I loved the opening with Van Halen's "JUMP!" That was a tough year. Really thought my beloved Cubs were heading to the WS. If not for one Steve Garvey homerun. I love Harry and Steve...

F that...the blame for how the Cubs' '84 season ended should all go to Jim Frey for the way he woefully mismanaged the bullpen in the NLCS

Garvey home run happened when the game was tied at 5-5. Far from certain that the Cubs win that game absent the Garvey homerun. Regardless, should have won Game 5. Up 3-0 in the fifth with Sutcliffe pitching. SMH

I think the Mets and the Cubs were the best two National League teams in 1984, but the Mets just peaked too soon. The Cubs found themselves at the right time and just had bad luck in the postseason. It's fun seeing the Mets here as they were beginning to find themselves for the first time in nearly a decade.

And of course, when it came to the cubs at NY Mets , If memory serves correctly, WGN wasnt able to use their crew for the game, in fact Harry even made mention during the game of the fact that they had to use the mets tv crew [WWOR] and thats why some of the graphics and pictures were different [if you listen very closely you could hear someone giving Harry the closing cues "Executive producer/director Arne Harris" ,then with the close "WGN TV Sports Presentation" ]

I still love the old uniforms with the stirrups. The players looked much more professional and classy. We need to go back to that uniform style. Players today are just lazy.

Takes me back to when I had Falcon Cable TV in Los Angeles. WGN - Chicago and WTBS - Atlanta were the Superstations in my menu of channels along with the regular Los Angeles Channels, so I had the privilege of watch Cubs and Braves games on a regular basis, except when either team would be playing the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.

Whoa why did Cubbage hold Danny Heep at third in the 9th? He could’ve had a walk-off inside-the-parker and decked Jody Davis at the plate. He had it. Damn. Still second-guessing after all these years lol.

Bill Buckner is mentioned a couple of times early. He was traded to Boston later in the month for Dennis Eckersley. Buckner was critical of Durham’s blunder in the playoffs against San Diego later in ‘84, only to return to Shea Stadium and make a similar one against these same Mets in the ‘86 World Series.

That's an understatement. Their egos clashed, Milo resented playing second fiddle to Harry. Harry also had a public fued with longtime A's voice Monte Moore in his one season stint (1971) in Oakland.
