There is a secondary reason as well, which has to do with launching. Because of the significant added weight it takes significantly more force to get the same angular velocity. Pulling the ripcord with the same force as the original Phantom Orion will give you a much weaker launch because it wasn’t able to accelerate properly (likely a problem with Metal L-Drago too which might explain the tip kicking in too fast)

It's one of the main reasons I like Beyblade, bey physics are really interesting! I didn't know that about the wheel Phantom, that's pretty cool.

I actually just left a comment myself explaining this a little more in depth. People always assume it’s the Bearing Drive that makes Orion the best stamina type. And while it does help a little, you could replace it with 145WD and it would still have the best stamina out of every other bey just because the 4D metal wheel is so well designed to max out stamina

I think the reason it spins less is more due to the phantom PC core with all the weight on the outer edge it has better centrifugal force

you could also see when the full metal orion was spinning that the full metal bearing tip was unbalanced, and it didn't help that the tip was sharper than regular bearing, so it also lost a lot of stamina just flinging its weight around

Correction some the metal actually has more friction potential. Inside the BD there is a metal pole that freespins. there is contact that happens between the pole and the main part of B:D whic causes eventual chipping and scraping, basically nullifying the freespin and making its stamina unpredictable. The only metal that would have less friction is the actual tip of B:D. I think if there were a way to put the FMB:D tip piece on the OG B:D then it could have high potential.

The mass is distributed the same for both of them however the metal one has more mass so it has higher moment. The difference in skin time is probably due to the bearing drive not being designed as well on the metal one or the metal one being unbalanced

@@Player-pj9kt that can probably be one factor. But I am PRETTY SURE that the weight distribution is different, thus affecting the performance. One is obviously heavier yes. But the other one HAS most of its weight focused on the outside creating a flywheel effect. You could put bearing drive on any good stamina wheel and it still wouldn't do as well as phantom Orion

If an object has greater moment of inertia, it will spin longer than an object with lower moment (assuming they start at same angular speed). We can calculate the moment of inertia of phantom orion's fusion wheel. Since both the metal and OG one have metal frames, we can say that the moment of the metal frame is the same for both. Now we must compare the moment of the core. I will approximate the core as a disk. Google says the moment of a disk is = 0.5MR^2 where M is the mass of the core, R is the core. Both the metal and OG phantom orion have the same shape and radius core. However, since the mass of the core is greater for metal phantom orion, the moment has to be greater than the OG phantom orion. Therefore the moment of inertia is greater for the all metal beyblade. Think of it this way..everpart of the metal bey is the same shape as the OG bey. The only difference is the mass. Think of it this way, if you have two identicals disks, but one was made out of metal and the other out of plastic, which one will have the greater moment? the one with metal

@He-Man00 ya I agree moment of inertia is hard to understand and calculating it is pretty hard as well. I'm studying physics in colledge so when I was first introduced to the concept it took a while foe my brain to wrap around it

I’m sure the B:D works as intended. The reason it’s stamina is so bad compared to the original is because it’s full metal. The reason the original has such amazing stamina is because the entire center of the bey is plastic, meaning all the weight from the metal wheel is at the very edge of the bey, increasing centrifugal force. Since the new one is completely metal, it ruins the weight distribution and brings the all the weight to the center, decreasing the amount of centrifugal force produced.

I feel like Damian would scare Tithi with the way he acts, just like Kyoya did, which is gonna prompt him to just tell Quetzacoatl to run away and set it to defense mode, which would cause Damian to be unable to cause any damage, but maybe dragging the kid to hell could prove too much for him. That is, assuming this is Tithi during his first appearance. If it's him during or after the battle against Rago, I'm pretty sure he would just hit Kerbecs once and it'd split in half on impact and Tithi would just easily power through Hades lmao

And that's not all.... Let's put it this way, why do you think fidget spinner spin long even you just gave it a boost using your fingers? It's all because of its weight distribution. Having a significant mass far from the center of rotating objects, the moment of inertia will be higher. The higher the moment of inertia, the higher the rotating objects retain its momentum. That's why full metal phantom orion will never beat the original version.
