitrites at a safe level for the fish. after that, to keep the water clean all you need to do is change the water every 1-2 weeks depending on the size and stock. you can also keep testing the water once in a while just for good measure. this is a very simple explanation of the nitrogen cycle and there are some great videos on it if you want to check those out.
@MasterBlakeYT
@MasterBlakeYT 2 жыл бұрын
I would recommend cycling for 2-3 weeks, just to make sure it’s fully cycled. And that is also enough time to let plants root themselves down and get used to their environment! As I have this same tank, and I planted it and everything, and I on currently on week 2 of cycling, I am planning to get the shrimp in a few days as I am pretty busy tomorrow and the day after that
