Peugeot headed upmarket with the 308 to rival class leaders like the Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra. The interior is very classy and the car is smooth and comfortable, with strong diesel engines. The driving position could be better, as could front legroom and visibility, plus the manual box can be difficult to find gears in. While recent styling revisions, including a revised grille, eye-catching headlamps and LED daytime running lights, give a sporty look, the car's still dated next to rivals. It's good to drive with fine safety.

I owned a 308 1.6 92 Hdi from 2012 to 2019 and drove 200.000 km. The car was very reliable economical and cheap to run. Only changed the breaks once at 107.000 km except for the rear discs. They had to be replaced at 180.000 km due to a rust edge that would not pass inspection. In the period I replaced two summer tires and a set of 4 winter tires. Only issues in the period was replacing the front windshield, a stone that rubbed through the condenser and a rear ABS sensor, all quite cheap to fix.

@@mangh815 Yes, from the WIP-Sound standard and therefore this optional (depending on finish) WIP-Nav, as well as the maximum available system WIP-Com 3D. As standard it includes control behind the steering wheel HFP and media (AudioStreaming, Radio RDS, CD, Aux-in, RCA, USB) from the redesign this generation, 308 (T7F).

*170,000 miles and never broke down, always starts 1st time even in -10c. Nothings fallen off or started to rattle and it's still on the original clutch and turbo. Great fun in the feisty stuff too and still manages to turn heads even at 15 years old. Love my Peugeot 306 to bits!

The new 308 comes in October...still this current 308 is holding it's lines, the GT spec is the one I prefer best because of the stiffer roll-bars but keeping the suspension enough soft for ok comfort.

The engine in the car she was driving was a 1.6 HDi engine right? And doing research into that engine it was a joint venture engine between PSA and Ford, the range is called Ford DLD engine. So, I suppose she would have to say the exact same about Ford, Volvo, BMW (MINI), Mazda, Suzuki, and of course Citroen. Volvo and BMW being one of the most highly renowned car brands in the world for reliability. Here's the list of cars the exact engine out of this car in the video: 2007-2008 Suzuki SX4 1.6 DDiS, 90 PS (89 hp/66 kW) and 159 lb·ft (215 N·m) 2007-2009 MINI Cooper D 1.6 110 PS (108 hp/80 kW) and 177 lb·ft (240 N·m) 2007-present Citroën C4 Picasso 1.6 HDi, 110 PS (108 hp/80 kW) and 177 lb·ft (240 N·m) 2010-present Citroën C3 Picasso 1.6 HDi, 110 PS (108 hp/80 kW) and 177 lb·ft (240 N·m) 2006-present Citroën Berlingo 1.6 HDi, 75-90 PS (74-89 hp/55-66 kW) and 127-159 lb·ft (172-215 N·m) 2005-present Citroën C3 1.6 HDi, 90 PS (89 hp/66 kW) and 159 lb·ft (215 N·m) 2009-present Citroën DS3 1.6 HDi, 90 PS (89 hp/66 kW) and 170 lb·ft (230 N·m) 2009-present Citroën DS3 1.6 HDi, 110 PS (109 hp/80 kW) and 198 lb·ft (269 N·m) 2011-present Citroën DS4 1.6 HDi, 110 PS (109 hp/80 kW) and 198 lb·ft (269 N·m) 2004-present Citroën C4 1.6 HDi, 90-109 PS (89-108 hp/66-80 kW) and 159-177 lb·ft (215-240 N·m) 2004-present Citroën C5 1.6 HDi, 109 PS (108 hp/80 kW) and 177 lb·ft (240 N·m) 2004-2009 Citroën Xsara Picasso 1.6 HDi, 109 PS (108 hp/80 kW) and 177 lb·ft (240 N·m) 2010-present Ford C-MAX/Grand C-MAX 1.6 TDCi, 115 PS (117 hp/85 kW) and 199 lb·ft (270 N·m) 2005-2010 Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCi, 90 PS (88 hp/65 kW) and 148 lb·ft (200 N·m) 2010-present Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCi, 95 PS (94 hp/70 kW) and 156 lb·ft (212 N·m) 2005-2012 Ford Fusion (European) 1.6 TDCi, 90 PS (89 hp/66 kW) and 159 lb·ft (215 N·m) 2004-present Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi 90, 90 PS (89 hp/66 kW) and 159 lb·ft (215 N·m) 2004-present Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi 110, 109 PS (108 hp/80 kW) and 177 lb·ft (240 N·m) 2004-2010 Ford Focus C-MAX 1.6 TDCi 90, 90 PS (89 hp/66 kW) and 159 lb·ft (215 N·m) 2003-2010 Ford Focus C-MAX 1.6 TDCi 110, 109 PS (108 hp/80 kW) and 177 lb·ft (240 N·m) 2003-2006 Peugeot 206 1.6 HDi, 109 PS (108 hp/80 kW) and 177 lb·ft (240 N·m) 2006-2012 Peugeot 207 1.6 HDi, 90-109 PS (89-108 hp/66-80 kW) and 159-177 lb·ft (215-240 N·m) 2005-2008 Peugeot 307 1.6 HDi, 90-109 PS (89-108 hp/66-80 kW) and 159-177 lb·ft (215-240 N·m) 2008-present Peugeot 3081.6 HDi 2003-2010 Peugeot 407 1.6 HDi, 109 PS (108 hp/80 kW) and 177 lb·ft (240 N·m) 2010-present Peugeot 508 1.6 HDi, 112 PS (110 hp/80 kW) and 177 lb·ft (240 N·m) 2008-present Mazda2 MZ-CD 1.6, 90 PS (66 kW) and 212 N·m (156 lb·ft) 2003-present Mazda3 MZ-CD 1.6, 109 PS (108 hp/80 kW) and 177 lb·ft (240 N·m) 2007-2012 Volvo C30 D2 and DRIVe, 115 PS (85 kW; 113 hp) and 199 lb·ft (270 N·m) 2004-2012 Volvo S40 1.6D, 109 PS (108 hp/80 kW) and 177 lb·ft (240 N·m) 2004-2012 Volvo V50 1.6D, 109 PS (108 hp/80 kW) and 177 lb·ft (240 N·m) 2010-present Volvo S60/V60 1.6D, 115 PS (114 hp/81 kW) and 177 lb·ft (240 N·m) 2007-present Volvo V70 1.6D, 115 PS (114 hp/81 kW) and 177 lb·ft (240 N·m) 2009-present Volvo S80 1.6D DRIVe, 109 PS (107 bhp; 80 kW) and 177 lb·ft (240 N·m) Here are all the cars that you should avoid according to the woman on this video, because according to her the reliability will be abysmal. The 408 doesen`t sell in Europe (it sells I think in Russia, China and other continents) so I wouldn`t know. But from what you told I guess that it handels like this 308 in the video - a compromise between comfort and sportines. If you want absolutelly no compromises in both departments try Xantia Activa - a technological marvel & cornering machine of it`s time. It`s beaten the crap out of BMW 3 Series and Audi A4 in comparison test. Nuff said. Want to know more google it! :)

