From a present pov i will disagree. Her music has actually changed a lot with years in terms of depth. This is an old recording. Beautiful though .She at times does emphasis on drut gayaki more but what I love her is the dynamic Ness in her music. She improvises so well .

@@serendipity1044 yes she is dynamic....and also quite innovative in her approach to singing(Gayaki)....but there are certain things which can't be compromised while doing inventions...having adequate knowledge of swarstanas is one of the requirement and not the only requirement in khayal Gayaki...One need to incorporate depth to the swaras by that way only one can reach the heart of the audiance becoz everyone don't understand swaras but they do understand the feelings and emotions..IMO Kaushik ji sings movie songs and gazals very beautifully and in depth she needs to incorporate it in her khayal Gayaki also.

Seriously after hearing a more than 30min vilambit you have to say this? Drut mein everyone sings fast taans ,n she does the toughest technical things because she can n most of them are intricate of her gharana , which you will find in pandit ji's old recordings . If that is not sweet enough for someone ,that's okay .classical music is way more dynamic than just being sweet. 😊

@@malabhargava that's your problem. Calling technical elements gimmicks itself shows ur ignorance towards the subject. The kind of music ur expecting with no alankars , no gamaks , no complexities is not part of proper patiala gayaki . I would rather listen to an artist with impeccable technique and control ,which holds the emotion rather than just anyone who cannot bring new elements in the music n plays safe . Thats just my opinion. .but these r not gimmicks don't use the term .it's derogatory and shows ignorance.

@@Soulintune77 I'm not engaging with someone who can't discuss without getting rude and offensive. I don't like the way she sings - I have a right to my likes and dislikes. As for ignorance, I too have been trained in Hindustani classical, so it's not totally from lack of knowledge.

But I have never seen a trained person calling technical elements "gimmicks" , you have full rights to like and dislike an artist .there are various major artists ,whom I don't connect with either. But I don't go and call out their music especially on an technical level cause I know they are in the place cause they did something right n deserve to be there. My training n association with music has atleast taught me that and I am grateful for that. If you are a student of music indeed , all the best for musicial and spiritual journey. I hope someday you will understand what exactly I am speaking against. Also rather listen and encourage artists you like ,instead spreading negativity somewhere else .thankyou and take care .

Please sing n tell us how to sing then . When bol baat or bol taan is there. It's gimmicky , when it's not there ,it's an issue. There is a option . You didn't like it ,Is absolutely okay. But don't tell a maestro with years of training how to present a ragaa. Also didn't u hear the plenty beautiful akaar taans she did? Sargam taans r intricate part of her gayaki n they are way harder to than usual akaar taans . Criticise Karo par , na samjho Jaise nahi

@@Soulintune77 did you not get my point? Aakar and taan is the very end part of a performance. I didn't say anything about the aakaar taan or sargam. The main thing is the Raag and it's manifestation. I said the bhaav/emotion of Miya ki Todi isn't there and also many of the phrases are of Gujri Todi's. Seems like you're an uneducated person. You didn't even get my point and still wrote a long shitty reply.

​I got ur comment. But if you are so musically educated you must know every artist interprets a raga in their own way. A rag cannot have only "alloted" emotion or style. A yaman can sound playful and romantic, also can sound extremely meditative, sombre and mellow . It depends on the artist's expression. I am not musically uneducated , I have heard enough miya ki todi to say this. Go hear legends of diff gharanas ,the emotional content will diff... Every educated musicians / listener knows a raga can be sung n presented in infinite ways , if someone is following the pattern n structure its all acceptable . By your definition, rap music has most words packed in beats, so that's the best form of music? Music is not always about following words, but it's always about stirring your soul and inducing ecstatic feelings which this khayal definitely does for me. I also love rabindrasangeet.

Please don't try to under rate your Guruji by uttering this kind of derogatory remarks. Pandit Nihar Ranjan Ji is an exponent / Legend of Bishnupur Gharana. But plz don't compare Kaushiki Chakroborty's khayal gayaki with Kabir Suman.....Plz Sir 😂😂😂😂
