I have always wondered if there is any muffler or something, or is it just straght pipe from factory? Also this peugeot makes one of the loudest exhaust pops when upshifting at full throttle, why it does that? I am very curious thx for anwsering.

Hello :) yes, according to the homologation, the car must have a muffler and a catalytic converter. Shifting noise is caused by the electronics disconnecting the engine for only a short time at full throttle.

@@orian_petr thx very much for anwsering. I will never stop getting fascinated by engineering behind racing cars, such a interesting topic for me. I even found thesis on topic of assembling a Peugeot r2 rallyecar. On the muffler, I am assuming that it is very finely muffled then, because it is still very loud car. How did you get to drive one? Are you a rally driver? Might be a bit silly to ask but i am intrested😁.

According to FIA Regulations, all cars from R1 to R5 are obliged to use mufflers and catalytic converters. WRC cars only use a catalytic converter. The muffler contains perforated steel tube with fiberglass. It has a specific tune for antilag to occur as well as the gearbox disengages the engine in each shift.

@@DraJ_35I'm not sure how he got one but you can buy them for $35-40k. If you want to get into rally this is a relatively cheap car that has pretty much everything you'd want right out of the factory (except AWD)

@@orian_petr Thank you Petr, so this button change the ECU parameters. So the car can be drove in good way on the road without problems ( like a " normal " car ) and in the special stage can be drove " like" a race car.

Is it road legal? And if so did any police officer pulled you over for too much noise?

Yes, it is :) it has a special registration plates for racing cars. The noise of this car is measured every year by technicians at a technical inspection station (STK/MOT)...