No I am not talking about 80mph; it was dangerous on winter roads, a 360° spinout happened a couple of times, yes the 6S manual was very crude clunky in operation and the car was too low geared in first. Problems with it too, a new clutch at 90000K, water pump and front suspension struts had to be both done at around 95000K, the paint never was never glossy either, and the interior was very old fashioned It as an IS200; the body panel fit and quality otherwise was good and the engine smooth.

You do know that body proportions are very similar for all people no matter what their size... Meaning that yes, they have shorter arms (than you I guess?), but they also have shorter legs... :) This years ADAC was a surprise! The Peugeot 308 was suddenly bad but fortunately they explained the cause on one site. The cars sold in Germany has had very bad batteries and thats why the cars look "bad" in the ADAC list. Batteries aside they again claim the Peugeot 308 to be a very reliable car. I have still have my doubts about the BMW THP petrol-turbo used also in the 308...

I own this car and what surprises me most is the fact that for this review they didn't use a 308 with the front xenon lights. They just make the car look totally different, more sporty and special. Not to mention the utility. Beside that I wouldn't agree with the problem of reaching the stereo since you can have all the controls from your steering wheel. Strange they didn't mention anything about the glass roof, the additional JBL sound sistem, and those fancy xenons (i just can't forgive them).

I have the 1600 petrol version. Stylish interior and comfortable seating. Apart from that, I have had to repair every moving and non-moving part: remote key, air con, sun visor, rocker head seal, head gasket seal, water pump, oil pump, noisy and chronically underpowered engine. Worst car I've ever owned. I suppose if you drive 30 miles a week the car will probably hold up ok, but more than that and it starts falling about.

Good review as always. But i don´t like this 308 much I must admit - but i´m not the target group anyway. But it looks quite heavy and a bit dull due to it´s rounded backend and the large front overhangs and main lights. For me it just ads up to be rather boring looking all together - no sporty hints, no design lines that really express some quality. Details look good and for a family hatch it´s properly very viable, but then the rear space is not optimal.

So basically the same problem as TSI.... it's similar engine though, not much of a suprise really. I'm not fan of small turbo engines anyway, wouldn't have one in my car.

Would someone recommend me this exact Peugeot model compare to a 2010-2011 Seat Ibiza or Leon with 1.4L taking care reliability? Is gonna be for a first car with short rides

Yea i also think that German cars are more reliable then French, but French cars are cheaper and also cheaper to maintain then German cars, but both of this nations cant compare with Japanese car reliability.

I dont't get it with the reliability, my car has 170000 km and had no real problem and i live in east europe where roads are shit i change the front brake discs and clutch at 160000 km, parts are dirt cheap i payd 150 euros for the clutch,50 euro the discs and 70 euro service work, fuel consumption is a dream (1.6 HDI,92hp),from my point of view is a very good car.

Same with me it's a really poor thing for a review ever to say Peugeot come miles ahead of volkswagen and other German brands in the relibility charts I have first hand expericence of vw reliability and I can say it's really quite poor. I loved my old 308 it have over 200,000 miles and was perfect. I have the new model now and it's also a great car! I will never buy another car now Peugeot are really brilliant!

Why would you buy this over a Golf 7? Not to mention, Peugeot's don't hold their value, especially when it comes to trade ins.

I think Peugeot could have done much better than this. The Korean rivals are much better value and an Astra looks miles better.

Oh yes, bringing the engine's capability to an edge and then again, everything is so tiny & fragile so it's not very efficient in terms of long term reliability (for example, I doubt such engines can go on up to 400k km without having major repairs done).

I have this car 13 plate 1.6 hdi EGC Disel and it looks so good at Night and it picks up speed faster than other cars in its class. Also, thats a lie that there isn't much space at the back how can she even say that when I'm 6foot and I have loads of knee and head room . Just want to say its a fantastic car.
