Just seeing this in 2020. I remember this era of Pharrell. I was 11 at the time and my older brother had shown me the video to She Wants to Move. I thought it was the coolest video ever and I've been in love with Pharrell and N.E.R.D every since. My brother passed away last year and among other amazing things, I'll never forget him introducing me to their music. RIP Jarvis❤ #NERD4ever

It's crazy. I wasn't even old enough to listen or even get to know NERD or the Neptune's back in 2004. I was still in elementary school. And finding their music from the time I was about 17 and now @ 22 is really awesome. The melodies, beats and sounds are almost timeless for me because its all so relevant.. in my opinion at least. Songs like Jump, Happy (off the seeing sounds album) and fly or die sound ike the songs I needed when I started high school.

having just turned 15 right now and being a huge NERD fan make me wish that i was able to see just how influential he was at the time. i love that i love NERD and not many people my age know who they are. it makes me feel like i’m apart of some secret club and watching this documentary from one of the small corners of the world makes me realise how just awesome pharrell and chad and shay are. it’s not just their music. i love pharrell’s bbc line and the things he’s done for the community he’s surrounded by.
@faithi99522 жыл бұрын
i just graduated high school and have grown up listening to NERD since I was basically born (in 2004) I love their music and also wish I was there in that time to witness how influential they were in that era. I totally agree with you that its not only the music that makes them great. Its crazy that pharrell has influenced so much in our gens pop culture but I don't think many people see that yet. Love to see people my age love NERD too.

I'm happy that Pharrell was my ultimate hero during my youth. I've achieved success, steer clear of drugs and excessive drinking, and lead a healthy lifestyle. I vividly remember being 19, sitting in my car, listening to "Push People," and dreaming of becoming a successful manager in a big city, while grappling with the contrasting dream of my girlfriend who wanted to remain in our village and start a family. We each pursued our own paths, and I'm grateful that this music served as a catalyst for me to achieve these goals. For me so many neptunesbeats sounded like "big business"... I wanted to be part of this. Today I didn´t see it through this romantic glasses, because I suffered a lot to get where I am... But lIstening to this song again after 13 years was funny... thanks pharrell

1:44 "You go to some countries and they don't know what the fuck you're talking about. But, they love the melody and they love the beat and the beat just moves them. That is a language." 7:18 " In the music industry today, there are not a lot of men or women who speak positively about the youth of America, and he speaks positively about them and to them. I think that has a large percentage of his popularity. People realize he makes good music but he's also very friendly, very optimistic about people and their potential and life's potential. You don't hear that from a lot of people who are in the business, they care about themselves, their music, that's about it". 38:29 "Life is very simple man. It's how you apply your thoughts that make it even difficult or simple to understand. And then you just gotta take action. It's a simple equation." 39:36 "That doesn't curve my creativity. I'm not letting them down. It's not like I'm busy buying a watch so I'm not making a beat. Like, music is important to me. And my fans know that. They know that that's what comes first. They know that music and beats to me are like the biggest diamonds you could ever buy. And that's something that you can't buy. These things don't make me fly though. If you get shot, you're going to bleed. if you don't eat, you're going to be hungry. And when someone that you know and love dies, it hurts. That's human. There are people who think that they are beyond those things and they get hit with reality. But that's not who I am. " 41:27 "I respect him because what he does with his craft is just wonderful. Just being around him is a privilege for me. And to see that he spends his money and does things for young kids with the skateboard park... The city council looks at the skate park like a lot of adults do - it's just a bunch of kids with attitudes tearing the place up because that's what they do when they go to the mall and places with their skateboards. They just cause disruption to most people. But if you give them a place and say this is your place, then they're going to have fun and won't cause problems in other places. " 43:34 "It's about bragging, a true philanthropist just does his work. The biggest giver in the world is anonymous. Because you don't get anything back except your own gratitude. 46:44 "Whenever I think somebody has some sort of talent, I'll make a phone call if I got time to do it. And if it happens for the person, it happens."

@djbrotherelectric Жыл бұрын
So you like those boots and mask ye wears? I will agree with pharrell's style, I just can't bring myself to like ye's style but it maybe bc I've never cared for him. I mean I'd be a fool to say he hasn't written some good music but the the music of his I like I could probably count on my hands. Not hating, just my opinion and happy for him that he is able to make a living on something he loves to do, I'll never hate on that whether I like or dislike someone's art. What with ye's style do you like?

@KingAbel510 Жыл бұрын
@@djbrotherelectric his as well as Pharrell’s and my main point being was how it was visionary. Both of their fashion and music sense even back then is still applicable now. And how they’re still both valid in the industries of both music and fashion today.
