Age is part of life. It is NOT heartbreaking to see him "like this." It would be heartbreaking to see him giving up, giving in, wasting away in a nursing home or sitting in front of his TV. He's doing what he likes. He's doing what he was meant to do! I think it's uplifting and encouraging to me.....and hopefully to us all, when we really think about it.

It breaks my heart to see him like this. He was a drummer like no other, and an amazingly energetic man in his prime, but above all a wonderful person. I first met Phil when I was 14, back in 1971. He was immensely kind to me as an adoring Genesis fan, spending time to really talk with me. When I asked for his autograph, he said he would only do so if I signed the skin of his snare! He didn't have to do that, but it meant the world to me. I met him and the other members of Genesis again on successive gigs, and they were all really genuinely nice guys. After one gig, at a time when the U.K population was suffering greatly from the flu, and their road crew was down, my friend and I helped them load their gear into the trucks. When finished, Phil said "lads, you're not going until I've got you a round of drinks". True to his word we spent another hour with him and the others, he never let us spend a penny of our own money, and I was a quite inebriated but happy guy when we left to go home. Thanks to this man, I have a set of fond memories that I will never forget - bless you, Phil.

"The man owes the world nothing." I disagree. He chose to become a performing artist and as such he has an image to live up to. He doesn't live up to the standards he set himself anymore. And that should go for all artists: If you can't reach your former heights anymore, stay out of the public.

This man has a huge piece of my heart. I'm 50 years old and have been listening to his music since I was 11. I've seen him in concert 10 times, solo and with Genesis. I have certainly aged over the years and it is unrealistic to expect him to remain the same as he was in the 80's. For those of you who can't handle him getting older, there are plenty of old videos and concert footage for you to enjoy. For the rest of us who still admire and respect him for a lifetime of beautiful music, we can still sing along, a little slower and softer, with our dear old friend. I love you, Phil. Keep doing what you love.

Lynn B I’m 50 as well, I have seen Genesis and Phil solo since 1982, The light show was worth the money alone!, but the energy in the Forum was unreal. It takes a lot for him to do this now, I applaud him for the effort. Our music is slowly fading away, but at least we experienced it.

Bill, I am his age and 'stopped drinking' for gods sake. He does say, I AM SORRY' to his kids and girlfriends, family, children. He is sorry but, they suffered and he almost DIED SEVERAL TIMES. In hospital and doctors told him to 'get your business in order and WILL'. My god. He admittedly was a very sick man when he was doing so wonderfully. Losing consciousness in several hotels. The manager was always warned to 'check on him'. He did this to himself. He is in pain despite the surgery/s, which I had 7 spinal surgeries myself but, I shave 'daily', wash, wear nice clothes for me and my family. I want to look my best. Phil has just let himself go. Why? It must be pain because he was ALWAYS CLEAN. SHAVED. WORE THE BEST CLOTHES. He is rich. Has a fabulous boat and mansion and several homes. His kids at it ALL. He abused himself. Terribly. I am his age and can SEE IT....It has me in f******* tears but, again, he did this. He knows and doesn't shy away from it. I am sorry but, if he doesn't clean up and get BETTER DOCTORS. PAIN SPECIALIST. HAVE SOME SELF RESPECT (NO reason at all to come OUT ON STAGE LIKE THIS. His fans deserve better. If he can't. Stay home and get better doctors. Self care. There's got to be more to this Bill.....)> Bless you Phil Collins. Thank you for the memories. Saving my life in 1996 through your music as well as FLEETWOOD MAC getting me through. I wanted to end it. Psalm 46:10....that got my attention and I am not Religious

You’re the reason why I gave a try to drumming when I was young and also why my son became a much better drummer than me, some 25 years later, playing on my old drums, dusting it out of storage. Timeless, frozen in time ... perfect as always. You won’t find todays so called artists to sound exactly like they do live as they do in the studio! Shit, they can’t even lip sync to their own music. The 80’s is a time that will remain frozen, cause those artists, they still sound the same live today!!! Even without all the bells and whistles of today’s technology. I'm glad Phil is performing. He knows he has loving fans who want to see him regardless. He's such a talented guy even if he's not at his peak he's still the best. Shows great humility that he comes out and performs when lesser performers wouldn't. I'm a drummer and Phil inspired me like no other.

I've read some of the comments and they make me wonder why some fans think artist are not supposed to age or have health problems. Whats wrong with some of you...seriously? Everyone will get old and have shit wrong with them if you live long enough..smh It's part of the living process.. Just enjoy the fact that Phil is still with us and able to perform for us. He doesn't need your pity because he is still doing what he loves to do and I for one am thankful for it.

r5t6y12 I had a funny encounter with Lee at NAMM. I was late for an appointment and I was walking very fast around a corner and ran right into him and knocked him down. I apologized many times as I helped him up. He was very nice and understanding. Turns out that we were headed to the same booth so we walked the rest of the way together and had a nice conversation along the way. In case you’re wondering, i was actually lost and going the wrong way so I’m actually glad for the collision cause he knew where he was going. 😂

I don't really know what I should say. I'am 43 years old now and the Phil Collins music always was part of my life. The unbelievable 80s and 90s and his music was the reason why this time was the best time of our life. It Breaks my heart to see him at this age but it shows me that we all getting older. We were born in a time it can't be better! Just imagine.... it's not long ago there were Cowboys and Indians, no Computers, no technology. A few years later when all this become true with the 70s, 80s and the 90s, Computers, Great music, Internet,... which was the greatest of all time for me we were Born. Unbelievable talented people like Phil Collins and all the others begann to make wonderful music and we are blessed to be part of this wonderful magic time. Sir, thank you very much to spend your life to make our lifes magic with your music. We will never forget you.

beautiful story a real nice man not just an incredible musician.his son is now 17 years old and he plays drums since he was 5. and he goes on tour with Phil in his band. is sad for us his fans because his illness on the musles., made that since 3 years he couldn't play anymore. he said on an interview he can't keep the stick in his fingers anymore. the nerves reflexes are gone. But he said he played over 50 years and he acepted his illness. I wonder him. My son 17 too plays also drums since he was 7 at the orchestre from the school with private teachers. but for my son is just a hobby. but I love it. he is studying architecture drawing.( sorry I don't know how to translate this from german)and he still plays once in the week. Phil Collins could singing and playing at the same time was not usual is for a drummer like a guitar player .is complicated.he was unique .the sister from the Corrs Group who plays drums also left the drums when she sings in the front with her sisters an her brother.

Robert Duval did this for me too...My 7th spinal surgery and my wife was working for him and he asked about me....She said, 'he is doing terribly and I am worried about his survival through this'. Like Phil, and I am his age, THE PAIN is horrific. Getting old sucks anyway, but, when you abuse yourself for decades drinking and not doing some form of 'exercise' then your done. He is a walking MIRACLE. having almost died in hospital several times!. Robert Duval SAVED MY LIFE WRITING TO ME. 'HANG IN THERE JAMES' On a Lonesome Dove picture of him is western clothes. Phil Collins has given us all a reason to live….longer anyway. Not forever, thank god. Heaven awaits us ALL. Even sinners. yes, God welcomes everyone. **Kevin B, I still have that Photo in my foyer. Bobby Duval....amazing what these people do for us! It lasts a lifetime.
