I brought Phil in concert through a radio station I worked at in June 1989. He brought his Olson acoustic and I asked if he'd like to play some electric too. He used my cheap $99 Charvette guitar and made is sound like a Cadillac. Phil played "March of the Clouds" off of The Wind and the Wheat album. He played over top of the CD track. Very daring. My guitar was out of tune to start, but what he did was incredible. Phil is certainly one of the most naturally gifted guitarists in the world, and he works hard to maximize his gift. He worships the Lord as he plays and gives all glory to God. Phil is very humble. He's what you would hope all great musicians would be like behind the scenes, but very few actually are. Hope you enjoy this video! Please "Like" it for me. Thanks.

Make sure you have something to play the album on while you are on the island. Having the CD or vinyl with no CD or record player would be terrible. Oh yea and don't forget the batteries. No batteries, No good! Oh wait this the player requires a plug in! UHHGGGG!!!!!!

The first time i saw him play live the man next to me almost had to restrain me from coming out of me seat. He kept reassuring me that it was real and that he was playing all those notes. I was 18 years old. Now i am 68 years old and phil is still my miracle guitar player.the

I was 17 the fist time I saw Phil. I had a similar response, and it was the first time I went to a Christian concert. It changed my life, I started following the Lord. I’m 61 now. I still love Phil’s music. Blessings on you!

I first saw Phil in 1980. He blew my mind then. He's now 72 years old and still creating great guitar melodies, both acoustic and electric. What a blessing he is! Thanks for commenting.

Phil is my all time favorite guitarist I have ever had the pleasure to see, and is as down to earth as well as gifted . I have seen Phil live in concert at least 25 times throughout the years and he is incredible. God has an intense anointing on his music I know I will be watching and listening playing for the Lord in heaven. WOW awesome thought,Glory to God!!!!

I’ll never forget listening to this on cassette while driving west towards Killeen, as if this song was written for the day, as the perfect clouds marched past while headed west. No drug or vise could’ve equaled that euphoric moment in time. Phil’s gift has a unique way of finding you at a moment in time that leaves one at a loss for words..

He did something similar when we saw him in Raleigh 1985/86 opening for Russ Taff. Played about 20 minutes, just TORE IT UP, no notes missed, perfect tone, stunning precision and then he stops to take a breath and says, "I'm sorry if this doesn't sound right, but my guitars are lost in Virginia. I'd like to thank Brother so and so for letting me borrow his guitars", etc. I look at the guy next to me, a musician of some caliber and we are just like NO WAY!?!?!? But that's what guitar masters do...

Unknown maybe to you in a couple of others. Phil was great back in the mid-70s when I first started listening to him. It was fantastic back then playing acoustic guitar fingerstyle missing one middle finger. Pretty impressed I was way back then.

No disrespect, but where have you been?? Phil's very well-known amongst us guitar players. He's graced guitar magazines for as long as I've been playing. That's like saying Django Reinhardt, and Robert Johnson are unknowns too. Besides, he was using a looper back in seventies, long before artists like Ed Sheeran or KT Tunstall popularized it...

Phil has great integrity. His faith is as strong as his guitar playing is. I have followed him for over 40 years. For me, he is the greatest guitatist ever. I listen to pregty much everyone, but nobody compares to him. He plays so many styles so well! Who else can play and write like this? I admire many other guidarists, but Phil remains the only one who impresses on so many levels..

It's a "Charvette" guitar, made by the Charvel company. It was their very cheap version of their Charvel Jackson guitar. It was what I could afford to buy at the time, back in 1987 when I bought it. It played nice, but it had a consistent issue going out of tune when I'd use the whammy bar. I still have the guitar put haven't used it in years. I upgraded to a Custom 24 PRS, which Phil Keaggy played last year when he came back to town.

Remember Phil first learned on a Silvertone that was out of tune. Eventually his brother tuned it for him, and he was disappointed because he had to learn all over again. I think he doesn’t mind “out of tune”. Transcendent.

Both are great, but I think "All at Once" is his best. Find Me In these Fields is another excellent album. I enjoy "Sunday's Child" a great deal, but it isn't a guitar album. What a Day will remain one of my all-time favorites as well, I wore out my original record. Went to sleep by it every night. Phil is the king of mellow sounds as well as many others. I still study Phil's playing frequently. I don't want to play his songs out, but I try to pearn tgem just to improve my playing.

Not to be disrespectful, because I love Phil, and he is undoubtedly a world class performer, but I cannot help noticing this Charvette is putting out the EXACT same tone as the far more expensive custom Zion Strat PK used on the recorded track. This is possible only if the guitar has the exact same pickups and wiring as his Zion Strat or if he is guitar-syncing or miming the performance. You just cannot get the same tone out of wildly divergent guitars. That's why guitarists use many different guitars in one concert, to get a variety of tones and textures.

Adam T. All I can tell you is that I handed in my guitar, he plugged it in, and it sounded amazing. My guitar was obviously out of tune on the B string when he started. But he fixed and worked with it, and made it work. He is skilled in gifted.
