So, to summarise; if local pharmacies close, unwell folks will need to travel (likely by car because when you’re ill you probably aren’t walking) further to get medicine. And how, precisely, does this strategy support environmental targets that are being rammed down every motorists throat on a daily basis???

When you really badly ill, you can’t drive either. Not to mention not everyone has a car. This affects mostly the elderly and disabled, but they could not care less if we are dead or alive…

@@fabolvaskarika7940 well you do matter and we all need to stand together and get Reform into No10 - y’know, they may well be the new kid on the block but we can give them a chance - doing what we always do in terms of the two historical parties means we will just get decades more of the same as before. We owe it to ourselves, to Reform and to 🇬🇧 to take a punt on Reform. That’s what I reckon anyway

I support little pharma! We can still walk to ours.....but have to drive for the next nearest one. Driving and parking...not exactly getting safer, easier or cheaper. Very Bad for our country if more Chemists close.

the money is in the prescription charges that is why they deliver to your door for free the stuff they sell privately they make little because they charge double the price they don't sell anything for a loss

I decided to go private with a clinic on Harley street. Costs £200 a year. Have not looked back. I have a private specialist consultant and a private nurse on call 24/7. Private pharmacy. Next day Royal Mail delivery of my meds before 1pm. Never looked back.

This appears to be very misleading. Seems to me there are two sides to the pharmacy business, the prescription side and private sales to the public. Obviously prescriptions should be paid for in full by the government, but I would imagine that pharmacies have lost a lot of private sales to supermarkets and online sales, which will affect there profits greatly. It would be sad to see more high street businesses go from the high street.

The goal is to stay out of the health care system for as long as possible. If you don't yet have a chronic disease or health condition, do everything you can to stay that way. If you are already sick, make some diet and lifestyle changes now to reduce your dependence on all those in the health care system whose job (and sometimes significant wealth) is reliant on you staying sick.

It’s easier to say than done. I had a very healthy lifestyle, but diseases did found me. Unfortunately in the UK there is no holistic approach and even specialists are not really interested to prevent that someone conditions get worse. My auto immune disease was unmonitored and mistreated, then I got more and more illnesses and all was neglected by the doctors. Now having cancer and there is no treatment what they would recommend, because of my complex issues. Still will be a long very painful period.

I gave up with my usual pharmacy when the queues got longer than an hour. Then one day they just shut with my prescription inside. That was it. They lost the business, it wasn't taken from them.

@@chrisr2368 Likely. But I do struggle to understand how a service goes bust when people are literally queueing to use it - as they must by law if they want life-changing drugs. It's a captive market, how do you get it wrong?
