Watching this makes me think she doesn’t have a parenting issue: she has a self confidence and self worth issue. She wants the best for her son, but wants nothing for herself- almost like she the inks she isn’t worthy of the bigger room or more clothes. And that kid ate up all that confidence and is now an asshole that manipulates her and probably verbally belittles her. She created a monster out of her own self hatred. He is the outer voice confirming what her inner voices say.

I never had an allowance as a kid, my mom always said that we helped around the house because it was to prepare us for when we’re older and because we live in the house, so we have to contribute. I can’t imagine doing nothing and getting that much money, still demanding more 😂 I would like to follow an update and say I love in a college dorm and the amount of COLLEGE STUDENTS that don’t flush the toilets, wash their hands, keep the shared areas (bathrooms, kitchen, laundry room, hallways) clean is insane. I mean there’s so much trash in some of the hallways.

@@ailbhe2345 growing up my parents would give me money when i would go out shopping with my friends. like if i made plans with a friend to go to the mall i would be handed 15 bucks and maybe 20 from my dad since he always spoiled us. even with that we would usually have to do a chore before we were allowed out. like i would ask my mom to go out with my friend and she would say wash the cars and clean the cars floor mats then you can go. but they also let us keep the change after we hung out with friends. so basically anything we didn’t spend immediately we were allowed to keep and save. and as soon as we were old enough to get a job we were expected to make our own money.

It's legal in the US to work agricultural summer jobs from the age of 13, so that's what I did for years, I earned like $1,000 a year and made it last! I was well taken care of, but even a regular allowance over $20 would have been unthinkable for my parents. When I did get an allowance, it was dependent on doing extra chores.

As someone who’s disabled and can’t work, at 8:48 Pewds is totally right, having worked in the past and now not being able to I feel awful that I have to rely on family to live. It takes at least 3 attempts to be approved for disability, and the medical condition I have is such that I don’t look disabled so therefore “you can work”, I was a 911 dispatcher and they wanted me to work 48-60hr weeks and I couldn’t. We actually get paid directly, specifically for our education, in Sweden. @@janne7263 I'm talking about the 1250 crowns that we start getting in high school. It's literally called a study benefit and we receive it for going to high school. We get it from CSN. It's different from the barnbidrag, but it's functionally similar. The difference is that it is paid directly to the child if they choose it so and the fact that it is a studiebidrag for gymnasiet. "Från och med kvartalet efter att du har fyllt 16 år övergår barnbidraget i studiebidrag om du studerar på gymnasiet." - from CSN If you dont go to high school, you dont get the study benefit. In a lot of ways, an allowance helps a kid learn the value of money. I had $2 per week as a kid. If I wanted more, I had to work. At one point, as a teenager, I wanted a new computer so I could play games. I worked up (I earned half my age per week at this point), all the way to $1000 just so I could buy it. To hear that this kid gets that amount a month is insane. It took me my entire summer break working nearly non-stop to earn what to him is pocket change. When that's the way you see money, nothing has value to you anymore. When nothing has value to you anymore, you become a self indulgent narcissist, because in your mind you are worth more than everything else, because you can afford everything else. That's the power of respecting money. You earn it, you spend it wiser.

There has become this culture of labels and flexing that I am sure probably does build up his esteem because other students think he's from a rich family. Although that probably is assumed solely based on the fact, that most kids do not get a wardrobe like that. Even kids who are well off don't have parents who waste money on shoes and clothes on a teenager. The kids who actually would get clothes to flex and treat like that don't usually go to public schools. So he's probably seen as unique. They don't like him, for him though. They like him because they think about how they wish they were rich and it gave them a dopamine hit. That's kinda way we as a culture think way more fondly of rich people than we should. I am so shocked he wrote in to Dr Phil thinking this would go well. He's probably going to lose some of the people who think he's cool. Hes now looking like an inauthentic faker.

getting shamed is exactly what this kid needs. he thinks he's on the top of the world, and that he's some kinda king, when he's not. and it's great to see him get his ass put in place

If I had a child that behaved like this, I'd be straightening them out on the spot, let no child live like that and have whatever they want while disrespecting me. I'd be teaching them respect, and how to be responsible with their money and not wasting on frivolous materialistic things that they will probably never need, teach them that saving their money for something in the long term is better than spending in the moment.

I love how confused Ken was by the concept of getting money from the government for your children
@patriks5413
@patriks5413 2 жыл бұрын
In Finland the government also pays money if you have a kid but it's meant for the parents so that they can afford food and clothes for their children and I'm guessing that it's the same in Sweden but Felix's parents just gave him the money.

I can tell how loving Felix is by the way he treats his wife and his adorable pugs Maya & Edgar. I can tell that if one day he and Marzia had a child he would be a loving Father no matter how often he jokes about feeding his children dog food.
