It's not often we see a low tier character make impressive runs such as this one. Let's take a look into how he took advantage of the tools given to him and and used his unique game plan to take down some incredible players!

It's a shame to me that Dr. Mario isn't that good of a character in the games he's been in, because I absolutely love his game feel and design of being a powerful but slow bruiser, yet still retaining default Mario's more jack-of-all-trades qualities. Here's hoping this concept gets revisited in a future smash game or even a new platform fighter in general (Dan Fornace please I'm begging ya).
@Yushe_
@Yushe_ 3 күн бұрын
It really is a shame how bad he is in ultimate but at least in melee he is considered a good-decent character. I play him a lot and I feel like he's underrated, his projectile is really good and his cape can completely ruin the recoveries of some of the top tiers and most importantly he has such a perfect weight that it makes it hard to combo him and almost impossible to chain grab him. If someone pushed him enough I do believe he could be considered a low high tier.

More Importantly, 85 characters means you have a greater chance of having the odd bracket run where you encounter more even or favorable matchups and avoid negative ones by sheer volume of the roster size and odds of matching up negatively.

Hey PGStats. When you get the chance, I recommend making a video focused on Akakikusu. In my opinion, he's the best Hero main in the world. A lot of people think playing Hero is only viable if you're "lucky," but Akakikusu's existence rips that view apart. He's so consistent even without getting crits or using down special. He's just good all around. He doesn't travel outside of Japan much, but that's because of the whole language barrier thing (which probably won't be an issue pretty soon. According to some rumors, Akakikusu is practicing playing Hero in English).

Exactly. I wish we'd see more of this at top level, but most players are so focused on winning they just main whoever is considered top 15. Sparg0 is a great example of a top player who dropped a top 3 chatting for a character he loved, and is still top 2 or 3 in the world. (And before anyone says anything, I do NOT think Cloud is top tier. If he is, he's bottom top tier).

Shuton said that Shisshou the Doc player from Kyushuu , goes even against him when they play random characters. that implies that Shisshou has great fundies and is capable of playing multiple characters at a high level in a similar fashion to Zackray or Rizeasu . but funny enough , apparently he would only play Doc in tournaments because he simply enjoys the character the most and finds it more satisfying to win with him .

@Spyder-Marth
@Spyder-Marth Жыл бұрын
He's honestly more underrated than Corrin and Marth ever was in Ultimate. When I first played Doc, I thought "THIS guy is bottom tier?" I thought he was mid tier but nobody believed me. Now that he's actually getting results, people have to actually observe him. The same thing happened with post-buff Corrin. Cosmos dropped her very quickly and people thought she sucked, but then Pink Fresh, Ly, Shadic, and MKLeo got the results with her and now people are saying she's high tier (including top players). Apparently this is happening with Marth, too. People thought he was trash because Leo dropped pre-buffed Marth. Marth got buffs, and now Stretch and Ignaize are pulling off some crazy stuff. They haven't won majors yet, but just watching them play makes it undeniable that Marth mains have a LOT of potential. They get better and better as time goes and have good records against several top players. Ignaize actually beat Skyjay a few times in bracket.

This is a really interesting look at this, as a (kind of) low tier main myself in Icies, my answer for top tiers has always been to play the safest defensive option and try to win a war of attrition, hoping my opponent becomes impatient enough to make a bad move. I guess I’ll get back to the lab and see what kind of trickier setups I could get away with in those seemingly unwinnable matchups.

The basketball analogy doesn't really work. The 2007 Warriors weren't using a "risky and inconsistent" strategy - they were using the ideal strategy. They were just the first team to realize that 3 pointers from accurate shooters result in a higher average point per possession than the easier 2 point shot. Nowadays, most every team attempts more 3s than the average in 2007. If it was a strategy for underdogs, you wouldn't see the top teams use it so often.
