I once interviewed at the business one of my guildies was the VP at and I had gotten so used to calling him by his in-game name for so many years that during the interview with his hiring manager I accidentally mentioned him by his in-game name. The guy looked at me like he was now skeptical of the entire interview up to that point and asked me how I knew {{in game name}}. That was when I realized I screwed up, corrected myself and then told him "from an online game and that was me calling him by his name on the game". I did get offered a job! I ended up declining though due to how much travel would be required, as I had a young family at home. Still friends with said guildie a couple of years later.

tbh ever since blizz came down harsher on erp, i get what he means about rp realms. people are generally friendlier there, and you'll just walk in on people talking about things in-character while questing. it's just nice, so long as you don't linger in Certain Places! but those places are pretty small and easy to avoid, thankfully, so it works out.
