A pH meter must be calibrated before each use to ensure accurate measurements. In this video, our lab technician demonstrates the procedure for performing a 3 point calibration using standard buffer solutions of 4.00, 7.00 and 10.00.

The challenging part is finding a pH meter that actually works, a lab rarity.

You should mention that liquid-filled (rather than gel filled) electrodes require that a plug or collar be opened at the top of the electrode to allow for the fluid inside to drain effectively through the salt bridge. It is also important the the salt bridge be submerged in the solution.

Great video. Thanks. You forgot to emphasize that the pH buffer needs to be swirling with the probe in it.

Just a couple comments/suggestions- The background music was unnecessary and a bit distracting. Also, the link to the virtual pH calibration lab probably should have gone towards the end after the video was watched rather than at the beginning. But that's just my opinion. :)

So im having an issue every few measurements. It will read stable for 2-10 seconds then drop .02 and then immediately say stable but it will continue this for up to 15 or 20 min if I let it go and can drop over 1 in that time. Anyone have this problem?
