When this came out I didn’t have the sound system I wanted yet. House sitting for some friends who had a finely tuned set of six foot high speakers, I loaded up all my Keaggy tapes and cranked it up as far as I dared. This almost compared to seeing the band live at DAR Constitution Hall in DC. How blessed am I now to have this You Tube front row seat forty some years later? The theology behind this song was very formative on my young mind and was one of the fundamental truths I taught my ten children over the next thirty years. When my wife was told cancer would take her life while carrying our ninth, we struggled for a brief period with and by the blood overcame just what Phil was describing when he said, “I fear we all submit to him, Existing anxiously.” We rejected the doctor’s advice to abort the baby, recalling “who will speak up for the little ones?” and chose the name, “Jeremiah,” for the Lord knew the plans He had for him. My wife and I look back on that time now decades later, full of praise for God has all of our children in His hands and has work for them in His Kingdom, knowing nothing that Time can do can separate us from Yahweh and His plans through Yeshua. For He who holds The Keys has given them to us. “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come (time), 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:35:38, NKJV

Been listening to phil my whole life, my dad has been to so many concerts he knows phil now, like he will recognize my dad in the audience and wave to him, we were able to arrange a semi private concert for my dad's birthday a few years ago, phil and his wife were great, they went out to dinner with my parents and then at the concert asked what Playlist we had for him, we told him we just wanted him there do whatever he wanted. He was very appreciative as he had just come from a gruling and hot outdoor event. Very cool and talented dude. We were able to do the same thing with Paul Clark ,who dad also knows, for my mother's birthday I wasn't able to make that trip but he came to their house after for a cookout.

I was saved in 1995. I dropped the band, the death metal, and in my ignorance, I thought, “well, if Jesus is all about hymns, then so be it!”…. Then I found an old cassette of a band called “Jerusalem”…. Blew my mind, the I discovered Phil!!! Jesus, he made music! Thus, we should play it as unto Him, and there shall be prog rock, unto Him. Instead of playing his usual Les Paul or Strat, Phil had a never before seen, prototype guitar someone loaned him for that show. That "someone" was actually there that night. It was none other than Paul Reed Smith.

Right? Well, great are the mysteries of the soundboard technician, vast beyond measure. Would be worth the days it might take to excavate the full balance of sound here across all the spectrum and instruments , but still a treasure. I felt there were some falsetto moments lurking in Phil’s mind that didn’t reach the air, too, but those are filled in by my memory of other performances. On the other side of _time_ when we are with the Master and the musician, maybe we’ll hear it all in its full glory. 🎉

I love Phil. I've seen him twice. Once was with Randy Stonehill where they played together. I even shook his hand. But sorry, time never ends. There is not an end to time, for to put one thought after another, you must have time. And to worship God around the throne in heaven takes... TIME! I have no idea where the church came up with the notion that time eventually comes to an end. Maybe from the phrase "when time will be no more" in the great hymn, "When We All Get To Heaven." God is the God who is, who was, and who is to come! And we will live with him forever and ever. That's TIME!

