Peugeot 107k has cheeky looks and a great engine. Running costs are low and quality is solid.
The 107 suffers from a stiff ride and poor refinement out of town. The boot is also tiny and access isn't great.

All you negative people can jog on. I have gone from putting 60 quid worth of fuel a week in a 2 litre Vauxhall, to just 17 quids worth in the 107. That'll do for me.

@@Yesnomaybeidontknowcan I think the road fund licence (car tax) was free on the 107. As it is 99g of co2. I traded in for a 108 then to an aygo and these are free to tax too. But after 2017 tax on petrol cars is minimum £150 so I will keep my 2016 aygo for as long as possible.

I've passed my driving test this week and I now drive 2008 Peugeot 107. It won't gain points for space and speed but it's a great little car especially for someone is new to driving and alone. I love how many compartments there are for storage although I do wish the glove compartment had a door instead of being open but what can you expect for a cheap car. To fill it up fully it cost me 30 quid and its previous owner said that that's all they spent a month in filling it up. It's very cheap to insure, I only pay £650 for the year and this is without a black box and for a 20 year old new driver. Road tax is only £20. This car is great for a new driver. *edit 13/7/21 I've been driving 107 for 10 months now. Still a very reliable car and had no issues. The glovebox without a door issue was fixed by purchasing a glovebox door on eBay for £25. I still spend about £35 per month to fill up the car and goes to about 400 miles before needing filling up. Can't believe in 2 months I would be driving a year and my car will need an MOT.

Legendary cars (along with the Toyota Aygo and Citroen C1 of course.) Running costs are as cheap as it gets, great MPG, no or very low road tax, they're great fun to drive, they're perfect for the city and cope with motorways no problem at all, people don't feel threatened by you so boy racers and plod leave you alone and they sound great. What's not to like?

In this day of futuristic gadgets, touchscreen everything and over-complicated set-up options, there's something very appealing about back to basics motoring. People are forgetting what cars are for. I use mine to get me from point A to point B. Why do I need wireless connectivity, multi-function steering wheels, Al-bot enablement and blind spot warning systems? Give me a radio, heater and key and I'm away.

i recently bought this car a month ago i do like however it takes time to get used to i feel. i have the 2012 5 door 1 litre 107 and it doesn't have a rev counter which for me is annoying as my old car a vauxhall corsa had a rev counter so i could gauge when i should change speed etc. it's sluggish at times but it's fantastic on petrol, especially when driving around towns in the lower gears. i'd recommend this car but i don't think this is a long term car. i think it's a good car for a 2/3 years but afterwards i'd look to upgrade

Try a old 2cv for road noise and lack of gadgets lol no windows that open much. No electric wipers no fuel gauge unless you use that stick the lists goes on but 2cv has a huge fan base . I like them. But I would remove the tachometer. It will be a constant reminder that I should run nicely to save money, the tachometer will tell me that I must not run to have fun. Had the tachometer been in a GTI would have been a completely different picture. The tachometer would say faster, be sharp with shifting, try to run faster through the turn.

That sort of thing has been happening for decades; companies re-badging other companies vehicles, sharing chassis and all sorts. For example: my other car is an Alfa GTV. It shares the same chassis a Fiat Tipo, Fiat Coupe, Alfa 155 and several other cars! Also: Look up "Mazda 121" and "Ford Fiesta Mk.4" ;)

60 MPG?! By the time I was finished with this little sluggish thing I'd be getting 50 mpg tops cos I'd be working it as hard as you could! Sounds like you've gotta rev the guts out of it to get up to a decent speed. I know I was in 1 recently and the driver was in 3rd gear whereas I'd be in 5th easily in my 1.9 TDI
@oddities-whatnot
@oddities-whatnot 8 жыл бұрын
Obviously a big difference between a 1 litre petrol and a 1.9 TDI. You cannot compare them. You also obviously miss the point of this car judging by your uneducated comment. Its a city car, it keeps up with traffic, appeals to customers who dont need to be going at 100 mph to the next sales meeting!
@karlpilkington3669
@karlpilkington3669 8 жыл бұрын
I get the point of this car - it's a city car which is good on fuel consumption but not big on power. If I want to compare them then I will. If this kind of car suits you then that's fine I'm just saying the driving style required to get the most efficiency out of this car certainly wouldn't suit me living out in the country not doing city driving and having to work the engine to get decent speed.

I can say a thing or two about that. Presently I have a total of six cars! Among them parked side by side, is a Peugeot 106 (1996) with almost 300K and a Peugeot 107 (2010) 125k km. Aside the obvious fact the 107 is a much younger project and in the case of mine. Has central locking with remote control, power windows, AC, rev counter, bumper chrome accent, color coded rear view mirror... My 106 as none of those frills! Not even central locking! A pure "meat and potatoes" car. LOL 😂 The reality is that the 106 is a better build car! Low cost, but with rather decent quality. The 107 and I'll say also the Toyota Aygo and the Citroen C1, by comparison are "cheap" cars! Standing side by side it's a bit shocking. Just a couple of weeks ago I took the metal build rear wiper arm and blade from the 106 to replace the broken plastic counterpart of the 107... A small example! ;-) I pop the hood on the 106 and two, perfectly functioning, gas struts hold it in place, in almost vertical position! I do the same on the 107 and have to place the rod to hold it in place! Seats, 106 really comfy, independent, removable and adjustable head rests! 107 not very comfortable, fixed non adjustable head rests! And so on... Upgrade? More like a more modern downgrade. ;-)

Curiously I do have a 2010 Peugeot 107, in Norway! Which is a way of saying the ideal place to rust a car. Well! The reality is that it's not rusting all over the place! In fact has a lot less rust then I would taught possible for a cheap car! All in all, quite happy with the "thing". About being tiny... I guess that's the main premise when you design a SMALL car! LOL 😂 Although it's undeniable that the front occupants have more space, numbers don't lie, than many well positioned family saloons! Which might come as a surprise to some. ;-)
