19:35 in nobi's youtube content, he constantly stresses strings that can be interrupted or can't be interrupted ("warenai renkei"). all of his character countermeasure videos go over situations where you can low jab, armor, or sidestep, and it shows he's labbed these situations like hell in his matches against rangchu

Look, I love this rule about always doing randoms stages... but hitting rematch in a tournament should pick a new, random stage that isn't the one they just did. Enough with going back to stage select and then getting the same stage, lol.

I think it'd be great in tournament mode if the game simply randomized stage every time when you hit rematch, if we are really emulating tournament. To ensure both players are ready, once loser hits it, the other player simply has to confirm as well. Not only do they leave too much up to human error for their ruling, but they cut into all the time lost they're trying to eliminate. That said, I do love the idea of needing to (theoretically) play on different stages every time though, because players left to their own devices really narrow the playable options way too much and there's too much exciting tech to be discovered.

Yo Phi, 3:39 you said "the randomness is not very good" True randomness doesnt look "random enough" for people. Repetition is a thing that is going to happen with "true random", so whats aestetically most pleasing as random is just avoiding the same thing in the row. There are some interesting articles on "true random playlists" with music, and why they feel not that random at all.

Shaheen mirror match to pick up on slide block you do immediate df1 or db2 if you feel late b4 to set up more Oki. If you are super cracked and get the read a perfectly timed CH ss2 into (c)d,u2 is a full combo without airborne scaling or the more reasonable but seldom used CH db3,4 which is big damage launcher but uses your tornado early so combo routes are different. In the final hit of the match if Sephiblack had ss instead of walking to AK's back fc df2 would have whiffed as it doesn't track to the sides only mid front and high back, it's a super weird hitbox.

He needs a serious deep dive into what makes him so strong because damn… his tracking, a safe heat engager power crush, insane pressure tools with wr2 is +5, b3 is +3 and fast/abusable, u1 is +1, but low crushes. He has above average/strong heat, very easy combos and massive damage, fantastic punishment from standing and ws, multiple powerful heat smashes, insane 50/50, insane pokes (df1 tracks well to SSR, his ‘weak’ side… man. hi hardstuck red player here. why do pros heat dash into nothing? i understand adding pressure but almost all times ive seen heat dashes happen it just resets to neutral unless they dashed to extend a combo. is it not more advantageous to just hold on to heat?
@kylefields3951
@kylefields3951 9 күн бұрын
Depends. I actually agree with you insofar as how some of the Professional Players straight up waste Heat some Rounds, but for the most part, they're using it to use it. In a Competitive Format that has Resources, it is in your best interest to actually Use, Threaten, or Present those Options tied to that Resource. If you watch Tekken 8 for long enough, you'll notice a big correlation between Players who lost the Round and didn't activate Heat a single time, and the Players that beat them that Round having used it. Heat Dash is only +4 or +5, so despite the Defender being at a Disadvantage, it doesn't mean they can't bet on a good Mash with Power Crush, High Crush, Low Crush, Backswing Blow, Rage Art etc. Only being -4 to -5 means that also the Defender can utilise a Sidestep if the Attacker chooses a slow Move to Mix them up with. These Professionals are weighing the pros and cons of Attacking on Immediate Timing and are willing to Spend Resources to gather data on what kind of Player they are fighting. "Will this person Mash after Heat Dash? Are they going to Block my Mixups?" These are important questions when you're fighting the literal best Players, and you only have so much time to gather that information. That's why these Players so often do Small Pokes and wait after Dashing in with their Heat. They don't want to make a Move that will get them killed if they don't have to. Staying Conservative with your Attacks means that you can gather a lot of data per Interaction while staying relatively safe. I am a Tekken Emperor Shaheen and Tekken Emperor Steve Player if that helps🗿

When I saw that Nobi made it through winners and seeing who was already left (Arslan, Farzeen, AK no longer in the running) I kinda felt that he was gonna take it judging by the pre-Combo Breaker dojo tourney result which he also won (over Jeondding iirc) over similar players. Starting to see a trend where historically offensive heavy players are starting to find more success in this game but are not dominating every tournament so I’m glad that results in huge majors are so varied. Hope this continues to be the case moving forward!

Hey PhiDX what do u think of these Jin balance ideas? - His CH d2 should only give KD and guarantee nothing after - His easy CH F4 combo should only give D1+2 (his old D2) unless you do difficult zen cancel/pickup - Demon paw should be very sidesteppable - Both his heat smashes should be very sidesteppable - His second variant heat smash should not be so plus on block - 213 string, 3 on CH should not wallsplat or guarantee d2 - His slow version of electric should NOT launch - Zen Up 1 Should tornado straight away instead of launch
@Spawn3582
@Spawn3582 26 күн бұрын
Just my thoughts on what you gave us - CH D2 could guarantee d1+2 - CH F4 dmg could he slightly adjusted but be left alone otherwise imo - Adjusting DP's hithox should fix that issue - Leave the heat smashes alone (Most ppl dont have steppable HS') - Reduce the knockback of the secondary heat smash - Make 4 from 214 -10 to make the the CH risk less one sided - This isnt a good change since its always launched imo - This is a pretty good idea

Im not sure when did you sell yourself to Harada Phid, but obviously something happened. I loved your older content where you approached the game with a critical mindset, identified issues, highlighted key points where the game needs to improve, but all i see now how "great" is tekken 8. If the game would be that great no one would need a person like you to tell them that hey its a great game, but obviously T8 is flawed, massively. After playing the game on a slightly better than average level for almsot half a year consistently, i'd wager that T8 is a bad entry at the series. The tremendous amounts of "ghost" hit/hurt boxes, how almost every 50/50 is either leads you to a massively opressive OKI situation or straight up counterhit launches, how many many strings re-allign you thus invalidating a lot of sidestepping actions and in general how the game got sped up is imo not a great design at all. All i see on tourneys as well, that pros are throwing out either their counter hitting tools or their unseeable mixes. Poking is almost entirely gone, nobody is committing to defense anymore and the game is looking like one of the most spam firendly and spam happy fg-s available at the moment. Ofcourse, this is just my take, people can disagree with me, but i miss your old content pointing out issues.. P.S.: statistics on player base which is verifyable (so referring to PC, which is obviously never was the largest market for fighting games), dropped significantly over the past couple of months, while contenders kept their player base at a stable level, especially SF6.
