This video what what made me want to be a seabee. Today was my last test of builder A school. And I'm heading to this same battalion. If you have a plan and stick to it you can make anything happen. At times it seemed like I would never be able to pursue my goal. When you think you cannot keep going keep pushing and never stop until you get what you want. You will succeed. I am a United states navy seabee.

Thank you for your service! I was in NMCB 74 during Desert Shield/Storm 90-91, was with 74 for about 3 1/2 years, then got shore duty in San Diego, got out in 96 after 6 1/2 years…..was in Saudi for Desert Storm, a lot of this video made me tear up remembering those days….now 74 is decommissioned…..I was an EO3…..

glad to see my brothers ( and sisters nowdays) keeping up the legacy. my dad was an original seabee and made a career out of it. (james h. phillips CEC ret 1967). he is dead now so i guess he is a DCEC. or CECD. it's ok, he would have loved this stuff. i was with mcb 5 (hueneme) and mcb 40 (davisville) and also a CE. made 2 deps to vn. my brother (EO) and a cousin (BU) were also seabees during viet nam. seems to be in the blood. i have to say i am glad to have been in vietnam instead of that shithole you are in. at least i had a tree to hide behind, rain, (sometimes more than wanted) and shade. Best part....being politically correct had not been invented yet, we could act normal without adverse consequences and that was (and is) conducive to good mental health. thanks for the film, bro, ooyaa!

I am having a hard decision between being a CM (because I doubt I'll be in the field like everyone in the video), a UT or a CE. Any tips on what could be a better option in the long run/post military? Even if it's a diff rate like EO or BU?

I started out life as a Mechanic. I got tired of crawling on the ground, getting greasy and dirty. I decided that I’d be on it than underneath it so, I became an EO. While still a mechanic, I had this little voice in my head saying, “You’re gonna get old one day man. Do you really want to be crawling on the ground fixing junk? Nowadays... I’m an operator in the real world. With my military retirement I’m bringing in about $100,000 a year. There’s way more money in operating than there is being a carpenter or possibly a mechanic but, just being clean and off the ground all day is worth it to me. Don’t forget, no matter what you do, be happy and maybe listen to that little voice in your mind. I did and it’s paid off. I sit in an AC cab all day pushing dirt around and I love it.

James Caouette .... Hello my fellow future EO., glad you volunteered for a hard and rigorous job. Just so you know, nothing happens in battalions without Alfa Company, that's where you'll be most likely. I retired last October and I'm currently operating equipment on the outside and still having fun. Yes, I've seen combat and it's not fun. Run when you can, keep your head down and don't get to far ahead of everyone else, lol. Here's me receiving my Purple Heart. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sL6phtWBp7OmlnU.html Good luck my brother, have fun and just show up on time and you're golden.

Hey Man thanks for your service. I talked to my recruiters at my high school earlier this week you know anything about SW's? , their job just revolves around rebar is what I got out of what he says I want to weld but if I not I'll look into CE or EO
@pheyup33
@pheyup33 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Brother... SW huh? Yea... they'll teach you welding for sure but it's pretty rare to see a SW do his job. Just not all that much welding going on in the Bees. We call SW's, a BU that knows how to weld. Don't get me wrong, if you want to weld, be a SW for sure but not much welding going on at all. Next question... do you want it to be a career? The Navy? If yes, get into being a EO, you'll get advanced faster... the SW rate is very slow, along with EA, and UT. I would tell you to a CM but they get a little more dirty than EO's and laying on concrete putting a transmission in a truck gets old pretty fast. I used to be a mechanic but I got to thinking, one day I'll be to old for this. So, instead of being under it, I get in the seat and operate it, whole lot cleaner less back breaking work. CE? They will teach you CE, my dad was a CE. You'll end up again being a BU that knows how to wire something... I'd say, CE, SW, EA and UT are the slowest of all the rates as far as making rank. I hate to steer you wrong man but if I had to do it over again from what I know, I'd still be an EO... do what "You" want to do my friend... you have to live with "You" not me.

Robert Dorch thanks man I really appreciate it id rather hear it from someone who knows what there talking about. As an EO is it really dangerous with IEDs in Country? , I saw that you were awarded a Purple Heart because of one.

major payne ... I reckon it’s like stepping in dog shit, lol. If there’s dogs running around you’re bound to step in a pile eventually I guess, lol. The problem I faced was, the clearance team couldn’t move forward due to the road becoming narrow. I then was instructed to widen the road which turned me into the clearance team, lol. Yep!! Found one.

Robert Dorch hey man sorry for such a late response but I really appreciate the time you took to answer my questions but I think SW is the way I need to go I love welding so I think I’ll take that path to better myself and serve with John Wayne’s Bees!
