Phasors are a cute math technique to simplify AC circuit analysis. You'll like 'em.

You know, the whole AC thing just clicked in my head, and the best part is my exams are in less than 12 hours time. Seriously though, thank you so much for simplifying(and reinforcing) what I've learnt in class. Should have come across this channel sooner.

That minus sign is Lenz's Law, and everybody should know it by this point. Obviously the voltage will be induced in a direction to oppose the change in flux, so I am interested only in the magnitude. Thanks for clarifying!

I have a question about that though, if we're solving problems that have to do with flux, does that mean we *don't* add that negative in our calculations ever ?

Thanks! I think I'll do just that next year. Presently, I'm doing the problem-solving in my class with my students. I suggest you tie up a physics teacher and make him show you an example in your hometown. Then let him go and watch your back. We hold grudges.

Very helpful video. What would also be helpful would be if you put an example with numbers at the end to kind of show how to apply all the theory and proofing you do.

Hi Doc.Have you ever thought about the inductor produced the emf is exactly cancel out the applied voltage? The voltage finally applied on the inductor in the ac circuit is ZERO? I know emf is produced by changing current. But you just wrote EMF=applied voltage as well.

I found one difficulty in drawing graphs of sinusoidal main field flux due to source , lenz's flux that opposes changes in main flux , and also thus effective flux in inductor and thus the emf graphs, when a pure inductor is connected to an AC sinusoidal voltage source. Can you please upload them.

Video guide is good. But help me out on understanding how an inductor works with an AC voltage source using wave forms .................Things like : HOW WILL BE APPLIED SINUSOIDAL VOLTAGE GRAPH HOW WILL BE CURRENT THROUGH THE CIRCUIT HOW WILL THE FLUX BUILD UP AND INTURN PRODUCE ADITIONAL EMF AND THUS INDUCED CURRENT AND HENCE THE LENZ LAW FLUX............................... WAVEFORM OF HOW MAIN FLUX AND LENZ'S FLUX WILL AID AND OPPOSE EACH OTHER IN THIS PROCESS USING WAVEFORM ANALYSIS......................? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.......................THIS DOESN'T LET ME SLEEP AT NIGHTS.
