I thought to myself “it would be awesome if the Tour posted every shot of the playoff, but all they do is show 3 minutes of putts for any highlight reel.” All jokes aside this was great. Thanks PGA Tour!

I think they only play 18 and 17 so the crowd is close and the people in the stands can see. I may be wrong, just what I think. Cheers

How about a Par 3 hole. Same holes over and over is kind of boring. Maybe they could use carts in the playoff to speed it up a bit. Of course that would end the commercial fest.

How you want to do it then, the people can't run to holes further away.

@@diggermeddler1169 Well they did play other holes than 18, so they obviously were willing to have people move. Usually #1 and #10 tee boxes are within a reasonable walking distance from the 18th green, so those would be options. You could also have the players go drive out to 9, and finish by the clubhouse. Another common format is after the first sudden death playoff hole, they’ll go back to 16 and play their way in. I guarantee if you asked the players, they would tell you they didn’t care for that format. That pin on 18 was inaccessible, and very difficult for the players to get aggressive to try and make birdie. They were playing for par almost every time, which is why they tied so many times.

To those who don’t like the playoff format: Most events are formatted similar or exactly like this because by the end of a tournament, every fan on the entire course is huddled around 18. It would take way too much time and hassle running the spectators around to different holes especially since playoffs are usually racing against daylight

I still think Justin Rose has the total package but needs to hit the power fade almost exclusively. Why? Look at Thomas the talent king struggling with his tee ball hooks etc.

Justin Rose has had a very solid career 10 pga tour wins and a handful of European Tour and international wins. At 40 years old his best days are behind but dont be surprised if he adds another Major title to his U.S Open win.

Little known fact - the guy that has been the "GET IN THE HOLE!" idiot since 1998 - he was the Rainbow Wig John 3:16 guy back from '76-81 ! True story! He took the time in the interim off to run an Amway distributorship out of his rumpus room in Des Moines, .. nk! His name is Fritz O'Callahan - an Italian American fellow.

@@sunsetviewmensleague3517 It’s simply because pars don’t win championships. This wasn’t the USOpen. H.E. finally proved it after 8 holes. Poor drives, poor iron shots equal very long birdie attempts and scramble pars. However I love the way H.E. didn’t celebrate in his opponents face like some golfers do. He was total first class in his victory as was Hickok in defeat.
