So true. Any band knows how hard it is for the singer to make a proper cover of a Phil Collins song, it's quite impossible to not sound amateurish by trying it. It's like any Freddie Mercury's song. Phil Collins is very underrated as a singer compared to the recognition he has as a drummer or a songwriter. Maybe because it seems so effortless for him.

I’m getting to be a bit old, and I’ve been listening to Phil Collins since I was a child. This is my favorite song of his, and it still puts tears in my eyes. I miss Mr. Collins being active as in years past, but I do understand. We all are getting older. I do hope that he’s still doing well, wherever he may be. God Bless you Phil Collins.

Im 45 and same here, I think I was 3 or 4 that I can remember his songs. Sadly these songs today don’t have the true heart and soul that was put into making music like they did back then. It’s all auto tune and added singers or instruments nowadays. Where is the heart and soul of making good music? It’s dead now. These young kids listen to crappy music now with no real meaning behind it.

I wonder if Phil has ever truly been recognized for his supremely spectacular, self deprecating sense of humor! This song has always been a heart-wrenching masterpiece, but Phil allowing lighthearted potshots to be taken at his actual career is pure comedy gold!! Eric: _”He used to be the drummer in a really good band and, when the singer left, he took over.”_ Jeffery: _”Lemme ask you something: How good could he be if he’s back playing drums again?”_ And of course Phil, who has actually turned in some really great performances in films, puts on an intentionally bad Southern drawl! When criticized, his response: _”No one ever said I could act! He said I could sing!”_ Just marvelous!! 😚👌

@@turquoise770 Only if you're tone deaf, which you must be. There are a few similarities here and there but that happens with many, many songs, as there are only so many notes and arrangements that are usuable. Everything else is different though, so in no way can it be claimed to have the exact same changes, or perfectly align and it certainly can't be called a "total rip-off" as you claimed. You're vastly over-exaggerating to make something out of nothing. Knowing nothing clearly shows that I know more than you.

Im still listening to this masterpiece in 2023 . I remember in 1993 i broke up with my girlfriend and left her house in the rain and stoped a block away. I listened to this song for about an hour on my headphones and my walkman crying and thinking of her. I worked up the courage to go back to her house and told her I couldn’t go on with life without her and she took me back. We made love and it was the best day of my life. She then became my wife 8 years later and we had a baby girl, which is the best thing i have in my life. We seperated 16 years later but this song always reminds me of her and that day. @@adrianspeeder their is no where near as much quality music being made today, the library of quality music will be written in about 30 years when time has decided what's good and what's not. I just don't think their are as many artists out their today that can sing live, play instruments or perform on a stage like they did in the 70's and 80's

@@allthingsmetal1283 it doesn’t matter who can perform live if you’re talking about music that will last. The Beatles can’t perform live anymore because half of them are dead, but their recorded music sticks around, so the recorded music is the important part, not what it sounds like live

I saw Genesis at MSG and was very excited and happy that it was a great show! That being said I know Phil can only sit and sing while his son plays the drums,I wish he would tour and do his solo music! I would definitely love to attend that show!!!! I love his music!
