What keeps Marino in the conversation of great quarterbacks, even though he never won a championship, is that he was the quarterback all the other great quarterbacks wanted to be. Just solely by the eye test, he was the greatest quarterback anybody’d ever seen.

Despite the accolades, we've reached a point where Marino is now the most underrated QB in NFL history. He was doing things that modern QBs do, only decades before the league became a passing league. He is as good as any QB who ever played the game.
@silverjaiden2450
@silverjaiden2450 8 ай бұрын
idk. He's the only QB that is consistently in the top 5 or top 10 with no ring. I feel like He's appropriately respected. He might be a little OVERrated, not because he wasnt' good, but because of the years outside of his 4 or 5 peak years, he's kinda mid even for his time. look at his actual career stats

I don't really think he's underrated I think getting "the ring" is very overrated when we talk about individual players so others get elevated above him. Football is a team game, Brady doesn't win 6 rings without the stellar defense or the stars he had on offense.

Think the two best QB's from the class of '83, were Dan Marino &John Elway, both had strong Arms, and were pretty accurate. The fact that I think they only played against each other once in a Monday Night Game. Was kinda sad, imagine if they'd faced off against each other in an AFC championship game, or even every other regular season. Might have been lots of scoring

I remember going to a Buffet that has this awesome Chef. He put his heart and soul into his routine. He made desserts like Bananas Foster and presented it like it was a formal performance. It made for a great experience. One day he was released. When we came back, the dessert wasn’t presented at all…just scooped and plopped onto your plate. The replacement just did his job (which is fine). But realizing that there is SOMETHING special about people who take pride in their jobs. That’s when you realize you lost something. You always hope the next person in has that same trait. The Mannings definitely had that. We never knew why the guy left. Was he underpaid, did something happen personally? We don’t know. But it definitely taught a lesson. Appreciate those types of people while you have them in the league because when they are gone…you’ll miss them. Think about wrestling and how long it took the WWE to recover from losing guys like the Rock and Stone Cold. The Mannings vs Brady made for _THAT_ type of rivalry. And Hearing those “Omahas” or watching a presnap configuration go down to the 1 second mark…or watching a drive masterfully using the clock while moving the chains in the biggest of games…or seeing records broken…undefeated Goliaths defeated by Giants…or walking off into the sunset as a champs…it’s something I’ll miss. Watching Maholmes and Joe Burrow does give me a nostalgia. That’s how you keep the game alive.

Archie Manning was my neighbor in 1979 in Oxford, MS. There has "never" been a celebrity more grounded, humble, or approachable than Archie. To say he is a legend in Oxford is the premier understatement. NOW ... Peyton on the other hand abandoned Oxford. His story is that he was only a 1 year old and was forced to move with his family to New Orleans. I'm calling BS. At age "1" he was just getting interesting. He had reached a milestone of being able to walk 20 feet without pooping his Huggies, and could drive the family truck while standing on Archie's legs. It's time Peyton stepped up to his abandonment and claim Oxford, MS as his true City of Birth.
