Doug does more with a pentatonic blues approach than anyone I've heard. Very fresh take on the licks we've all known and loved.

I think the X might be the only Friedman amp I don't love. The BE and SS100 both blew me away. Doug smashes it out of the park, as usual. Such a great player & composer.

His gain is all the way up, I don't believe Phil plays with that much gain. Doug sounds absolutely fantastic.

Doug, is your recording chain on this one the same as always? Amp, SM57, Apogee? How would you describe the differences to the BE? When I was testing both, I found the Phil X Signature to be more organic and more open. It's more like a classy, ballsy rock amp.

Your BE100 blues improv is one of my favorite demos of any amp ever in history. I own a BE100 and SS100 and am strongly considering this head as well. How do you like this amp compared to the BE100? Ironically the tone of this amp sounds closer to the SS100 than the BE100 but I could be wrong. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Rock on!

To my ear, your best of the best playing is NOT the shreddy stuff. Phrasing and articulation of the hard blues soloing is fantastic, and not so often heard. But I have to acknowledge, the sweep picking flourishes are amazing and a reminder of your chops...

I could listen to Doug all day....he could make a toilet bowl sound killer. But, the problem with some of these videos is that it's tough to hear the raw gain structure of the amp itself. There's too much going on with the production. Short of that Doug is that best player on KZfaq by FAR.
