Peugeot 207 ruined by water ingress in the fusebox coming from a leak in the washer fluid pump and travelling upwards through the wire. The problem appears when a small pin inside gets corroded and is getting snapped.

Thanks for this video. The clowns at my local garage told me it was the ecu unit despite me telling them of this video. Took it to another garage who diagnosed the problem as the abs module. A common fault on the 207.

had same thing happen to me, and i was told the same about the water from the washer bottle. water also leaked through fuse box down into computer unit below. Peugeot wanted £3000 to change wiring harness and computer / braking unit and fuse box. A local auto electrician changed fuse box, a new computer unit, and put a new wiring harness plug on end for a lot less. Turns out it's water dripping down from the bulk head, onto cable that enters fuse box, and finding its way in. ( but that would be a manufacturer fault ) Mine is now wrapped in a thick plastic and tie wrapped off. £2 cure.

Luckily for me it was only the fuse box that got affected. Managed to find a new OE one for £65 and changed it myself. I also took out the washer fluid pump out, disassembled, dried and put it back with a drop of superglue where the pins come out through the casing to try and hold the water in the pump. Really stupid engineering from Peugeot.

Hi all, I have a Peugeot 207 HDi 1.6 Turbo Diesel, mine seems to have a similar problem to you all, water infiltration into the electric system with heavy rain and high humidity/fogging of windows, the electrical system goes mad. Mine has a sound like the blinkers going on and off but the power steering, power windows, alternator, cruise control, aircon, all stop working normally until the car dries out. I hear something clicking on and off madly inside the glove box (my car is right-hand drive) but I still haven't been able to locate the part. So, in my case it's usually with wet weather, so obviously it seems like water in the electrical system problem. I had thought it might be a loose ground wire somewhere where all these components work as well. Take yours to a good auto electrician and mention the comments here. It's not ABS or individual component problems for the most part from what I have followed up on other forums. For the most part, the car is very reliable. Mine already has 342000 km, does not consume oil, goes well, averages 880kms in city driving on a full tank, 1100 highway, the electricals are the problem, not mechanicals. Rear window regulators, the cables have popped out and need replacing, driver power windows command has broken a support and plastic is starting to get dull, driver door padding starting to scuff. Otherwise no complaints.

Thanks for the video. I need a new fusebox then too. I was shocked at the price £60-ish for a fuse box. F hell.

Was it a simple change of the fuse box any issues
@peugeotfan86343 жыл бұрын
My P207 has some issue like this but only when he stays out of garage in high temperature - then he gets a lot of errors - after killing them by app Torque the problem dissapers to next time. Do you think its the same issue with some pin-s?

I can relate to that cause, am currently having the same issues only when parking in the sun.

I’ve had the same problem so I have just ordered a new fuse box would this be a simple removal and install without having to reprogram ECU? Thanks
@motanex3 жыл бұрын
From what I remember yes. I just swapped the fusebox without any issues. I would suggest having a look at the washer fluid pump and replacing it if you find moisture in the plug. That's were the water in the fusebox plug comes from.
@paintball4803 жыл бұрын
@@motanex did you change the plug or just clean it and reuse it ?
@motanex3 жыл бұрын
@@paintball480 I left the plugs and wirings as they were(just used contact spray when I put the new parts in). I changed the washer pump because it had an internal leak around the motor shaft which was pushing washer fluid up and around the pins of the pump.

hello the same problem happened to me, wonder if the problem is taking water? or if it's a chronic problem, you can tell me I want to take action.

In my case there was water coming through the wire from the windscreen washer pump in the fuse box.

@@motanex Hi thanks for the vid. Just replaced my fuse box and was a lot of water in the old one. Don't want the same to happen but struggling to find how to get to the washer pump. Any clues? Perhaps another vid :) Thinking about slicing some of the wires from the loom and putting a bit if super glue to block any further ingress. Though not convinced myself if that is a good idea yet

@@Jedger Hi. I have sold my car more than a year ago and I won't touch another Peugeot so unfortunately can't make another video. The washer pump is located in the right front corner of the car, so if you take the front wheel and the liner off you can easily access the washer bottle and pump. Best bet is to also buy a new washer pump. They were quite cheap on Ebay. Thanks

i'm getting the exact problem! windscreen wipers and headlights comes on randomly while driving, pulled over stopped the car and stop braking system faulty come on the dash? checked the fuse box and nothing there bone dry and no corrosion ? i wonder if you fixed yours and what was it? Thanks in advance.

i've got this issue at the moment i'm reluctant to take the connector off incase i snap any more pins, it only came about after changing the front disk brakes oddly enough :/
@motanex6 жыл бұрын
Bobby Cable if you have the error it might mean that the pin is already snapped. At least you can check if it's the plug from the fuse box or the one on the ECU(another known problem)
@BFCEightyNine6 жыл бұрын
i've just checked the ECU plug and it looks brand new so luckily it's not that, i don't get an ABS lite come on i only get "brake system fault" and the "STOP" light on the dash is lit up, someone said to me it could be my ABS module and said it's a common fault when you change the disks and pads for it to come on but as i didn't see any cables or sensors when changing the front disks and pads i highly doubted it could be that... where is the connector to the ECU situated? do you have any idea? Thanks
@motanex6 жыл бұрын
Bobby Cable The ECU is next to the battery in the box that covers the battery. When you changed the brakes did you damaged the ABS sensor? Maybe have a look at the brake fluid level to see if everything is alright there.
@BFCEightyNine6 жыл бұрын
ABS Sensor? I bet we've knocked it! i'll take a look the first chance i get, can't remember seeing any sensors when we took the disks off Brake fluid level is fine, someone said the connector on the ABS Module could be corroded too, do you think that could be the case?
@motanex6 жыл бұрын
Bobby Cable Regarding the ABS module, I can't say because fortunately I didn't encountered that problem. If you say the problem appeared after you changed the brakes I will start by checking again that everything is alright at the wheels. The ABS sensor is that black wire that goes into the knuckle. Maybe the plug got disconnected or knocked and it's making a good contact.

I've got abs /steering wheel / engine lights on but all of my plug connectors including the brown one have no corrosion. Now i dont know what else could be the cause of all of the lights? Is it any of the individual fuses which need replacing?
@motanex6 жыл бұрын
Rila Mountain Have a look at the connector plugs that go in the ECU( should be in the same box with the battery on the side). There were cases when those got water ingress from coolant temp sensor