@Random ..... Yes, read God’s word but rightly divide it and place all scriptures you quote in proper context too. You just took a set of verses out of context of the whole of scripture. If you read more of Paul’s writings, along with Gen 12:3, Isaiah 53:6, psalms 22:27, Rev. 5:13, you will start noticing a whole bunch of “All” words, that on first reading them, someone with cognitive dissonance and brainwashing will say there is no way God really means ALL when he says All. But once you read all 100 verses and more that indicate ALL will eventually stop perishing and ALL will come to an awakening to truth moment and that those whom God destroys, he then later heals and restores, and that God will someday have us ALL bowing before him with a willing heart (maybe we will finally have enough free will then, but for now God does not let us stray like a prodigal son forever) and acclaiming that Jesus is Lord (by means of the Holy Spirit, willingly) and bringing Father God great abundant Glory, you will realize that the doctrines of men, such as you just spouted one side of the story, are tools of Satan to discourage and bind. Jesus said his mission is to set all captives free, to bind up all the wounded, set at liberty any broken hearts, and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord instead of telling poor wounded souls to watch out for hell. Even Billy Graham, who believed hell was forever said in one of his sermons that he has some good news! That Christ is going to eliminate ALL sin, ALL suffering, and do away with ALL death, our 3 biggest problems. He contradicted his hell forever doctrine of men unknowingly, but proved scripture to be true. If you will go to www.forbiddentheology.com , We have placed a copy of “100 scriptural proofs that Christ will save all mankind” in a tab to the right of the top menu bar. It will change your life perspective on all of scriptures if you read God’s word. Even Gen 12:3 tells us ; “In you, shall all the kindreds (families) of the Earth be blessed.” 1 Cor. 15:22-28 is a wonderful declaration that God will vivify ALL that were cursed in Adam to death (verse 22) and that God will be “All in All” after Christ rules and reigns for an eon of time, putting everything, including death (even the second death) under his lordship. Every thought, such as is evil or good, shall become holy in his timing. Sin actually begins in the mind/heart, and so God will need to deal with all thought patterns that were against his truth, and bring them all under his feet. He even promised to drag all unto him, once he was lifted up from the Earth. His goal is found in Ephesians 1:9-11 and Colossians 1:20. Read all of scriptures sir so that you may rightly divide truth! Blessings and grace and peace to your soul! - brother Paul

Had to come back here for the original lyrics. Now the Master (Keaggy) is entitled to do with this song whatever he wants, but to take the "worst of all... " lines & reaplace them with "Here's good news..." on the Illumination album is a bit wokey.

Great music and Phil's wonderful voice. I know them from Glass Harp. I love progress and am also a believer. I have nothing against Phil, but music doesn't become Christian if you just change the lyrics. You glorify Jesus. But you asked Jesus, does he need such glorification? All this is an expression of our fallen self, which is opposed to God and which God hates. The world in a religious glaze is as much an abomination to God as sin. Not Phil, not you, not me, not all of us are fit for God. For Jesus to be glorified, we need to become a total zero. I love worldly prog rock, Genesis, Yes, Moodis, van der graaf... and others, but there is no need to mix all this with spiritual things.

You are misguided. The Creator didn't create humans to fall, but he knew they would, so he made a way for us to reconnect through His own sacrifice. All things were created by Him, including music. Phil was blessed with this amazing talent by Him. Phil is living his life connected to Him through his acceptance of Jesus. You live your life the same way. Phil just happens to be a musician. Connecting his music with his beliefs is EXACTLY what any songwriter does and it's what Phil chooses to do. For you to say there is no need to mix all this with spiritual things is to tell Phil that he can't express himself. That's ridiculous. Enjoy Phil, enjoy Yes, Genesis, whatever music you like, knowing that their talents are ALL from the Creator, regardless. The Creator will lead us and guide us through the Holy Spirit. Trust in Him and you'll be fine. You are not a zero and that's not who the Creator made you or any of us to be. Acknowledging Him and realizing all good things come from Him is what matters. Talk to Him every day, all the time.

Christian Rock is the worst. I remember Keaggy before that, he was an amazing talent. After seeing him play, I bought a sunburst Les Paul and practiced six hours a day. I'm not disparaging faith, but Christian Rock is cringy.

@@donmcc6573 surprisingly, more than you'd think. My brother was 'saved' for awhile back then and it was annoying. Keaggy refused to play electric guitar for a long while and just wanted to preach. All the while, Jethro Tull was crushing it. Good but weird times.

@@JamesWalker-ky5yr I have seen Phil Keaggy in concert many times. He always plays and doesn't preach hardly at all. And there are many Christian bands that crush it better than any secular band.

@@donmcc6573 He was great with Glass Harp, saw them several times. Christian rock sounds like fake music and you're just waiting for the lame religious lyrics to show up. Of course, rock is long dead. Spinal Tap killed it.
