Hope you catch a flattie to give it a go. When I was learning how to do it, I practised on keepers in case I messed up! I find it easier to do with a short shank hook. Once you get the hang of it, it’s very reliable for a clean unhook. Good luck!

It was just a bit windy! A bit of focus needed to get the lead going in the right direction on the cast as the wind was taking it way way to the left. Certainly dusted any cobwebs away!

I’m good thanks Carl. I do love catching flatties. I had some huge dabs out in Norway last autumn, I can’t wait to get back over there or have another bash. Haddock are for sure unusual, I’ve not caught one in UK waters myself. Tight lines!

Definitely. One of my favourite times of year for fishing, when the plaice come back even if they are skinny.

Thanks Dean! I tend to match my snoods to my target. With whiting about I do go a bit heavier because of their teeth. Also with the water that colour there is little need for finesse which would come from a lighter snood.

Go for it! I use bluey oil, or any other fish-based or worm-based oil. I don’t add much salt, just a sprinkling. Then clingfilm wrap and vac pack. They will last years in the freezer like that.

Hi William, I completely agree that the performance is underrated. It’s an awesome rod, I think probably my favourite to fish with. It casts wonderfully, with 150g in particular, with a fast recovery in the tip. And the bite detection is great too.

Oh no! Lots of people want to enjoy the sea in different ways - would just be more relaxing if those windsurfers avoided beaches with people fishing from them.

Totally - I also think I should’ve taken some razor fish with me. There are big razor beds on that beach and there were quite a few shells washed up on the beach. A sure sign I should’ve had a few with me to try out.

Hi gem went out with my son today you said let me no how you got on.Well weather was good a bit windy bait was lug and razor clam not a bite on the clams we had five schoolies between us all fell to the lug bait fish not interested in the clams not surprised cause we only fished the thames at tilbury but a good day nether the less ill be back out tomorrow for another go.
