He keeps talking about it being worldwide or global sport yet is entrenched in an American centric PGA tour…..hence why he says it will take time especially when he has just signed a deal with a gaggle of American sports companies….I can understand why Keith Pelley left. This will blow up in the faces of the PGA tour. PIF will back the European tour and Asian tour if they have any sense and creat a true global tour…

I think for that reason the pga tour will try to keep the euros tour under their wing. The DP tour Boys may want to let these two sides bid for them asap. But they kind of sold themselves to the pga tour already and could be hard to get out.

Monahan dodged the calls to resign question. I can conclude that is a yes. Players do not trust him justifyably so. While yes Golf is a global sport, which only improves the game, I do not think the PGA TOUR is interested in taking the PGA Tour outside of North America. So far they have had a Tournament in Mexico. The Canadian Open is co-organized by the PGA Tour and Golf Canada. The more stakeholders involved, the more complicated the negotiations, which means all the stakeholders want their piece of the pie. If the PGA Tour and all golf organizations truly cared about golf fans, which they don't, all players that are eligible to play Tournaments would be allowed to play the same Tournaments, which is why LIV Golf has clout and became relevant. If you as a PGA Tour player didnt want to take the money, then they should have no problem competing against LIV Golf players.

You do realize the PGA just sold out to SSG PIF. SSG PIF now controls the PGA Tour and not the players advisory board.

@@oahujuniorgolfassociationc6656 You need to do some research and understand exactly what a PIF is. It's not limited to the Saudi's, in fact most countries in the world have a PIF as well as huge corporations. The PGA 100% took money from SSG's PIF and they now control the purse strings.

What does DPworld get with the deal that has already been struck? Any chance SSG could dump dpworld tour, since it s losing money? LIV could become the major investor in it! Monahan, is just a waste of time...just waiting for him to screw it up again. His arrogance is way up there...

Good vid. You know how I feel. He wasted an hour of my life this morning but luckily I got a ton of sick waves after so I’m feeling like I got some of that time back. So I got that going for me which is nice. Feeling blessed and thankful. Praying for the pga tour to grow some wisdom. I just don’t think it’s going to grow in this man. Monahan like chamblee still does not get that No matter what they do, if they don’t have the LIv players back for at least 5-8 events the Tour will continue to be a shell of itself. And the situation is only going to get worse as more players leave regardless of ssg. So I just don’t get what we’re negotiating here anymore. It’s almost silly at this point.

Oh please!. LIV comprises for the most part a bunch of has been golfers. Also it is all money and no substance. The PGA tour still holds events that have values and a moral compass. Take the recent Arnold Palmer golf tournament and what Palmer brought to the game which flows through to all the current tour players. Just look at the marquee names for that event.

Monahan is over his head - almost as bad as listening to brandel chamblee try to explain how biz'nus works - putting your faith in SSG is weird, they went to Saudia Arabia for what, to take selfies for their instagram? No matter what Brandel et al say about LIV, it's millionaires vs. billionaires, as long as PIF wants to play, they will continue to attract top players 'cause...$. Average premier league soccer player, $4.7M, ave. basball, $4.1M, average PGA, $1.5. Problem, soccer/baseball players don't cover their own expenses. Tell brandel this ain't a children's hospital, it's sports-tainment and money doesn't talk, it bitch-slaps, the PGA needs a deal and Monahan acts like gollum hoping to keep his precious...job.

Looks like a man who isn’t in control and doesn’t want to be there. He comes across as someone who is used to getting his own way and never challenged and now he’s being asked to justify and explain things that he can’t or simply doesn’t think he has to.

Jay reportedly earned +-$23 mil in 2023...I think we should get to hear how much he earned from the SSG deal, since he worked for Fenway previously. Money, and not golf, looks to be the motivation for Jay to stay involved...and probably also the reason why he still wants to negotiate with PIF because it might be another huge payday for him!

The term, play stupid games, win stupid prizes, has never been more relevant than here. Jay has played with his memberships future. He gambled their security against being able to squah LIV before it started. In a position like his, if that is your most intelligent response, well, the tour never had a chance from the moment he got the job.

Jay is basically stalling for as long as possible as the last thing he really wants is a deal with PIF. That is becoming clearer. Accelerating talks? Considering nothing happened for months any contact could be considered as acceleration.

The euro tour will be fine. In fact they have more money coming imo. The euro tour doesn’t need a ton of stars except at their biggest events, similar to the pga tour. Imo.

I'm a LIV fan first but I stick up for Jay. He has experience as a commissioner, deal making, and investments. Despite pissing people off, he has raised more money and opportunity for players. Not only opportunities but more careers for guys trying to earn a living playing golf. He is also acknowledging the opportunity the PIF has to provide for global golf. Jay has managed to raise 3 billion without selling out to the PIF and keeping the PGAT a strong single pillar. He is putting his foot down to making a mutual deal with PIF, not selling out to PIF. He' s done a great job for the PGAT, and people need to understand that Jay is in the bottom line dollar position, not a position to win the personality contest. These are my words.. personally I have a business degree and I am an analyst in a financial role at a company that requires me to understand capital, ownership and investing.

@@coobay4786 I doubt the PGAT is bleeding money. They just closed a deal that's 3 billion dollars in capital. Plus they have tremendous media deals and revenue from that. Also, the 1.5 billion dollar player impact/performance program they have is a smart way to keep players on the PGAT because it incentivizes players for performance and legacy, two core things about the PGAT. They were bleeding money when the PIF was suing them with very costly lawsuits, which they ended those lawsuits in their negotiations with them. All else things are things I mentioned in my first comment.

Jay Monohan needs to take the Dana White approach to when fighters leave the UFC for another promotion... Basically, call them out for running from the pressure and competition. Great players who couldn't handle heat and quit. Say what you want about the quality of LIV fields, they're just golfing for fun with a lot of money at stake. Nothing compared to playing at Riviera or TPC Sawgrass or even Bay Hill, etc. Ok I'm done 😂

If this what you believe you are remarkably naive Some facts: Top flight players on the PGA Tour are making millions, arranged by the PGAT, via sponsorship. And make behind the scene appearance money. AND are provided out of scope money just to exist …. So, if you think Rory or Jon (before he left) was white knuckling it going to Riviera, you are lost The top 25 PGA Players are NOW AS A RESULT OF LIV well looked after outside of the ropes with elevated tournaments etc Wake up !

For a guy that did so bad, he didn’t half get a juicy bonus and a seat further into the pga, monahans mess, but his bank account improved dramatically for it all… and I bet pound to a penny he walks off into the sunset one day with a golden handshake……🏌🏻🇺🇸🏴
